Wendy Davis is feeling the heat from the unfortunate outing of her life story. Far from being the struggling single mother who got divorced as a teenager, lived in a trailer, and put herself through Harvard with nothing more than hard work, ambition, and womyn power, it turns out that she was divorced at 21, not 19, and that her second husband put her through college. Evidently, that’s all he was good for to her, too, because the day after he paid off her student loan, she walked out the door — and left her kids with him, saying that it “wasn’t a good time” for her. So far from the heroic single mother pulling herself up to prosperity with her stilettos, it turns out she’s actually a woman who used a man and threw him away once he’d fulfilled his purpose of sugar daddy and convenient child custodian. Her response has been to blame Greg Abbott, pretend the lies don’t exist, and most appallingly, lash out (again) at Greg Abbott — a paraplegic — by saying that “he hasn’t walked a day in my shoes”. Nice, Wendy.

Naturally, the feminazis are rushing to defend Abortion Barbie, because women are special, y’all. They totally should be allowed to completely fabricate the details of their life stories and get away with it, because what’s a little lying among girlfriends, right?

Aviva Shen at Think Progress calls the scandal attacks out of a classic sexist playbook.

The Dallas Morning News profile and subsequent media reactions have played up her marital and familial problems to poke holes in this story. While these personal details would be hardly a blip on a male candidate’s record, they are now being used to paint the state senator as a classic sexist archetype: the ruthlessly ambitious woman who sacrifices her children and uses her sexual wiles to manipulate men.

Katie Halper at Feministing also finds it all, like, so sexist.

Jessica Valenti, a feminazi who probably knows a little something about having a whipped husband to do your bidding, also chimed in to defend Davis:

Except most spouses don’t immediately leave their spouse once the check has been signed and the debt is paid off. Usually they, you know, stick around. But in order for that to work, the marriage would have to be based on more than a fat 401K account.

Sarah Jones at Politicus USA also chimed in to call the entire affair patriarchal, saying,

If this article and their reaction to it is Republicans’ idea of helping themselves, they are more clueless than previously determined. As the daughter of a single working mom, I found the original article to be unintentionally condescending, reeking of privilege while attacking someone over poverty cred, and cluelessly patriarchal in its attitude toward joint resources and career women. Very 1950s. I found the sly references to her child bearing history very telling. I was expecting the scarlet letter for Ms. Davis for having had two children with two different men, though naturally this is expected if one is a man (then you are allowed to abandon your first family, in search of the perfect photo op).

And we see once again that, rather than saying that, gee, this is really bad behavior, we should condemn it, the femisogynists are arguing that since men do it, it’s totally cool for women to do it, too! Rather than expecting people to be honest and hold them to high standards, the feminazis prefer to drag women down to the lowest of the low. If men can use women for money and support and then abandon their families for convenience and ambition, then by golly, we should cheer when women do it, too. There’s no compassion for the people getting used and then left behind though, of course.

The thing is, though, that it doesn’t look like Wendy Davis has a shot in hell at winning. Polling shows that Davis is way behind, and the liberals and pro-abortion pseudo-feminists really, really can’t afford to have a scandal like this tank their extremely poorly-chosen candidate. It’s no surprise that they want to turn Texas blue, but they made a whopper of a mistake in choosing Wendy Davis. Davis made her name filibustering a bill for 11 hours that the majority of Texans supported, and forever linked her name with support for late-term abortion, a gruesome practice that most people abhor. She then piled on with support for issues like gun control, a sure campaign killer, considering she’s running in one of the most gun-friendly states in the country.

The only way she wins is by turning the election into some sort of referendum on women in politics, and to do that she needs to seize every opportunity at victimhood. Men don’t understand her “story,” men don’t understand women’s ambitions, men don’t understand how important it is to be able to kill a baby in the womb in the third trimester. (Most women in Texas don’t understand that either.)

… I’m reasonably sure a guy who’s spent nearly 30 years in a wheelchair can relate to struggle, but it’s telling that Team Victim still thinks they can win a “my life sucked even harder than yours” debate with someone like him. Sure, he was crippled and needed spinal surgery and extensive rehabilitation and overcame it all to become attorney general of Texas, but what hardship is that compared to a woman overcoming young motherhood to attend Harvard Law?

Wendy Davis’ story is all she has. She’s Wendy Davis, she had a hard life, and she’s a woman, so vote Davis! That’s her campaign, that’s her platform. And unfortunately, even that’s a fabrication. It’s only to be expected that, when their candidate is tanking, the feminazis would come out swinging in support of their girl. They can’t let their one chance to steal Texas slip away.
