In a story of incredibly bad decisions, right down to the venal stage mother who agreed to this, Rapper XXXTentacion is demurely deflecting charges of click-baiting. Oh NOES, he cries, this is a message about “innocence”.
The video “Look At Me!” debuted on Tuesday and features imagery depicting police brutality, violent protests, and the 19-year-old Florida-based rapper placing a white child’s head in a noose on stage in front of a crowded theater and then hoisting him up into the air.
The child’s feet are shown dangling and twitching and then they suddenly stop.
The casting director of the video LaShawnna Stanley told that finding parents who would allow their child to be hanged on stage was a challenge.
Well, thank you Captain Oblivious, for demonstrating at least some parents have retained their sanity.
Stanley said the mother who finally agreed “was serious about acting and the message. The mother of the son is very serious about acting. She’s a stage mom. She has three sons and takes them to LA to audition. She understood the vision.”
Oh, I’m sure she did. Let’s ignore that small glitter of fame-at-all-costs appearing in the corner of her eye. The rapper was all kind and loving to the kids right before he hoisted one in front of the other.
While CPS goes and busts parents for letting their kids walk to school or ride a public bus, we have children being exploited for rap videos!
Where the hell are our priorities?
There’s a whole group of people out there that have been steeped in stupid for way too long. Marinated in moron. Basted with imbecility.
The problem is not the mother of the white child, the problem is the sick demented mind that conceptualized this video.
I think there is plenty of guilt to go around.
The first step for any genocide is to demonize and dehumanize your target.
It’s safe that this is cliched by now, but imagine the outrage if a white musician had lynched a black child.
“Sad” not “safe.” Darn autocorrect.
