Never mind the broken websites. Never mind that they’re a hacker’s dream. And never mind that you can’t afford it. You have to buy it. Because Chief Justice John Roberts said so. And the March 31st deadline to purchase health insurance is fast approaching.
While that poster-boy for honesty and integrity, Harry Reid, stands on the floor of our Senate accusing the roughly 33 percent of Americans who have been harmed by his boss’ signature healthcare monstrosity of lying, a Christian alternative to traditional health insurance, and ObamaCare, is fast gaining new members.
Health care sharing ministries, like Medi-Share, founded in 1993, are boasting a net gain of nearly 30,000 new members since the rollout of ObamaCare, reportedly more than those who selected a plan through its exchanges in 24 states. From a member:
“It works just like insurance. I have an insurance card. I show it just like anyone else would. I have a deductible. I have a monthly premium that I pay,” explained Eileen Wade, who joined the health care sharing ministry, Medi-Share, in 2011.
The country’s three largest health care ministries, which span all 50 states, report 242,000 members and growing. Under the plans, families or individuals are responsible for regular medical costs, while bills for unexpected illnesses or accidents are eligible for “sharing” by the group. The plans also promote healthy lifestyles with the goal being cost savings. But it has its critics. They say that the plans are not health insurance, and that there’s no guarantee of payment for rendered services. But Medi-Share’s CEO, Tony Meggs, says those claims are hyperbole, insisting that in its 21 years in existence, Medi-Share has had just a handful of complaints related to claims coverage.
From the Medi-Share website:
“Medi-Share is NOT INSURANCE. It’s a New Testament way of thinking about healthcare, built on the principles of Christians bearing each other’s burdens. For over 20 years, Medi-Share members have been faithfully sharing each other’s medical bills, trusting the Lord to provide in their time of need through the voluntary gifts of other believers.”
How’s that for free market? While they may not be the perfect solution for everyone, the biggest plus is that health care ministries like Medi-Share are fully exempt from ObamaCare fines and are not forced to offer coverages, like abortion and the morning after pill, that are an affront to the Christian faith.
Despite the protestations of Harry Reid—the very same Harry Reid who, alongside his fellow Democrats, continually repeated the Lie of the Year—Obamacare is harming the country, causing job loss, stressing the economy, exploding premium prices, and costing millions of Americans their health care coverage and benefits. And the numbers of cancellations will grow exponentially as the employer mandate kicks in. With the IRS breathing down our necks anticipating the collection of all the fresh, new taxes and fees buried within ObamaCare, we can expect a surge in alternative shared health care plans like Medi-Share, giving the free-market finger to the progressives working hard to destroy our healthcare system, and our First Amendment freedoms. Americans are rebels by nature. And no overreaching government and its heavy-handed bureaucrats are going to override our Constitutional right to freedom of religion by forcing us to violate our consciences. Or our strong wills. Americans always find a way. You can take that to the bank, Dingy.
