Terror Chatter Up, Obama Strategy is Fundraising

Terror Chatter Up, Obama Strategy is Fundraising

This morning we awoke to the news that the chatter across the internet from Islamic terrorist organizations has significantly increased. What does this mean? Could be a variety of things. Is an attack planned and for where? The US intelligence community won’t say. One thing is for sure, given the 13th Anniversary of 9/11 is approaching; more talk from terrorists is a great way of putting everyone on edge. Is an attack planned on US soil? I don’t know as I’m not running through all the data, chatter, and information to help make that determination. What I do know is that one key terrorist group, ISIS/ISIL/IS – whatever their name is – has been and continues to threaten the United States. What I do know that that we should take this chatter very seriously, especially when you have one running around with $2 Billion to use in furtherance of their goals.  Furthermore, we should take this chatter seriously considering that A ISIS and Al Qaeda are conducting an internal leadership war.  When I say we, I mean all intelligence organizations including the FBI. Yes, the FBI whose internal intelligence report concluded:

the threat to U.S. internal security from extremists is limited to attacks and activities by eight types of domestic extremist movements—none motivated by radical Islam. They include anti-government militia groups and white supremacy extremists, along with “sovereign citizen” nationalists, and anarchists. Other domestic threat groups outlined by the FBI assessment include violent animal rights and environmentalist extremists, black separatists, anti- and pro-abortion activists, and Puerto Rican nationalists.

I would certainly hope the FBI is working to amend their report now that we have ISIS posting very real threats against the US across social media platforms and is brutally beheading Americans. Meanwhile, the British are taking this increase in chatter very seriously. Just today, at a press conference, Prime Minister David Cameron said:

ISIS now posed a ‘greater and deeper threat to our security than we have known before’. The PM said terrorism was ‘the most important issue facing this country today’. He also announced that new laws will be passed to make it easier to remove people’s passports if there are concerns they will travel to Iraq or Syria to join ISIS. The Prime Minister’s remarks came after the Home Secretary Theresa May stressed that there is no information to suggest an attack is imminent, but warned: ‘We face a real and serious threat in the UK from international terrorism.’

The Prime Minister also stated:

‘This threat cannot be solved simply by dealing with perceived grievances over Western foreign policy. Nor can it be dealt with by addressing poverty, dictatorship or instability in the region – as important as these things are. ‘The root cause of this threat to our security is quite clear. It is a poisonous ideology of Islamist extremism that is condemned by all faiths and faith leaders.’

Compare the Prime Minister’s press conference below to the one President Obama gave on Thursday when he told the world:  Strategy? What strategy? We don’t need no stinking strategy!

The terrorist chatter has increased, that much is clear. It is also clear that terrorist groups, particularly ISIS are leveling direct threats against our homeland. We should treat these threats as credible until or unless detailed information proves otherwise. In fact, the UK government believes these threats are so credible that they raised their threat level to ‘Severe.’ Meanwhile here in the US, we have our President still treating this as a JV basketball game. His strategy for the Labor Day weekend is fundraising at several events in New York state, attending the wedding of someone who works at MSNBC, and likely a smidgen of golf for relaxation. I believe I’d much rather go with the UK’s strategy than that of our Duffer in Chief, wouldn’t you?
