From celebrating 1776 instead of 1619 to getting up to watch Team USA Hockey win gold in the Winter Olympics, you can count on the political portside to fling feces.

HuffPost was called out on Sunday for a piece headlined, “There’s A Name For The Discomfort You’re Feeling Watching The Olympics Right Now,” as critics quickly posted photos of American athletes celebrating with their flag.

The outlet posted the piece on social media with the caption, “If waving the American flag or chanting ‘USA!’ turns you off right now, you’re not alone.”

Whether it was the Red Guard during the “Cultural Revolution” in China or Reign of Terror in France or the Bolsheviks of Russia, we’ve seen time and again what happens when political ideology becomes a pseudo-religion. Slaughter, purges, gulags, guillotines — there is no desire to debate, no negotiating conflicting viewpoints, there is only one way of being. And sixty-plus years of the Left’s march through America’s cultural institutions has solidified into movement dedicated to unAmericanize, indeed unWesternize, the nation and to beat its people into submission.

While President Donald Trump’s deportation agenda separates families, and federal agents detain 5-year-olds and kill unarmed civilians, American athletes are winning medals on behalf of the nation at the Olympics right now.

This whiplash between pride for United States competitors and national shame for the federal government is common.

2026 is the 250th birthyear of our nation. There is so much to celebrate, so much to be proud of, so many reasons to deck the halls with flags and bunting and lay in a good supply of sparklers for the Fourth. And just as much reason to expect the unAmerican Left will continue to do everything in its power to shut-it-all-down. Susan Rice hasn’t been shy on her plans for half of this nation, right along with what Newsom and Mamdani and Abigail Spanberger and Katie Wilson are doing to their cities and states.

I have no more patience with the anti-Americans and no more sympathy. The Left’s long drive to encourage children to reject their own families over politics, Obama’s exhortation that such kids go home for the holidays and get in their family’s face for The Cause, has to end now. Because this nation will not survive a citizenry that hates it.

Today, in the United States, it is popular among self-styled ‘intellectuals’ to sneer at patriotism. They seem to think that it is axiomatic that any civilized man is a pacifist, and they treat the military profession with contempt. ‘Warmongers’ – ‘Imperialists’ – ‘Hired killers in uniform’ – you have all heard such sneers and you will hear them again. One of their favorite quotations is: ‘Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.’ What they never mention is that the man who made that sneering remark was a fat, gluttonous slob who was pursued all his life by a pathological fear of death. Patriotism is the most practical of all human characteristics. But in the present decadent atmosphere patriots are often too shy to talk about it – as if it were something shameful or an irrational weakness. But patriotism is NOT sentimental nonsense. Nor is it something dreamed up by demagogues.

Patriotism is as necessary a part of man’s evolutionary equipment as are his eyes, as useful to the race as eyes are to the individual. A man who is NOT patriotic is an evolutionary dead end. This is not sentiment but the hardest of logic.

So said Robert Heinlein in 1973. His full speech is as relevant today as it was then.

So, again I say — if you are upset that people are proud of the US Olympic Hockey team, then start making plans to leave this country for a place you feel would be a better fit. You are not my fellow citizen and I don’t want your amoral tuchus here.
