Mimosa, Bloody Mary, nice flute of champagne — or maybe a favorite tipple in your coffee. Make yourself one and join me at our own Algonquin Round Table, the spirit of Dorothy Parker abides.

Happy Sunday, dear friends! In a few short days, the second most American of holidays, Thanksgiving, will be here. May I make a suggestion as I pass you your champagne? And, oh, don’t miss that dish piled high with scrambled eggs — there’s smoked salmon in there! What? Oh yes, Thanksgiving. Turn off anything “news” oriented on tv. Turn on some fine dining music, ban cell phones from the table and avoid anything resembling a political discussion. This is the time for family and guests to enjoy each other’s company rather than devolving into something like dumping a boat of gravy on Cousin Chad’s lap. Now, let me pass you the crispy bacon and let’s get to it.

#MeToo — unless you’re an Israeli

If nothing else over the last several years, we’ve witnessed time and again that women’s rights are entirely conditional. And I’m not talking just about the Transcult’s erasure of women, but the Left-feminist handmaids who are Janey-on-the-spot with any sort of sexual misconduct aimed at their sisters. But Jews from Israel? The sexual terrorism committed on them doesn’t really count.

“Within a month following the Russian invasion to Ukraine, UN Women expressed grave concern over evidence of rapes and other conflict related sexual violence and called for an investigation into these allegations. Likewise, they reacted immediately to the reports of rapes of Yazidi women by ISIS, which was referred to as a terrorist group,” the academic director of the Rackman Center for the Advancement of Women at Bar-Ilan University, Ruth Halperin-Kaddari, tells the Sun. “Their failure to acknowledge what actually took place on October 7 adds fuel to the propaganda, to the campaign of denial, in which we find ourselves now.”

A UN Women statement released on October 20 calls for a ceasefire and again doesn’t name Hamas. The statement, though, does address “depression levels” from “a deep sense of hopelessness” in Gaza.
Another of the leading United Nations women’s rights organizations, the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women, issued a similarly equivocating statement on October 27, condemning “the escalating violence in the Middle East” and calling “upon all parties to systematically address the gender dimension of the conflict.” Hamas is not mentioned. Neither is rape. Like UN Women, the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women calls for “peace talks” and a ceasefire.

Another Edith Wilson turn by “Dr.” Jill

Come ON, people! This demented, empty husk of one of this nation’s creepiest politicians needs to be in a rest home. Guarded in a rest home (to protect any visiting children).

Secret Service as cast by Hal Roach Studios

This is just plain embarrassing.

Secret Service agents tasked with protecting President Joe Biden’s granddaughter Naomi Biden opened fire after three people attempted to break into an unmarked agency vehicle in Washington, D.C.

The agents saw three people breaking a window of the parked and unoccupied Secret Service vehicle while out with Naomi Biden in the Georgetown neighborhood on Sunday night. One of the agents opened fire using a service weapon, and it is believed that no one was struck by gunfire, the Secret Service said in a statement.

Your Sunday palate cleanser

After weeks of pro-Hamas protests, some with violence, some filled with TrueBelievers and some with Astroturf — it was good to see the national mall filled with people who #standwithIsrael.

Your Sunday smile

“It’s like the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad has happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing this shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it’ll shine out the clearer. I know now folks in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going because they were holding on to something. That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.”

Astonishing, newly emerged video captured an Israeli farmer’s heroic rescue of some 120 people from the Hamas rampage at a music festival — as he drove back and forth through body-littered roads while under fire from terrorists.

Oz Davidian, who lives in Maslul, made about 20 trips in his truck to save as many survivors as possible from the Supernova festival, where about 260 people were slaughtered Oct. 7

Look at the time! Sadly, our time together today is at an end. Be assured you’ll be included when we count our blessings and witness to what we are grateful for around a table of bounty this coming Thursday. Whether your feast is large or small, whether your table is gourmet or hearty fare, whether there are two or twenty under your roof, savor the time and make memories. After grace, I’ll lift a glass in your direction and drink to your health. See you next Sunday. Cheers.

We didn’t need the first Edith Wilson, we certainly don’t need or want this one.

This is the time to give thanks to our Creator for His bountiful goodness to us.
Taking the focus and moving it to God is a great way to improve the atmosphere around your holiday table.

I’m guessing he’s Jewish, so doesn’t qualify for “Righteous Among The Nations”. But he definitely qualifies as a mensch.
