White House Launches #RefugeesWelcome Hashtag

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that our “fearless” leaders no longer communicate with the people of our country (nor do they care), The White House, in another slap to the American people has launched a new initiative last night that is sure to get some blood boiling. Enter the #RefugeesWelcome hashtag. Because, like, every thing needs a hashtag, (especially when you’re trying to appeal to the low-information crowd who thinks you walk on water.)

From The White House Facebook Page:

Even as we intensify our efforts in coordination with our partners to take out ISIL, we cannot turn our backs on those most threatened by the terrorist group. The refugees that have captivated so much attention in the wake of Friday’s attack are fleeing precisely the type of senseless slaughter that occurred in Paris.

It’s as serious as a heart attack when a hashtag is created by The White House. I mean, you know they mean business now. On the White House website, Deputy Assistant to the President for Homeland Security Amy Pope denounced Republicans for calling to block refugees in the country.

I mean, why wouldn’t refugees be welcome in the United States? Especially three year-old orphans? POTUS, of course, had to take a jab.

Now onto the serious stuff. It’s not enough that France is mourning. It is not enough that some of us mourn with France and some of us still mourn 9/11 and our family members, brothers and sisters who went to fight the War on Terror and never came back, who were on those planes that day and never came back or who went to work that day and never returned. We are still and continue to be more divided than ever. And now, we have a HASHTAG to further propagate the division. We have a President who is so used to the masses saying every thing he does is awesome. This man is as callous as they come when it comes to the feelings of American people who do not side with his decisions and who see through his agenda. We have a man in The White House who is cunning enough to play games with the very people he is supposed to lead and this is completely unacceptable. How dare he say that Americans are cruel and lack compassion in front of the cameras because some Americans legitimately fear that ISIS terrorists may sneak in under the radar of a mass exodus of Syrian refugees. How dare he encourage the Christian versus Muslim dialogue and spin this whole issue back on the American people. How dare he be so cavalier to spin it in a way meaning to illustrate that the compassion of the American people is lacking. He is the token “good guy” here, Barack Obama…just trying to do what is “right” in this world and point fingers in every other direction in this process. After all, how dare we be selective about whether or not the Syrian refugees entering the country are Muslims or Christians. How dare we question intentions. How dare we question our government’s ability to screen these individuals. How dare we be concerned that in the midst of families, widows and small children wanting a shot at a better life, that pure evil may be lurking in the shadows. Am I alone in seeing what is happening here?

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.” –Emma Lazarus

Yes, a shot at freedom and a better life is one of the beautiful aspects of our rich history as a Nation. Tired, poor, homeless, tempest-tossed, yes. All of us can attest to the fact that our ancestors may have fit one or several of those descriptions when they came upon our shores. Unfortunately, instead of mocking and finding fault with our humanity as Americans, most of whom came from these humble beginnings, our President needs to zero in on the (really) wretched amongst these “huddled masses”.

  • In 2003 my wife and I were married in her home country of Tanzania and immediately began the process for coming to the US as my spouse. What had been billed as a “routine” process soon became a nightmare and required the intervention of two different Members of Congress to fix the mess the US Embassy in Tanzania had created.

After coming to the US in January 2005 we applied for her I551 (a.k.a. “green card”). The USCIS promptly lost her application and paperwork, yet never informed us. We only found out about it by accident when a USCIS officer who actually gave a damn discovered the loss. We got the straightened out just before her temporary permit expired.

Yesterday my wife and I went to San Antonio for her citizenship interview (she is in the process of becoming a US citizen). This whole process has hammered home one obvious truth: if you try to immigrate to the US legally you will be screwed. But if you sneak across the border illegally, or if you belong to a politically favored group such a being a Muslim, then you get to cut to the front of the line.

So when Obama starts yammering about “orphans” and starts demonizing those who object to letting in terrorists I call BULLSHIT! It is painfully clear that Obama and his army of Diversity and Tolerance Nazis don’t give a rat’s ass about someone like my wife who wants to play by the rules and come here legally. They just want to play the race card.

I’m sorry that you and your wife are currently going through this. I cannot imagine how frustrating this is for the both of you. Yes, I feel for the mothers and the children who are just trying to get here (or somewhere else) because they are in oppressed conditions and want better lives for themselves. I feel for the families. I think deep down inside, as Americans, we all can identify with someone in our family tree who has come here with nothing but the clothes on their back for a better life and America gave it to them. My family came from Sicily, Calabria and the Czech Republic in the early 1900s, processed in at Ellis Island. They were dirt poor and had nothing. I think what some people are missing here is the psychological game that is being played by our Commander in Chief. To him (put his picture next to the definition of narcissist in the dictionary), THIS plight is not about the “orphans” as he says. It’s about HIM…and HIM alone doing what HE wants and laying the smack-down on those who are even slightly in opposition. He does not care about those kids and he does not care about America only his agendas-which all seem, interestingly enough, to be causing division amongst us all-collectively.
