UCCShooting: What Motivated Chris Harper-Mercer?

Who was the Umpqua Community College shooter, now identified as Chris Harper-Mercer, and what was in his mind?

It’s early in this story, but facts about him — along with photos — are starting to emerge.

It’s not likely that he was a Muslim, and when I tried to check the GotNews.com site, it was down. However, there are other sources who are giving us a picture of this disturbed person, and he was not religious, much less a Muslim.

The British website express.co.uk found some interesting tidbits about Harper-Mercer. First, he was a Nazi aficionado who set up a dating profile on the website Spiritual Passions, calling himself ironcross45, probably in reference to the German military medal. He may have purchased Nazi paraphernalia, and oddly enough, was supportive of the Irish Republican Army. His MySpace account was filled with images of the IRA.

Harper-Mercer also expressed admiration for Vester Flanagan, the shooter who shot a cameraman and a news reporter in Roanoke, Virginia, in August. Writing at MySpace under the online identify Lithium_Love, he wrote on August 31:

“On an interesting note, I have noticed that so many people like him are all alone and unknown, yet when they spill a little blood, the whole world knows who they are. … A man who was known by no one, is now known by everyone. His face splashed across every screen, his name across the lips of every person on the planet, all in the course of one day. Seems the more people you kill, the more you’re in the limelight.”

Like his notorious hero Vester Flanagan, Chris Harper-Mercer spilled a lot of blood, and now the entire nation knows who he is. And like the Nazis he admired, Harper-Mercer was an embodiment of pure evil.

  • If Obama had a son, he’d look like Chris.

Its sad to see so many innocent lives lost in the Oregon campus shooting. My heart goes out to the victims and their families. My question is why is America the only country in the world with the problem of school shootings? I remember as a teenager the columbine shootings. It makes me ask the question who is actually behind these horrific acts? I believe its part social media and the influence of government mind manipulation. A very small percentage of Americans are effected by sounds and visuals found in every day media. (movies, music, commercials) Its a fact that the citizens of this country are walking guinea pigs. And it goes back to the 40’s. Remember the C.I.A. mind control experiments conducted in the 50’s? If you don’t believe me that we are walking experiments than look on the label of your favorite snack cakes the next time you are at the store. I found titanium dioxide in my daughters favorite candy. Its used for killing insects and mold. WTF?

Ironic that the shooter identified himself at the “Spiritual Passions” website as a ––– conservative Republican. You will never hear that repeated on any Right Wing blog. I’ve even seen stories written, with that “About Me” profile with his political affiliation edited out. WTF? And what did he actually SAY about Christians? NOTHING! Mercer said he “hates organized religions!” He also went off on materialism, and the dude does not do drugs, nor smoke, and he works out. SO, IN CONCLUSION: The shooter was a Right Wing Republican who hated organized religion, and decided to commit mass murder. The Right Wing have already silenced the info on his republican profile, calling him a Muslim or a Liberal… who targets only Christians.

SO MUCH FOR INTELLECTUAL HONESTY. So much for truth. Truth is dead, with the Right Wing.

I am aghast — are you trying to whitewash the shooter by claiming that he didn’t exhibit animosity towards Christians because he didn’t say anything negative about them? He shot them. How much more evidence of hate do you want?

As far as your assertion that “you will never hear that repeated on any Right Wing blog” that the shooter identified as a conservative Republican — well, you read it here, didn’t you? I didn’t attempt to edit that information out, nor did our site moderator ask me to do so. I posted the facts as they presented themselves, without spin.

This was an evil event, perpetrated by a twisted, depraved individual. The families haven’t even buried their loved ones, and you chose to politicize it. Shame on you.
