Abominable: Two Cosplay Cretins Dress Up as Burning Twin Towers with Jumpers. [VIDEO]

This September marks the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

So, how about making light of the subject? What, too soon?

Proud Americans would reply with a resounding, “Hell, yeah!” and declare that it will never be appropriate to mock the deaths of 3000 Americans on that awful day.

However, there are two morons — yes, I said, morons — who thought it would be hilarious to dress up as the burning Twin Towers at the Dragon Con fantasy and sci-fi convention in Atlanta, GA, this weekend. And to cap off their crass attempt at edgy cosplay, the doltish duo added dolls representing people jumping from the towers.

Are you laughing? I’m not.

A Dragon Con representative labeled their costumes “offensive, distasteful and completely inappropriate,” and added, “We became aware of these individuals in the evening and dispatched both Dragon Con and hotel security to find them, pull their badges, and escort them from the property for violating convention policies. They had apparently left the Dragon Con convention area shortly after the photographs were taken.”

Anger erupted on social media.

But, of course, there were those who defended this vile display, claiming on Facebook that it merely depicts “a Japanese anime that centers around two buildings that are being burned by demonic wraiths and during the climax, the victims in the buildings jump to their deaths.” And then excused it with, “It’s also 15 years after. In less than 10 years after Hiroshima and Nagasaki the Japanese had Godzilla as a response to the radiation and destruction of the nukes.”

Well, that makes it a-okay then.

This is not the first time that the clueless have tried to poke fun at 9/11. In 2013, two nitwit teenage girls in Britain dressed up as the burning Twin Towers, complete with American flags atop their vacuous heads, ignorant of the fact that British citizens died on that day, too.

Because what happened to these people in this soundless but emotionally searing video is nothing more than slapstick comedy.

And this iconic image of The Falling Man is just a joke.

So what’s next for those two would-be merry jokesters from Atlanta? Maybe they should show up at next year’s Dragon Con wearing black-and-white striped pajamas adorned with yellow six-pointed stars. What — too soon?
