LGBT groups issue Trayvon Martin statement: “Justice for ALL People”

“We honor Trayvon by seeking justice for all people.”

I’m having a very hard time understanding how a gay rights coalition, made up of 35 LGBT groups, is “seeking justice for all people” when the system of justice has already, through a court of law, determined that George Zimmerman is not guilty.  Isn’t George Zimmerman part of “all people”?  What is this “justice” they speak of?  What of his “justice”?  Should we throw out the law and lynch Zimmerman?  Put him in jail, after a jury found him not guilty?  What exactly do they want?

Besides attention, of course?

I’m trying to get my head around the idea that a gay rights coalition’s open letter states:

“…our work does not end there: we will honor Trayvon Martin by strengthening our commitment to end bias, hatred, profiling and violence across our communities…”

Yet they seem perfectly comfortable with ignoring the violence and hatred bestowed upon George Zimmerman on a bloody sidewalk.

I’m flabbergasted why this gay rights coalition is “honoring” Trayvon Martin, who, according to his cell phone partner, didn’t want a “creepy ass cracker” going after his little brother.  Because, well, George Zimmerman might be a gay rapist….and a “cracker” to boot!  I would think that a gay and lesbian “task force” would be a tad concerned about that revelation.

But apparently not.

It’s not really “justice” they want and they are clearly not interested in ending true bias and profiling.  Because if they looked too deeply at their own prejudices and motivations, they’d see that not only are they hypocrites, they possess the very same biases and hatred they claim to want to end.

Again, from their “open letter“:

“Every person, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity, must be able to walk the streets without fear for their safety.”

Every one, that is, but George Zimmerman.
