Today is the birthday of the United States Marine Corps. 234 years ago today, in a small bar called Tun Tavern, the Marines were born. Every year, the Marines celebrate this day and rightfully so, for it was today that the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen was made. Across the globe, Marines are celebrating this day with balls and parties, filled with fond memories and solemn remembrances. They hear the Commandant’s message, which is here.
I’m going to ask one last time that you please find the generosity to donate to Project Valour-IT. Tomorrow is the last day in the fundraiser, and the Marine team is within reach of our $35,000 goal. We’ve never won in the history of the fundraiser, and what better day to help get us there than today? Imagine waking up wounded in a hospital, injured in service for your country, not able to leave your bed. A voice-activated laptop can help give you a window to the outside world, help lift your spirits and motivate you to recover. A Wii can help speed your recovery process through a fun physical therapy program. Project Valour-IT can provide that to our wounded warriors, and it’s the least we can do to show our gratitude and appreciation for their service and sacrifice. Just click on the red thermometer to your right, and donate — preferably to the Marine team!
Lastly, Happy Birthday to all the Marines reading this! But specifically, Happy Birthday to my Marine. Matt, I love you and I’m so proud of you!
UPDATE: We have surpassed our Project Valour-IT goal of $35,000! I cannot think of a better birthday present than helping us get our Marine team to its first Valour-IT fundraiser victory! And everyone, thank you so much. I can’t speak for our wounded warriors but I can only hope this sends a strong message to them of the level of support, gratitude, and appreciation we have for our heroes in uniform.
And lastly, this definitely sends a message of which team is the best — THE MARINES! OOH-RAH! You all are the best!
