The family of actor/lawyer and former Senator from the great State of Tennessee, Fred Thompson, announced his death only a few hours ago and famously low media website Gawker has already slimed him.
This is how Gawker headlined his death:
Actor, Former Senator, and Predatory Home Refinancing Shill Fred Thompson Dead at 73
For at least the last five years, Gawker has hit at Thompson over his commercials for reverse mortgages. They couldn’t let it go even on the day of his death.
Excellent site Twitchy has curated a bunch of Tweets shaming Gawker for their treatment of this well-respected man.
As sort of a palate cleanser, let us remember who this man was. Fred Dalton Thompson earned a law degree from Vandebilt and was a U.S. attorney on the Watergate committee investigating President Nixon (He wasn’t fired like, um, Hillary Clinton). Mr. Thompson started in quite a few movies including “The Hunt for Red October” and “In the Line of Fire”.
Fred Thompson was Senator from my beloved Tennessee. He has a famous quote about his time in Washington, D.C.:
“After two years in Washington, I often long for the realism and sincerity of Hollywood.”
After leaving the Senate, he starred on television on “Law & Order”. He also ran as a Republican candidate for President of the United State.
He has grown children from his first marriage, was predeceased by a daughter and has two very young children with his wife Jeri.
Rest in Peace, Senator Fred Thompson. Go to hell, Gawker
