Watergate Redux: Trump Accuses Obama of Wiretapping Trump Tower. [VIDEO]

If you thought this was going to be a quiet weekend in Political Land, you were wrong. Very, very wrong.

In the wee hours of Saturday morning, President Trump tweeted out this bombshell accusation:

And, this being Donald Trump, he wasn’t finished.

Dear readers, I was in college during the Watergate scandal and remember how it rocked the nation. If the wiretap story is true, this could be Watergate on steroids.

CNN’s early report claims that neither the White House nor the Obama camp had provided them any response.

Former Obama deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes angrily posted that no, there’s nothing to see here — move along.

Oh, but not so fast. Law professor and blogger Glenn Reynolds notes that “LBJ used government resources to spy on opponents. Why should we think Obama wouldn’t?”

National Review’s Andrew C. McCarthy — no fan of President Trump — reported that the Obama administration did try to use the FISA courts to conduct surveillance on some Trump associates:

Instead, the Obama Justice Department decided to pursue the matter as a national-security investigation under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). In June, it sought the FISA court’s permission to conduct surveillance on a number of Trump associates — and perhaps even Trump himself. It has been reported that Trump was “named” in the application, but it is not publicly known whether he (a) was named as a proposed wiretap target, or (b) was just mentioned in passing in the application.

Combine that with news of Obama’s dragon lady Valerie Jarrett moving into the former President’s DC mansion intent on fomenting an “insurgency” against President Trump, the living set-up being called a “nerve center.” As reported to the British Daily Mail by a friend of the Obama family, the goal is to “oust Trump from the presidency either by forcing his resignation or through his impeachment.”

Obama’s “nerve center.”

I’m not sure what to believe here. However, seeing how some former presidents in a not-so-distant past had a penchant for wiretapping their rivals, Trump’s accusations may not be off the mark. And then there’s Obama, who has made it clear through his actions that he is not about to go quietly into a role as dignified former statesman. No one could seriously accuse former President George W. Bush of pulling these kinds of shenanigans in his post-presidency. But with Obama, that’s a whole other ball game.

So hunker down, everyone.

Not only a bumpy night, but the next four years, too. Fasten your seatbelts indeed.

TRUMP: OBAMA BUGGED ME – Headline from Drudge

I wonder how many people had a response similar to mine. “Hell, he’s been ‘bugging’ me for more than eight years now!”

Let’s see… in last 8 years. Overreach by EPA, IRS, DoJ… We are talking wetlands, ponds and water stuff, stupid birds and frogs… 501C3 organizations targeted, police departments fined for DOING THEIR JOB…

Fact is, they had to do FISA in several incarnations to get what was needed to – ummm tap the tower. and this was done before Obama was out of office. So hey, connect the dots and it lands on… not trump.

Hey, Berry, Valerie, Hil-liar-y, Chucky Schrumer, Nancy Pelosi and your minions in the MSM, does the phrase “Punch back twice as hard” ring a bell?

I was a strong supporter of Cruz, I thought djt was not sincere about his nebulous campaign promises and an unfocused hot head. I still see him as an all too often tweet before you think loose cannon. However, he is a master of “rope a dope”. Now he needs to hit back with actual evidence. We’ll see.
