Keith Ellison: Do Allegations of Abuse Matter to Voters?

Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, scored an easy victory in Minnesota’s primary race for state attorney general. He currently serves as U.S. representative and deputy chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

In his victory speech Tuesday night, Ellison briefly addressed charges of alleged domestic abuse leveled against him just days before the primary.

We had a very unexpected event at the end of this campaign that happened. I want to assure you that it is not true.

His accuser, Karen Monahan, Sierra Club Senior Organizing Representative, who was in a relationship with Ellison dating back to 2016, cited extreme emotional, verbal and physical abuse. As a result, she and her adult son, Austin Aslim Monahan, who has supported and defended his mother and posted accounts of her mistreatment on FaceBook, have been severely criticized by many members of the Democratic Party. (You remember the Democratic Party. They’re the ones who vilify conservatives for ANYTHING, but enable and excuse Democrats for their transgressions, including ex-presidents who committed EVERYTHING, as Juanita Broaddrick testified for decades.) Ms. Monahan said to the DNC via her son’s FaceBook page:

It s not on a person who has been victimized to share proof after they had the courage to share their trauma and pain to the world. It is on Keith Ellison to be trueful to his constituents and take responsibility for what he knows he did.He not only chose to be dishonest to the world, he actually was the one who was abusive. So many of you chose not to believe me or my son. You have bullied both of us, victim shamed and continued business as usual. That is shameful. So many women and young girls are watching you. This is suppose to be the party of human rights? ‘We who believe in freedom, can not rest’

Sunday, Ellison stated on National Public Radio in reference to a video allegedly depicting violent physical abuse that Austin Aslim Monahan claims he saw in a file on his mother’s computer:

Karen and I were in a long-term relationship which ended in 2016, and I still care deeply for her well-being. This video does not exist because I never behaved in this way, and any characterization otherwise is false.

As reported in the Daily Wire:

‘The party has no choice but to suspend him at a minimum until they figure out what’s going on,’ former DNC communications director Luis Miranda told NPR in response to the allegations. ‘Frankly, it would be malpractice not to. We’ve made it clear we’re going to take these accusations seriously, at a minimum. We set too high a standard not to take this seriously.’

Another accuser has emerged:

There quite possibly will be more to follow. So whether Keith Ellison will become Minnesota’s attorney general, or descend in a political downward spiral, is now up to the consciences of others. Since he has thus far chosen to cloak himself in denial, whether that cloak is allowed to remain or ripped off is in the hands of Minnesota voters, leftist media, two-faced “feminists” and his fellow members in the Democratic Party.

But I feel the evidence will accumulate and Mr. Ellison and his aspirations will be relegated to the past. Hopefully, his political downward spiral has begun.

Do allegations of abuse matter to voters? Ask the experts … tRump voters. They’re a wealth of information when it comes to why someone votes for a person (I’m being generous by calling him “a person”) who had confirmed (not allegations) incidents of abuse against women.

    • scott says:

Maybe you can detail these “confirmed”incidents? any charges? Convictions? Yeah, not likely… you’re another clown who I’m sure has defended the clintons, and all the assaults / rapes he committed….here’s an idea, go back under the bridge (or your moms basement) troll, and let the adults talk

    • SDN says:

President Trump voters didn’t even exist when you put a rapist in the White House, and then kept him there through confirmed harassment against a subordinate. You told us it was “just sex, no big deal.” We listened. Now live with your world.

Hmm, a muslim man who abuses women???? say it isn’t so!!! I mean, it’s not like their “holy” book details how and why they can abuse women (or young boys for that matter)… or lie to infidels…or anything like that.. I mean hell, a muslim “woman” just won a primary, and she’s been lying about being married to multiple men, one being her brother, so I guess the standards for dims in general, and muslims in particular get ” stretched” just a bit….

She needs to produce that video if she really wants to bring him down. Until then, she’s just making allegations without proof. She says women shouldn’t have to do this, but yes, they should. I believe her, but that’s just me. If she wants the country to believe her and do something about it, she needs to show the proof. If she can’t bring herself to do this, then I don’t know why she bother bringing this up, especially at the late date that she did.
