Sweet Goodbye Letter from Jack Pinto’s Best Friend; Victor Cruz visits Family

We know the name Jack Pinto now – we know a lot of their names. Jack was six years old and one of the 1st graders gunned down in the massacre last Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Jack Pinto’s best friend was John and by all accounts, they were inseparable. Yesterday, Jack Pinto was laid to rest and John wrote him this amazing goodbye letter pictured in the tweet of USA Today reporter Yamiche Alcindor below.

The letter says this and it’s heartbreaking:

Jack,
You are my best friend.
We had fun together.
I will miss you.
I will talk to you in my prayers.
I love you Jack.
Love,
John

You’ll remember that after learning over the weekend that Jack Pinto was a fan of his, NFL’s New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz wrote little Jack’s name on his shoes and gloves. Following his game with the Falcons, Victor Cruz promised to visit Pinto’s family this week.

Well Victor Cruz kept that promise.

Today, Victor Cruz visited with Jack Pinto’s family and several other families at the Pinto home in Newtown, Connecticut. He did not speak to the media, but children in attendance at the house played football in the yard and left with signed Giants balls and jerseys. Cruz spent several hours at the family’s home behind closed doors.

Victor Cruz later tweeted this:

“Much love to the entire Pinto family. Great people with huge hearts. I’m sorry again for your loss. Looking at life through a different lens.”

By the way, Jack Pinto was laid to rest wearing his Victor Cruz jersey.
