Roseburg Beacon Publisher Tells Obama To Not Come

If the reaction of Roseburg Beacon publisher David Jaques is indicative of the feeling of the community at large, then Barack Obama had better just stay away from the town.

Breitbart News interviewed Jaques, who was pretty upset with Obama’s knee-jerk reaction to the shooting last week that killed nine people.

Jaques told Breitbart News that he believes officials of Douglas County would also not welcome the President using the tragedy to score political points for a gun control agenda.

Any visit by President would be “a campaign stop for agenda to take away American citizen’s right to own firearms” said Jaques in an exclusive interview.

And Jaques is not alone.

During a segment aired by NBC Nightly News on October 4, (Cheyenne) Fitzgerald’s mother – Bonnie Schaan – said her daughter should have been armed and she stressed that Americans must arm themselves so they are able to defend their lives if such a heinous attack befalls them.

Schaan said, “America we need to pack guns–if this is what it’s coming to–to have to protect ourselves.” And Schaan was not alone in her views. Rather, numerous Sunday sermons in Roseberg, Oregon, focused “God and guns.”

On October 2 Breitbart New reported that Roseberg residents were rallying to the Second Amendment in the wake of the attack. One resident – disabled Marine Casey Runyan – said he carries a Glock handgun “everywhere he goes.” He added, “All my friends agree with me. That’s the only kind of friends I have.”

Between the refusal of Roseburg residents to play the victim, the continued eyewitness corroboration that the shooter was looking to target Christians (even though he shot many people who were not and did not profess faith), and the fact that the shooter looks like Obama himself (despite the assumptions of black activists that the shooter would be white), I am thinking that Roseburg residents probably need not worry about the president coming there. None of the known facts fit his narrative, so he will be content to lecture and plan executive actions from thousands of miles away.

UPDATE 8:05 PM ET: Well, so much for that. Obama is planning to be in Roseburg this Friday and will see families privately. We’ll see if he chooses to do any more than meet with the families.
