the gop’s national council for a new america

the gop’s national council for a new america

the national council for ‘a new america’ is a movement or listening tour begun by the republican party – using some of our top leadership like mitt romney, eric cantor, jeb bush – to help reshape the party’s image in the wake of the routing it took in the 2006 and 2008 elections. also participating will be john mccain, bobby jindal and other top-tier gop. even sarah palin’s office has reportedly been contacted to participate as well.

sounds great except for one thing…i want the old america back.

it’s an age old argument about do we freshen up our ideas and vision to look more like democrats or do we return back to tried and true conservative principles that the gop party says it values.

it’s true that fewer and fewer americans are calling themselves republicans – but i think thats because many felt betrayed by the party with their big spending and dem-lite behaviors. and it is also true that many conservatives like myself reject the call for ‘big tent’ politics if it’s solely to get pro-abortion and gay rights independents that cannot accept the core conservative plank.

i think this is a good time to have this conversation. more and more americans feel that politicians of all stripes do not represent their interests. frustration has boiled over when it comes to bailouts and spending. and there is widespread anger at the state of the economy.

taping into this populist revolt really does fall into conservative belief systems of smaller government, lower taxes. if the republican leadership listens carefully to what the people need from their government and come up with the right plan based on conservative principles to achieve those goals, they can win again. if however, its about dropping pro-life from the plank and embracing our inner liberal it just won’t work.

personally i don’t think it’s about an outdated party like some suggest or a simple nostalia for ronald reagan’s return. the libs and some gop’ers want to paint reagan as a cult figure personality like they have obama. they don’t get that for conservatives – real ones – its the policies and the principles of reagan conservatism that are missing. the republican party needs that back, the grassroots, and the people themselves.

we don’t need ‘a re-branding’ if it simply means looking more like the democrats. as rush says, we don’t need a listening tour, we need a teaching tour. we need converts to conservatism. we have amazing ideas. we need to teach them and use them effectively.

we don’t need their kind of hope and change. remember: we’ve seen it and it’s pretty bad.

  • Pat says:

Kate as much as I like you, this is just too idealistic and exactly illustrates the problem with the GOP.

The country is changing. On almost every social issue, Americans continue to become more tolerant – on abortion and gay rights especially. But on almost every issue, the Republican base is out of step with the rest of the country. Your Reagan era views of sexuality, science, families even faith are not acceptable to the everyday American. Face it. Republicans are becoming, like the dinosaur, extinct.

  • Pat says:

I forgot to mention that imo one of the biggest problems not mentioned in your piece for the GOP is the Dem’s have stolen the Republicans oh so important moderate constituency – the critical business community. Bill Clinton gets the last laugh on that one.

  • micky says:

I dont like this. It makes us look pathetic when we have to go off on these tours asking americans how we can better define or label the conservative paty.
We just had thousands of protests across the country telling these guys what we want which was basically a return to the Reagan policies of smaller government, less taxes and regulations. Where were they ? Were they even listening ?
Its one thing to be humble and smart by asking for input, its another to look clueless.
I sure hope they dont come up some stupid slogan or a bunch of regurgitated promises.

  • Dade Cariaga says:

This is a heartfelt post. And Kate, believe me, I know your pain. It’s the same thing I felt in 2004 after the election.

Pat makes some good points about the country changing. Especially with polls showing consistently that younger people (under 35) do not have the negative feelings associated with gays that older people do. And the racial divide is narrowing as well.

I doubt, however, that the GOP will become extinct. And I certainly hope it doesn’t! This country needs at least 2 strong parties to keep one another in check.

The GOP will moderate some of their views. Just as the Democrats did with Clinton, and with Obama. They must. Remember, you are an idealist, as are many of your GOP “base” compatriots. But politicians are much more –er –pragmatic. It’s called survival. Arlen Specter is a case in point.

For my part, I hope the GOP gets its act together. Ultimately, that is what would be best for the country.

  • micky says:

    Thank you Dade.
As I’ve tried to explain to others, Absolute power and totalitarian rule corrupts, no matter who has that power. One state parties always fail to where we all suffer due to the knee jerk reaction that an opposing one state will fix in return will correct the wrongs of the previous.

  • PenniePan says:

Oh God! The GOP and their endless whines as evidenced by this sadly wistful post. Actually, it’s an endless supply of really bad policies, followed by an endless inability to accept the rejection of those policies, followed by an attempt to recycle those really bad policies by calling them something fresh and new. Such nauseating spin.

  • Ken says:

Very interesting post, Kate. I am not so sure that the Republicans need to “retool” their belief system. I don’t think that things like smaller government, free market, and strong defense ever go out of style. Like you, I believe they began to act too much like democrats. That plus a media that is firmly in the back pocket of the democratic party.

Socially, I’m not so sure the country is becoming more moderate either. Propisition 8 was passed in California, CALIFORNIA, perhaps the epicenter of progessive politics. Not only that, the proposition was supported by 70% of African Americans who voted. African Americans are typically democrats.

I think after a few years of pure, unobstructed democrat rule we will see quite a turn around in the feelings toward democrats and Republicans.

  • Ken says:

It was such a productive, mature, intelligent converstation…….until you should up Pennie. Nicely done.

  • Saginaw_MI says:

If this group is the best you can do for GOP leaders listening to what the people think, it’s over and certainly good news for our side. These are the republicans who lied to this country over and over again. By the way, last week was the 6th anniversary of your “mission accomplished” event.

  • crypticsound says:

What a bunch of bed wetters!

Your problem is that more Americans are finally paying attention and hate what they saw in your lame, repressive party of hate. We’ve been trying to warn them for years and they finally woke up. It also didn’t hurt that we found one of the best candidates to come along in our generation. I can’t wait for 2010 because I am sure you will lose another 6 or 7 seats. Then we’ll see some real bed wetting.

  • Ted says:

    >>kate said: and it is also true that many conservatives like myself reject the call for ‘big tent’ politics if it’s solely to get pro-abortion and gay rights independents that cannot accept the core conservative plank.

I agree. Compromising with evil is never good and selling your soul for 30 pieces of silver never has a good conclusion. I don’t expect the USA to last forever, and currently the Dems have us riding on a 100 lane freeway leading to destruction. Why the GOP would want to make it into a 99 lane freeway because it’s a little better makes no sense, the road is still leading to destruction. Conservatives are realists, liberals are idealists. There’s a point where realism and idealism walk hand in hand, but then idealism goes off in a direction that leads to doom. This country needs to get back to realism, and quickly.

  • The_Reluctant_Pundit says:

Whoa. You all really believe the lies don’t you? The Republicans spin and spin for years and years and have run this country into the ground. Those very leaders now tell you it will all be okay and YOU BELIEVE THEM. You have obviously grown up in the lies and its your reality now. Micky is even singing Kumbaya with Dade.

@Kate: you in some ways are the most tragic here. You are intelligent and I don’t doubt you love the country but you are very naive, very wrong and very lost in idealism that never existed. You need to come to grips with the fact that your leaders have lied to you for decades?

  • micky says:

“You need to come to grips with the fact that your leaders have lied to you for decades?”

Yes, the democrats and Obama are just a gleaming vision of truth, arent they ?

    Reluctant.
You obviously have no clue as to how our government is supposed to work and why the founders set it up the way they did.
The only real form of democracy in our government is the electorate. Which was desigend to give everyone a voice that dictates the wants of the country. The opposing voices be it the statesmen we elect of the constituents that elected them are there to trim the excess of the party in power.
Many level headed educated liberals and conservatives agree that a two party state is an absolute necessity in maintaining a functional balance in power.
Because Dade and I agree that a totalitarian one state rule breeds corruption does not make for KUMBAYA it just makes for two people who know their a$$ from a hole in the ground.
Look back at what happened with the Carter era. We had a one party rule that ran the country into the ground to where the only option was to bring in conservative policies aka Ronald Reagan.
This ( I believe ) is whats happening all over again

  • Jane says:

For thirty years, the GOP has been all about having policies that screw everyone but the rich, and having good enough PR to make people think it’ll be good for them. Now they do a “listening tour” just like democrats have always done thinking this is their salvation. Wrong. They don’t want to be dems but want to do what dems do best for victory. There is a word for that and its hypocrits.

  • micky says:

“They don’t want to be dems but want to do what dems do ”

    LOL.

  • BikerDan says:

Conservative principles lead the GOP. What do the moderates in the GOP have for lowering the deficits and shrinking government? What do moderates have that will stop socialism and advance liberty in the world? What do the moderates of the GOP have for their overarching principles? By virtue of being called ‘moderate’ they don’t have any!!! The GOP does not operate with ‘a big tent’. It is impossible in our structure – you are either pro life or pro abortion; pro taxes or lower taxes; big government or little government. There is just no ‘moderate’ principles in the GOP. So if there is heartburn there, its not because of the conservative.

  • Jared says:

Yeah well there’s a lot of lying going around. Obama lied during his campaign.
I had no idea I was going to be as excited about his policies. He lied to us! He didn’t tell us he would get so much done so quickly. What a lying liar he is!

  • Jane says:

““They don’t want to be dems but want to do what dems do ”

    LOL.”

Hmmm Someone is attempting to bait. If I should respond, he will squeal in so many words “I am being picked on! I am a victim! I am playing nice and they aren’t!!”

But I won’t respond. If I did, that would be something to LOL at.

  • kate says:

‘@Kate: you in some ways are the most tragic here.’

pundit now that was a dopey thing to say. you don’t get it. i don’t put my faith in a person, like you do in The One, to fix my world. i put my faith in principles and values and core beliefs. they outlive people, they are eternal. and when these are practiced, people thrive.

but honorable mention for dramatic effect.

    _____

    bikerdan. very well said sir.

    _____

‘your lame, repressive party of hate.’

cryptosound the democratic party has repressed its constituency for decades by making them dependent on goverment handouts for everything, stiffling entrepreneurialship and free enterprise. not wanting people to prosper by their own hand sounds like hate to me. the war on poverty of the 60’s? the best campaign initiative for voter recruitment by democrats in a century.

  • Ken says:

So sad that all the neo-socialist trolls that infest his site can do nothing but repeat what they see on Bill Maher or Keith Olbermann’s show. I am thoroughly convinced that an independent thought would kill any of them.

  • kate says:

    ‘this sadly wistful post’

pennie that is an inaccurate read of my post. it’s not sad or wistful. i actually feel determined. strong. and strangely confident. and the irony? i have your leader, The One, to thank for that.

  • micky says:

No Jane, its not any of what you suspect.

    Its like this.

“For thirty years, the GOP has been all about having policies that screw everyone but the rich, and having good enough PR to make people think it’ll be good for them.”

Those thirty years began after Ronald Reagan came to office bringing with him a financial philosophy that even Bill Clinton took advantage of that kept this country fairly properous for decades across all demographics.
That philosophy was badly needed after Carter subjected the country to almost the exact same policies that Obama is subjecting us to now.
Its deja vu all over again.
What you say the dems are doing that has given you successs are actually failed policies of the past with a fresh coat of paint on them that are destined to fail as they always have. They look good up front and help for a while but in the long run cost more than they are worth or produce. Obama will fail in his term much the way Carter did. Much like Carter his numbers are falling along the same trends as people are beginning to get hip to what hes doing and the direction hes taking the country. The trend is that more are becoming less approving, Obamas approval was around 40% at 1/20/09 and has sank to between 34 to 37% today. Those not approving has risen, 19% at 1/20/09 to 30% today
Conservatives and the GOP have had excellent policies allowing individual rights, free trade and commerce to flow without the government being involved in every aspect of ones life, thats why it worked for so long. The examples of this philosophy were good enough for republicans to win the majority of presidential elections in this country since the two parties existed.
Recently in our pathetic attempts to gain votes weve cast those principles off to the side and began to look more like exactly what the country is rejecting right now which is massive government spending and intervention into our lives.
This is why we are having these get togethers to see how we can better redifine our intentions and image. As I said earlier its upsetting because we just had nationwide protests explaining what the country wants. Thats the image we need to maintian, the one that the people showed us that day.

No, we do not want to be what you are, or what you stand for, trust me.

“Now they do a “listening tour” just like democrats have always done thinking this is their salvation. Wrong. They don’t want to be dems but want to do what dems do best for victory. There is a word for that and its hypocrits.”

Please, lets not go into hypocrisy. Fresh off the top of my head I can come up with at least a dozen examples of hypocrisy that makes the democratic party what it is today.

  • Ted says:

I find the Dem party/libs to be the equivalent of the nations of Israel and Judah back in 721BC and 586BC respectively when they were lead into Assyrian and Babylonian captivity. They also were nations that had changed, especially in social issues and in tolerance of immorality. Of course they had been warned time and time again that unless they reversed course, their fate lay ahead. But, they closed their ears and would not hear the truth.

This country has the same opportunity as did they. How many more chances will we be given before our time is up, until there is no remedy but to bring it to punish the nation? As evidenced the past 2 election cycles, and with the types of issues that are being greeted with open arms, the people have turned to unrighteousness, and as always the “enlightened” uphold evil try and tell us that their is no accountability larger than themselves. They’re fighting against a power they can’t begin to understand who will deal with them in the time and way He sees fit, just as He dealt with Israel and Judah. Kate says she places her faith in things eternal, and that is and will always be the only surety we will ever have.

  • micky says:

” uphold evil try and tell us that their is no accountability larger than themselves.”

Yup. The idea that answering to ones self creates a lot of room for justification of just about anything.

  • Rocky says:

Can we have an alter call brethren? Oh pleeeez. Here’s what’s up: you lost. You are in the wilderness for at least 4 years but probably 8. We own the congress, the White House, and soon enough the courts. You have NO power to make changes or stop any legislation. You can have your meetings and coffee clatches. Pull out your tired old white guys who will pretend to listen but it won’t change the way your political power (or lack thereof) in this country is for a very long time.

  • micky says:

Just remember rocky. You own what ever happens in the next 4 years.
How will you guys ever be able to function with no one Bush and only yourselves to blame for the inevitable collapse that is shaping up as we speak ?
Taking it all from you will be your own doing and not take much effort on our part at all.
You guys are already falling apart and your only resolve is to post your bragging rights as theres really no accomplishment worthy of this loser president to date other than the typical standard movements of any executive. Yea, he signed a few papers and ran off a few more platitudes.
    Good luck with that.

You dont own anything except for a congress that even your own people have said they want out ASAP and president whos numbers are falling

  • Ken says:

“Pull out your tired old white guys who will pretend to listen but it won’t change the way your political power (or lack thereof) in this country is for a very long time.”

How racist, yet expected. As micky has pointed out, your “blame Bush” routine will not fly much longer. You will not be able to blame “obstructionist” Republicans when Obama’s plans ruin the economy. I don’t think we will be out of the game as long as you think, at least not with the crap the dems are pulling. Obama’s popularity rate was the same as Bush’s after 100 days. Imagine that.

Keep playing your “we won” game, you won’t be in charge forever. It is quite telling that the party that promised “bipartisanship” is acting like a child on a playground with the only soccer ball.

  • Jim says:

“Just remember rocky. You own what ever happens in the next 4 years.”

“You dont own anything except for a congress that even your own people have said they want out ASAP and president whos numbers are falling”

    You make no sense dude.

Rocky is basically right. I guess all this is just an exercise for you rightwingers to help you prevent blowing your brains out. You can say Barack is a failure (because you don’t like him and you fear him) but actually that is not what the evidence is showing. You base everything on your personal feelings but not on facts. The economy is already showing subtle but definate upticks. The polls show that Americans by a hardy margin feel the country is going in the right direction and that Barack is well liked by the majority of the country. By the time the 2010 elections come around, the economy will be stablizing and people vote with their wallets. Especially you Republicans.

  • micky says:

“You make no sense dude. ”

    I make no sense ?

“The polls show that Americans by a hardy margin feel the country is going in the right direction and that Barack is well liked by the majority of the country.”

    Not true.
Yea, Obama is liked generally in a personal manner, but when it comes down to his policies its a different story.

    The latest AP poll asked;
Do you think the country is headed in the right direction?
    No 58%
    Yes 42%

Rasmussen says pretty much the same thing>
“The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 37% of U.S. voters say the nation is heading in the right direction. That figure has not changed for three weeks. Most (58%) still say the United States is heading down the wrong track. ”

The economy cant help but show “upticks”
how much longer do you think things can freefall like they have with or without a stimulus that wasnt designed to take effect for 2 to 3 years ?
The only “uptick” is the housing market which has only come up about 2% in the last week and a slight rise in Chinas GDP. Unemployment is still dropping, banks wont loan money,no ones buying cars and money is being shipped out to avoid ridiculous taxation.
Any economist will tell you that as a result of our worthless dollar inflation is a given that will happen whithin at least a year.

In addition Rasmussen also backs my claims on how the country, especialy dems feel about what is the sh*ttiest congress in our history’

“while there’s been a 10-point drop in the number who say Congress is Very Likely to tackle such issues. It’s also the lowest overall finding since President Obama took office on January 20.”
Now 42% say Congress is not very or not at all likely to confront serious national issues.

“Eighteen percent (18%) of voters say Congress is doing a good or excellent job, while 46% rate its performance as poor.”

“Most voters (55%) continue to believe that Congress has not passed any legislation that will significantly improve life in America, but 22% disagree.”

“Seventy percent (70%) say most members of Congress are more interested in their own careers than in sincerely helping people. Only 17% think congressmen put the interests of other people first. These numbers have remained largely unchanged since surveying began on this question in late 2006. ”

“For just the second time in more than five years of tracking, Republicans now lead Democrats in the latest edition of the Generic Congressional Ballot. Forty-one percent (41%) say they would vote for their district’s Republican candidate while 38% would choose the Democrat. ”

So you see my friend, I make plenty of sense seeing as how I have real evidence and dont expect everyone to just take my word for it.
The sense is that you wont have anyone to blame but yourselves when it all comes crashing down. By that time the ole “its Bushs fault” just wont pan out anymore.

And then theres the moderate and far left base thats getting a little tee’d off about Obama following all of Bushs security policies.
Wait til the word gets out that Obama is reconsidering military tribunals after all his huffing and puffing about how unconstitutional and wrong they are. Thats gonna be fun to watch.

    NYTs;
“On May 2, 2009, the Obama administration indicated that it was moving toward reviving the military commission system, which had been halted in January. Mr. Obama was expected, though, to amend the Bush administration’s system, to provide more legal protections for terrorism suspects. Continuing the commissions in any form would probably prompt sharp criticism from human rights groups as well as some of Mr. Obama’s political allies ”

Just another broken promise that you guys dont seem to ewant to talk about

  • micky says:

“(because you don’t like him and you fear him)”

    Yea, like a drunk driver.

  • Rocky says:

Micky you must be the resident village idiot. You didn’t respond to my pointing out your double speak so I will highlight it again:

“Just remember rocky. You own what ever happens in the next 4 years.”

“You dont own anything except for a congress that even your own people have said they want out ASAP and president whos numbers are falling”

You REALLY make no sense dude in fact you are laughable.

Secondly you quoted a right wing pollster in Rasmussen. Try the AP poll which by all standards is a middle of the road pollster with both Dem and Rep.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090423/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_obama100_days_ap_poll

“So you see my friend, I make plenty of sense seeing as how I have real evidence and dont expect everyone to just take my word for it.”

Believe me you are not my friend and would never be. You are ridiculous. Broken promises? You like say that but nothing the size of government turns on a dime. He has kept most of the promises or is moving toward that in some degree — something not all presidents can say in their first 100 days.

  • Ted says:

AP is definately left-wing. As with most libs on the net, they’re so far left, they think the left is the right. Other libs sources are ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, CNBC, NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Reuters, USAToday, UPI, and a host of others.

  • micky says:

    Rocky.
So, since you cant seem to get very far with your laughable sources you’re gonna start with the name calling ?

Here’s the link to my claim that even your own party wants congress in its present form out.
    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/59_would_vote_to_replace_entire_congress

” Still, just 25% of those in Barack Obama’s party would vote to keep the entire Congress even though it’s controlled by Democrats. “

Second of all if I were to look for some left wing propaganda AP is the first place I would go.
Do you see the AP poll I referd to above ? Well, there’s even more behind that poll that I left out that proves without a doubt they’re pushing left wing propaganda.
About a week ago I found something really screwed up with an AP story that AOL carried on my home page while conducting a poll on the exact same subject right under the article.

AP Headline; “For the first time in years, more Americans than not say the country is headed in the right direction”

And then I go to look at the results from the AP poll directly under the article.

Do you think the country is headed in the right direction?
    No 58%
    Yes 42%

    Unbelievable.
The majority of the people reading the article didn’t agree with it and yet the article stayed up all day, the percentages stayed the same all day.
Most people do not feel the country is headed in the right direction yet the media is going to do its best to make us think it is hoping for the bandwagon effect.
The poll that was supposed to support the articles claim actually contradicted it.
    How embarrassing
So you see “DUDE” its pretty clear that Rasmussen has a much more non bias agenda than AP which to date has been recognized more often than not for its left wing bias.

Now, to address your asinine claim that I make no sense. Let me spell it out for you.
    —————————-
Just remember rocky. You own what ever happens in the next 4 years.”

“You don’t own anything except for a congress that even your own people have said they want out ASAP and president who’s numbers are falling”

You REALLY make no sense dude in fact you are laughable.
    ——————————————

You and your president are responsible for anything that happens in the next four years. You own what happens in the next 4 years. Got it ?
“TO DATE” the only thing you own is the worst (maybe second worst) congress in this countrys history. Sense enough for you ?
Please, spare me your feigned condescending confusion, it makes sense to everyone for the last couple months, except for you.

“something not all presidents can say in their first 100 days.”

The fact is that Bushs approval was exactly the same at this point in his term also and by the time Sept. 12th rolled around he’d already done more for this country than Barry ever could in his whole miserable life.

  • …followed by an attempt to recycle those really bad policies by calling them something fresh and new…

PenniePan said this about the Republican party. And yet…hasn’t P.BO done this with several Bush policies, including GITMO, Iraq & Afghanistan, to name but a few.

You base everything on your personal feelings but not on facts.

Jim said this as an attack on those of us on the right. Um – have you read any of the left leaning blogs for the past 8 years? Pot – meet kettle.

I agree with Kate and like her, I feel strong and empowered. Conservatives are down – yes. But the 8 years of Bill Clinton show that we are never going to be out. It’s Clinton’s foreign policies that brought us 9/11; and it’s Bush’s foreign policies that made that horrific day the only one since then … so far.

Even the bailouts that those of you on the left want to give credit to P.BO for, were started by Bush. Like them or not…

Conservatives have a unique opportunity now to not reinvent the party, but to get back to the core values that make us conservative – as Kate said – smaller government and less taxes. Speaking for myself, it’s not about the social stuff – I do consider myself somewhat socially liberal. It’s about the size of government and right now it’s so huge it overshadows everyone and everything that makes this country great.

The 2 party system that our founding fathers designed.

  • micky says:

    Rocky;
” He has kept most of the promises or is moving toward that in some degree — something not all presidents can say in their first 100 days.”

    Screwed you on Nafta.
    Screwed you on military tribunals
    Screwed you on renditions
    Screwed you on withdrawal dates
Screwed you on income tax for seniors making less than $50,000
Screwed you on allowing five days of public comment before signing bills
Screwed you on saying he would not bring in lobbtists (After 100 days, an awful lot of former lobbyists are cashing government paychecks.)
Screwed you on penalty free retirement accounts for seniors in 2008 and 2009
Screwed you when he said; “as President I will recognize the Armenian Genocide”
Screwed you when he said he would tax windfall oil profits
Screwed you on subsidies for agriculture
Screwed you on his promise to talk with Iran having no pre conditions.
Screwed you when he bombed Pakistan twice already
Screwed you and everyone on the AIG bailouts

I’ll bet I can find more. but really, arent these enough broken promises for anyones first hundred days ? At this rate I hate to imagine what you guys will be going thru in a few months.
Damn, I’ll bet psychiatrists and psychologists will be booked for months.

  • Ken says:

Jim and Rocky are prime examples of the left mindeset. They spent years bashing Bush and everything he did, regardless of what it was. Now if someone says anything bad against Barack it is immediately labeled “hate”.

Keep dreaming about an improved economy fellas. Barack has not yet begun to dismantle it, just wait. As far as his popularity, you apparently missed the part where I noted that Obama’s popularity was the same as Bush on the 100 day mark. But, hey, don’t let the facts get in your way, they rarely do when you’re dealing with the neo-socialists.

“Secondly you quoted a right wing pollster in Rasmussen. Try the AP poll which by all standards is a middle of the road pollster with both Dem and Rep.”

Thanks or proving my point, dude. You call Rasmussen “right wing” because it doesn’t show the results YOU want, but then refer to the AP as the “middle of the road pollster”.

    Priceless.

We first have to cure the Obama worship in the media and among many of our liberal bretheren.

There is a cute 12-step recovery program for Obama worshipers at:

might be good for a chuckle anyway.

“We don’t need their kind of hope and change. remember: we’ve seen it and it’s pretty bad. ”

LOL. Get over yourselves. After a while, whiners just get on everyone’s nerves.

  • Capt Quahog says:

Sarah Palin should not walk, but run in the opposite direction from this condescendingly titled, “National Council for a New America”.

“National Council for a New America” or “McCain and the GOP Undead Roam the Land” –

Here we go again . . . “Same Pointless Circus!” – “Same Clueless Clowns!”

This newly formed “National Council for a New America” just by the name and conception proves without doubt that the national Republican Party is absolutely out of touch with the American people.

Fact is, last November John McCain “LOST” the election by being rejected at the polls with the same irrelevant tune. What part of the word “LOST” don’t these arrogant idiots understand? Fact is, with McCain on the ticket, far too many tentative voters, rather than cast a ballot for that guy, simply stayed home.

Moving to the “moderate” or “leftist light” side of nothingness, yields nothing. Pushing another meaningless agenda packed with impotent, politically correct liberal swill will lead the Republicans further into their own putrid political swamp.

We were quite disheartened too, to learn that Mitt Romney and now Sarah Palin have thrown in with this cast of feckless hacks. Perhaps one day soon, McCain can help Romney and Palin find adjoining plots with him in the graveyard of unremembered politicians.

Replacement political movements are already on the rise within the United States. New organizations will jostle the obsolete Republican dinosaurs straight into the tar pits. The increasingly muddled national Republicans on the current course are headed for 19th Century Wig party oblivion.

Another reason never listen to liberals. They won the election and they’re STILL whining.
