Is Palin leaving the Republican GOP to start the “Freedom Party”? And Weekend Links!

While responding to a question from Twitter today, during a segment on the Fox News Channel, Sarah Palin seemed to actually consider the idea of leaving the Republican Party and starting a new one called “The Freedom Party”. Oh, and she would do this with the epic conservative talk host, Mark Levin. The idea is positively delicious!

Here’s the question from Twitter that Sarah Palin was asked:

And here’s how Sarah Palin answered that tweet:

“I love the name of that party — the ‘Freedom Party,’” Palin said. “And if the GOP continues to back away from the planks in our platform, from the principles that built this party of Lincoln and Reagan, then yeah, more and more of us are going to start saying, ‘You know, what’s wrong with being independent,’ kind of with that libertarian streak that much of us have. In other words, we want government to back off and not infringe upon our rights. I think there will be a lot of us who start saying ‘GOP, if you abandon us, we have nowhere else to go except to become more independent and not enlisted in a one or the other private majority parties that rule in our nation, either a Democrat or a Republican.’ Remember these are private parties, and you know, no one forces us to be enlisted in either party.”

First of all, Sarah Palin has bigger stones than anybody in the GOP leadership right now. If you remember after Obama was elect and took office, the GOP leadership were wringing their hands and crying in the corner over Obamacare. It was Sarah Palin who came out swinging (to much scorn and mockery) over Death Panels on her Facebook page. Now look where we are: death panels, with seemingly god-like powers of who gets treatment and who will die without it.

Frankly, who among us hasn’t thought about leaving the GOP – especially in the last decade? It’s true that we’ve lost our way. We are not presenting candidates with fire in their belly’s who can communicate the winsome conservative message of “freedom and liberty”. The GOP leadership seems to always back “the safe candidate” or the one they can control. And though we have some outstanding young turks, like Ted Cruz and Trey Gowdy, they aren’t the leadership. They aren’t in charge. Sure. Another party always sounds good to “the frustrated”, but I just don’t think we have time to leave the numbnuts in charge, while we cultivate a 3rd party that will actually come out of the gate winning elections.

We don’t have a lot of time to save our country from this horrible, downward spiral. We all know that and that’s the admonition that Sarah was giving us.

The decades-long “compromise” with the faux mantra of “working across the aisle” by the old GOP guard and slimey RINO’s never works to the people’s advantage — only government’s. Neither of these practices are “virtues” and neither will give us our country back from the socialists in power. We need something radical to happen to our party. And no, NSA, I’m not calling for a violent revolution on Victory Girls! We need to change it from within. We need to raise up men and women leaders – bar brawlers if necessary – fast; who fully believe in the authority of our Constitution, and who will fight for limited federal power over the people.

We need a miracle.
