Retiring Senator Harry Reid Suing for Eye Accident

Retiring Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid is suing the manufacturers of TheraBand Latex Bands for the injuries he received in an unfortunate work out accident on New Year’s Day 2015. The name of the company that manufacturers TheraBands is Performance Health and Reid’s wife, Lana Gould, is also a suing the company.

According to the article in the Huffington Post:

Reid was using the band on New Year’s Day this year when the band either slipped or broke, “causing him to spin around and strike his face on a cabinet,” according to the lawsuit, filed Monday in the Clark County district court in Nevada.

I hate it when that happens.

Also from the Huffington Post article:

He alleges that the product was defective and that the company “knew or had constructive knowledge of the danger of injury to consumers, especially to the elderly, as a result of TheraBand breaking or slipping out of their hands while mounted to various sturdy objects.”

Oh, dear, that does sound horrible. So, a 75 year old man has mounted a latex exercise band to “various sturdy objects”, the band slips out of his hands, he spins around and strikes his face on a cabinet, falls and breaks several ribs, also. I am hearing cartoon sounds here. But, how is this something that the manufacturer should have foreseen.

I don’t think this lawsuit is going to put to rest the rumors that arose when Senator Reid returned to the Senate several weeks late in January. This will probably not put to rest the rumors that Reid was beaten up by the mob or that his brother beat him to a pulp.
