I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised. The Nobel Committee probably needs a break from honoring people who actually fight for human rights, like Liu Xiabao, and really needs to get back to honoring real peacemakers. Wikileaks fits right in with prior winners such as Yasser Arafat, Kofi Annan, Jimmy Carter, and Barack Obama. They’ve done absolutely nothing to further peace, but liberals sure love them, so who cares? They’re way more trendy than boring winners like Xiabao.
Stortinget parliamentarian Snorre Valen said he nominated WikiLeaks because it has helped “redraw the map of information freedom.”
“Liu Xiabao was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize last year for his struggle for human rights, democracy and freedom of speech in China,” Valen wrote on his blog. “Likewise, WikiLeaks have contributed to the struggle for those very values globally, by exposing (among many other things) corruption, war crimes and torture.”
There’s also the complicity of Wikileaks in possible torture and death, but who cares about that? Wikileaks callously released the names and whereabouts of Afghan informants helping US troops drive out the Taliban — a truly corrupt, murderous, terrorist regime — putting not only the lives of the informants in danger, but also the lives of their families. (Even Amnesty International was disgusted by this.) Julian Assange doctored a video of an Apache shooting insurgents in Baghdad, calling it collateral murder, but his little act of exposure in Afghanistan could lead to real collateral murder. The “courage” of the Wikileaks document drop also put the lives of US citizens and troops in danger, but hey, maybe that’s why they’re being nominated.
Julian Assange also admitted that Wikileaks was responsible for a Kenyan massacre that followed one of their document drops, but who cares? The Kenyans were informed before they were slaughtered. I’m sure that, were they alive, they would totally say it was worth it.
See? Wikileaks is important. Sometimes, putting the lives of brave citizens trying to overthrow terrorist regimes at risk is worth it, because it makes Julian Assange a liberal celebrity. Causing the deaths of Kenyan innocents is all good because the Kenyans got some free information they didn’t have before they died. What was I thinking?! Wikileaks is clearly worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Also, the idea that exposing the fact that American troops committed atrocities is bad because, according to the administration the documents embarrass, it might endanger U.S. troops, is kind of disgusting. There is no evidence of that happening, but there is lots of evidence right in front of your eyes from the very source you’re condemning that innocent people were unnecessarily killed. Redirect your outrage.

There’s a lot I would like to say about Wikileaks the world and the people in it, but won’t.
No one is innocent, it’s the same mentality that Muslim terrorist have about US tax payers; you simply are the enemy because you pay taxes to your government.
Let’s adopt that mentality and say it again; ”No one is innocent”.
If you support an ideology you are no longer innocent to the opposing side.
Any act that American troops committed are then subject of prejudice and nothing more.
I know right now we are not shooting at every country in the world, but does anyone honestly think we are not at war (competition) with every country in the world.
I pay taxes to MY government to win the “war”, even the ones we don’t know about because of our lack of vision for the future.
Though it seems like now we are on the losing end of the war; my proof is, Wikileaks, the liberal media, politicians and people like Alex.
