Champagne and limo Democrats probably haven’t done more in their kitchens than admire the quartzite countertops while sipping a cup of Fair Trade Certified, organically grown, single-source coffee. Grocery shop? THEM? But they sure are experts when it comes to eating healthy on a budget.

NOT.

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins took heat on social media Thursday over a comment that Americans can eat healthily for $3 a meal by consuming “a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla and one other thing.”

Rollins, a native Texan and former president of the conservative Texas Public Policy Foundation, appeared on News Nation to promote the Trump administration’s Make America Healthy Again campaign, which advises Americans to eat more whole foods like meat and vegetables. That has drawn push back from Democrats that the diet is hard to achieve with the relatively high price of groceries.

DIET IS HARD! they cried … and I want to throw things because the idea that eating healthy on a budget is so OMG dIfFIcULt is so gobsmacking stupid that what we are dealing with, again, is Democrats filled vile malice.

Dollars to donuts, Stanford/Georgetown-educated Teddy here hasn’t seen the inside of a grocery store since he was a kid; and I guarantee you that meal planning on a budget isn’t on any personal achievement list.

In the TDS-fueled worldview of neo-Confederate Democrats, there is nothing good that comes from the Trump administration. Even as the new food pyramid has made the necessary changes that many nutritionists and dieticians have clamored for for years, Democrats have attacked the commonsense pivot away from sugar/sodium-dense, highly processed food as confusing or something to mock gives away the game. These are the people who promote (for us, not them) eating bugs instead of beef.

Is Ted Lieu positioning himself as the Cea Weaver of the American diet? Or, like most GenX and later Californians, high school Home Economics was no longer available and, with it, the basic skills taught have disappeared into the realm of convenience foods and an obesity epidemic.

My maternal grandmother was a young, married woman with two small children running a household on one income during the Great Depression. She was an awesome cook (along with mom) and they taught me how to cook with whatever was available in the grocery store and within budget. Those skills, whether you learned them at home or in Home Ec, were so much a given that newspapers ran their extra grocery-store ads on Thursdays (usually as a separate pull-out) so you could sit down and plan your meals for the coming week, make a marketing list according to your budget, then shop on Friday or Saturday.

What is it about today, with all the tools on our cell phones at our disposal, real-time, to see what grocery stores are selling that we can’t even do the simplest of smart shopping? Or meal planning? If Democrats are claiming that eating healthy on a budget is too difficult, it is because they have been sabotaging the efforts to learn those skills for long time. You might actually be healthier and less reliant on BigPharma and/or BigGov welfare.

No no no! It’s too hard, they cry!

Democrats believe you too stupid to run your own life. They want to do it, for your own good, of course.
