Occupy Portland Anniversary: Raging Grannies Mock “Battle Hymn Of The Republic” (Video)

Maybe you’ve heard of the “Raging Grannies”. They’re not just a bunch of guano-loco old ladies, though they are indeed that. They are actually “social justice” activist organizations here in the US and elsewhere, made up of women old enough to be grandmothers. They dress up in clothes that mock what they see as stereotypes of older women, and sing songs at protests. Sometimes they’re arrested – like the time they attempted to enlist at a US Army recruiting center on Valentines Day. They typically write the lyrics themselves, putting their political messages to the tunes of well known songs. Their jackassery activism includes anti-war and green causes. In other words, they’re uber-liberal nincompoops who are old enough to know better.

So…to “celebrate” the one-year anniversary of Occupy Portland this weekend, the Raging Grannies took to the stage. They inserted their own words for stupid liberal hippy causes, mocking the much loved Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Here’s the video:
