Sunday Morning Cafe Cocktails

Mimosa, Bloody Mary, nice flute of champagne — or maybe a favorite tipple in your coffee. Make yourself one and join me at our own Algonquin Round Table, the spirit of Dorothy Parker abides.

Happy Sunday, dear friends! I’m back to serve up a platter or two of insanity with a side of bacon and snark. Many thanks to VG sister Deanna for being your hostess with the mostess last week. Hasn’t this been a happy week of watching and hearing from visitors from Europe who have stumbled upon America outside the deep-blue and psychotic urban cities? Normie Americans are a happy, open, and giving folks. And we have Ranch dressing!

Let me take a moment here — grab a flute of bubbly and lift it high — to say Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful men who are working at the hard, but rewarding, task of being Dad. You aren’t told often enough on how essential you are, what an important role you play, in guiding your children into adulthood. Grandpas? Rest on your laurels and remember to feed the kids chocolate before giving them back to the parents. HA! Wish I could hug you all.

Now, let’s get to it. L’Chaim!

One rule for thee, but not for me …

Could be … could be … anti-Semitism

An Orthodox Jewish homeowner in Ohio is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to revive his lawsuit after he says city officials targeted him for trying to host a prayer gathering in his home.

Daniel Grand said he invited about a dozen friends to join him for prayer at his home in University Heights in January 2021. After a neighbor learned of the planned gathering and complained to city officials, Grand received a cease-and-desist letter, and then-Mayor Michael Dylan Brennan told him he would need a special-use permit to comply with local zoning rules governing religious assemblies. (snip)

He alleges Brennan encouraged neighbors to report activity at his home and that police conducted frequent drive-bys. Grand also alleges city services stopped collecting his trash for several weeks and that officials threatened him with “bogus” property violations in an effort to build a case against him.

Grand argues the city discriminated against him based on religion, saying officials would not have objected to a secular social gathering at his home.

“It’s just absurd,” Grand said. “I live here. It’s my house. It’s still my house… whether they’re reading Oprah Book Club of the month or a Bible, the Oprah Book Club is fine, but the Bible is a problem, according to that mayor of University Heights,” he said.

There was a lot of that 2020-21. Mom and Pop stores closed, but big box remained open. Churches closed down, but “fiery but peaceful” riots allowed. No normies allowed on the beach or in the park, but a governor having dinner at a fancy restaurant with friends.

It’s (D)ifferent when they do it.

Cover your ears!

Ouch. Please pass the bourbon … I can’t unhear that, but I can dull the pain.

FIFA in America Alert: Swede discovers Ranch dressing

Who knew this would be such a hit?

“People just talk to you, like random people, they say ‘hi’ on the street. It’s been the same in San Francisco, so far, to be fair as well,” she told The Post. “That does not happen in Sweden at all … people are very anti-social there, you barely speak to your neighbor.”

Thora said even small things which Americans take for granted seemed magical. (snip)

“I’m really looking forward to the Fourth of July … I just love how patriotic you guys are as well,” she said.

Well, Thora, most of us are, but there’s those portside poltroons who just can’t help themselves.

Honest question, why are some people so invested in mutilating kids?

I mean, what is animating Colorado judges to force hospitals to maim children? Shouldn’t stuff like this show how wrong sex-denying surgery is?

In a recent op-ed for Fox News, Abernathy wrote that she was put on testosterone at 14 years old and that eight months later, surgeons performed a double mastectomy on her.

“I am no longer that silent, vulnerable fourteen-year-old. I am a woman living in the wreckage of your carelessness, and I will spend the rest of my life ensuring that people know exactly what kind of ‘medicine’ you practiced,’” Abernathy said.

A glimmer of hope?

Children’s Hospital Colorado says it reinstated gender-affirming care in response to a court order, but transgender patients can’t actually receive it because the health center’s doctors refuse to write prescriptions, fearing federal retaliation.

I wish they were refusing due to their oath to “do no harm” but any child saved from chemical or surgical mutilation I’ll applaud.
