Secret Service was Never Asked to Prepare for Obama to Travel for the Paris March

The Obama administration has been taking a lot of heat for skipping out on the Paris March, while leaders from around the world walked arm in arm in support of France. And the international outrage stemmed not only from the fact that Obama was a no-show, despite a clear schedule, but that he didn’t even bother to send someone from his administration in his place. Biden didn’t attend, Kerry didn’t attend, and even though Eric Holder was in Paris, he didn’t bother to show up, either. Adding to the furor was that Obama was somehow able to find time to meet the San Antonio Spurs in the White House the very next day.

So the White House scrambled to find an acceptable excuse: they cited security concerns. It was just too dangerous to send Lord Obama to Paris, even though it was somehow safe enough for Benjamin Netanyahu and countless other leaders. Except now even that narrative has been blown to bits: the Secret Service was never even asked about necessary precautions to get Obama to Paris.

The White House cited security concerns and the fact that the rally came together quickly, in about 36 hours. Earnest said presidential or vice presidential security for events such as the march are “onerous” and have a “significant impact” on those who attend.

Had the circumstances been different, “I think the president himself would have liked to have had the opportunity to be there,” Earnest said.

A Secret Service official said the agency was not asked or notified about a potential trip to Paris.

Even White House spokesman Josh Earnest was forced to admit what a terrible decision this was, saying that “it’s fair to say we should have sent someone there”, claiming, though, that Obama was not personally involved in the decision. But it’s hard to imagine that, with over 40 world leaders making plans to attend the march in solidarity with France, Obama wouldn’t have weighed in at all. And even if that was the case, is that really any better? It just paints an even clearer picture of him as an absentee president. Angela Merkel, Benjamin Netanyahu, David Cameron, even Mahmoud Abbas — very high-profile world leaders all took the time to go to Paris. Obama couldn’t even be bothered to make sure that the United States was adequately represented at the march, and then made up a lame excuse to explain why he couldn’t be there.

It looks even worse when you add in that no senior officials attended the DC rally, either, one within walking distance from the White House. Were fake security concerns the reason for that, too? Is Obama only safe enough to leave the White House if it’s to visit a Hawaiian beach or an exclusive golf course?

Meanwhile, the media is digging in. Comparisons are now being made to George W. Bush, who, after the 9/11 attacks, refused to be intimidated by terrorism. Obama’s excuse is that he was too scared to attend the march in Paris; George Bush looked the terrorists in the eye and flipped them the bird, throwing out the first pitch at game three of the World Series in Yankee Stadium, to thunderous applause. And he also didn’t wear mom jeans in the process.

Obama and his liberal sycophants in the media promised Americans that he would restore America’s world standing, that he would repair our supposedly tarnished international reputation. Instead, it’s been misstep after misstep, one embarrassment after another. How’s that hope-and-change working for you now?

I’m actually loving this because it is showing the whole world what a turd this guy really is. I hope this has opened a lot of eyes around the world because the world reaction in 2008 to this guy was far beyond nauseating.

Why attend? The march wasn’t about him.

White House says President Obama was not the one who made the decision not to go to Paris march; says debate didn’t make it to him – @IsaacDovere

    1) Obama didn’t know! (again)
    2) Who’s in charge at the White House?

  • Joe Miller says:

I understand why he didn’t go to the march, but why did he miss the Imams’ services for the dead gunmen?

  • Penny says:

I LOVE the empty chair photo shop….how totally appropriate!!! A log of fecal matter on the seat would have been even more so!!

I agree with all of you…I am ashamed of my fellow Americans who voted for this Bolshevik/community organizer, not just once, but twice, for Pete’s sake!!

  • Tim says:

I will never understand why most Jewish people vote for Democrats. The left loves Islam and Palestine but hate Christians.

We have a President who clearly despises Israel and supports their enemies.
