Canterbury Cathedral Self-Vandalizes for ‘Marginalized Communities’

Canterbury Cathedral, one of the oldest of Christian buildings in England, is decorating its 900-year-old stone walls with ghetto-style graffiti. And you’re not allowed to notice the ugliness.

Canterbury receives about two million visitors a year and its popularity is due to the breathtaking Gothic architecture of 11th century. However, it appears the “church” is now going to make the interior look like Los Angeles’ 2nd Street Tunnel. And how dare you notice with any opinion other than “stunning and brave”.

US Vice-President JD Vance has criticised a new installation by marginalised communities at Canterbury Cathedral.

The artwork features red graffiti-style writing on ancient stone walls, posing questions to God such as: “Why did you create hate when love is by far more powerful?”

Mr Vance wrote on X that the exhibit had made a “beautiful historical building really ugly”.

The Dean of Canterbury responds with the kind of Woke boilerplate we experience for every critique of their cultural humiliation ceremonies.

David Monteith … said it “intentionally builds bridges between cultures, styles and genres”.

Mr Monteith said it “allows us to receive the gifts of younger people who have much to say and from whom we need to hear much”.

Real adults invite the young into the conversation with guidance. Indulgent adults allow spoiled children to trash the home, throw tantrums in grocery stores and be insufferable to other adults with the explanation that these youngsters need the liberty to find themselves.

And here we are again at the intersection of Piss Christ and Dung Madonna where a beautiful piece of Christian art has to be trashed to be “relevant”.

JD Vance dared to step forward to say “The Emperor is naked” …

… in a very mild manner while headlines describing his reaction are filled with terms like “outrage, fury, blasts”. But all that criticism glosses over the meat of Vance’s message. This ugliness is supposed to be representative of “marginalized communities”? Is this how they feel about themselves or is this just another woke conceit by successful white Leftists that they know these “communities” and their aspirations better than they do.

Co-creator and poet Alex Vellis said: “This project, at its core, is about community, using your voice, and change. Graffiti is the language of the unheard.”

Unheard? Dude! Go talk to the people who live in urban areas covered with graffiti. They would really like the marginalized graffiti scribblers to shut up once and a while.
