Right to Secede Resolution Moves Forward in Wisconsin

Last week the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that the Wisconsin GOP was voting at committee level on a resolution upholding the right to secede.  In case you missed it, it’s now being reported that the resolution went through, and is set to be voted on by the full convention at the beginning of May.

Gov. Scott Walker is against the measure, and says that “I don’t think that [the resolution] aligns with where most Republican officials are in the state of Wisconsin – certainly not with me.”

Meanwhile, other folks aren’t so dismissive of what they see as the average Wisconsin citizen finally drawing a line in the sand against federal overreach.

Former committee member Danny Krueger explained that the symbolic measure only reflects the growing frustration among those who are tired of “big government” and federal intrusion. In fact, he said, the idea of secession actually follows in the tradition of America’s founders, who bravely fought to separate from an increasingly tyrannical British rule.

“If that’s crazy talk,” he said, “I would be happy to carry that as a badge of honor.”

By the way, the badge of honor being worn down at the Bundy ranch these days is a nametag that reads “domestic terrorist.”  Apparently a lot of us get badges of honor now.

    Damn straight! Wisconsin and any other state should have the right of secession! Scott Walker, while a vast improvement over the previous governor, is no conservative. Rather, he is merely a moderate. He is best pals with the likes of Paul Ryan and Reince Priebus. These men are concerned only with maintaining and expanding their own personal political a financial powers. They have no regard for the people they are alleged to represent.

    The Federal Government is broker than broke at 17+Trillion in debt and 100T in unfunded welfare liabilities, and is continuing its slow and agonizing death spiral. In 5-10 years there won’t be anything remaining to secede from.

    If the right to secede is granted, does that mean that the United States has to say, “Sorry!” to the Confederacy?

    Gov Walker has already signaled that the bill won’t survive, but it is the ONLY way individual states will have any hope of escaping the “redistribution” of bankrupt states’ (and the 18 trillion debt of the fed gov’t) debts to states daily proving they don’t need/want communists at the federal level wrecking their states.

    Dissolution of the so-called “Union” is the ONLY hope for freedom left, as it certainly is not going to be found in the Dead Elephant Party or the commie-lib Dem[on] Party. The Constitution is now a dead letter (thanx Chief Justice Running Dog Roberts!).

    Not only a right, but the Declaration Of Independence says it has a duty to do so.

    If the right to secede is granted, does that mean that the United States has to say, “Sorry!” to the Confederacy?

    It would be nice, but I don’t expect it. Because of the overriding issue involved in that seccession, I don’t think I actually want one.

    State talk of seceding. Federal land grab. Constitution – what’s that got to do with it? I got a pen and a phone. Less deportations than ever. Let illegals join our military. Keystone Pipeline – man, that’s a tough call. Fudging of the numbers on Obamacare. The ones that have been released that can be verified aren’t at all good. Are there any more international hotspots that can develop? And, . . .

    Probably time for the Obamas to take a vacation.

    When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, … , a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

    1) A professional political class that has voted themselves large salaries and pensions, extravagant vacations and “fact finding” trips, all on the taxpayer dime.

    2) A professional political class that has enacted reams of Legislation that has had the effect of eroding away the Liberties given by our Creator, while always making themselves exempt.

    3) A professional political class that seems to have forgotten how to speak simple Truth, but has elevated Dissembling to a fine art, while worshiping at the altar of “Nuance, and “Plausible Deniability.”

    4) An Election process that is bankrupt of any integrity.
