As the American public becomes increasingly concerned with the obvious lack of cohesiveness between the White House, the CDC, and the medical community in dealing with the Ebola situation, a growing number of people are calling for the banning of flights from Ebola-stricken countries.
An article at Breitbart recently reports on a White House petition banning the flights has gathered over 20,000 signatures in less than two weeks in an attempt by frustrated and anxious citizens to have their voices heard by an erratic Obama administration. From the article:
The petition states: “Experts had stated it was ‘highly unlikely’ that Ebola would show up on American soil. But now it has, in the City of Dallas, Texas, brought here by an individual who entered our country from the West African nation of Liberia, where Ebola is rampant.”
The petition continues, “We do not want any more Ebola-infected individuals bringing the epidemic to our shores. The longer we allow people to enter our country from Ebola-stricken areas, the higher the chance another person infected with Ebola will arrive here, putting ALL our citizens at risk. Please tell the FAA to ban ALL incoming flights from any/all Ebola-stricken regions.”
It would seem our concerns are not unfounded as there appears to be no real concensus on how to proactively deal with this disease or on how easily this virulent illness is spread. While the WHO is telling the world population this as reported by AP:
“The World Health Organization called the Ebola outbreak “the most severe, acute health emergency seen in modern times…”
The CDC is urging us after Nina Pham, the nurse that has become (so they say) the first American to contract Ebola after tending to the now deceased Liberian Thomas Eric Duncan, not to panic. Dr. Thomas Frieden of the CDC assures us that this incident was a “breach in protocol” and is quoted as saying at USA Today:
“The existence of the first case of Ebola spread in the U.S. changes some things and it doesn’t change somethings,” he said. “It doesn’t change the fact that we know how Ebola spreads. It doesn’t change the fact that it’s possible to treat Ebola safely. But it does change substantially how we approach it.”
I don’t know about you, but I perceive a lot of waffling, a lot of dithering, a lot of contrariness, and I believe a lot of what comes out this side of a horse’s posterior going on here. In an incendiary and particularly scathing interview on Breitbart News Saturday, Dr. Michael Savage, popular conservative talk radio host and author, gave his two-cents worth, well, quite savagely:
“As far as Ebola is concerned, Savage says, “If you like your Ebola, you can keep your Ebola; it is part of the new Obamacare plan.”
According to Savage, Obama is not the only culprit in the mishandling of Ebola. Savage is not too impressed with Dr. Tom Frieden either: “You listen to that fraud at the CDC – the man should be arrested for lying to the public. Every day he changes his story: ‘You can’t get it on a bus, you can get it on a bus. It’s not airborne, it might be airborne.’ I mean are they kidding? This is a nation whose health is being destroyed by this administration.”
“If look at Africa, at the Ebola-stricken nations, the surrounding African nations have forbidden all travel between the nations that are stricken and their own. What does that tell us? That third world dictatorships in Africa are run by more intelligent men than Barack Obama,” he said.
Savage argued that it’s not that difficult to contain Ebola. “You have to close down all travel to West Africa and quarantine any individual who is coming in from those nations. Frankly ,they shouldn’t be let into the country. Why do you think we are seeing airport scares, airport shut downs, maintenance workers refusing to clean planes? They are not stupid. It’s their survival instincts kicking in. They are going to listen to this moron at the CDC saying go clean up the vomit on an airplane, you’ll be safe? Let him go clean it up and get it on his Windsor knot.”
What an inconceivably brilliant idea Dr. Savage suggests! Why don’t ” We the People ” provide some desperately needed guidance to this dangerously inept bunch of miscreants and make this petition banning flights from Ebola-infested countries go viral, pun most sincerely intended. By October 31st, 2014, we need to have 100,000 signatures of consolidated American voices saying most emphatically “NO!” to this unnecessary endangerment. American lives are at risk here, and we’ve got to take some matters into our own hands.
