‘preventive detention’

‘preventive detention’

so The One’s administration will practice preventive detention in regards to the terrorists at gitmo. here’s the definition:

preventive detention the holding of someone in jail or in an institution because he or she is regarded as a danger to the community.

well my, my, my. that’s incredibly like what the bush administration did for eight years that kept us all safe. and that is EXACTLY what the left when apopoleptic over for eight years.

the continued blasting of the bush administration is just classless and makes me dislike obama even more if that’s possible. i suppose his hatefulness was simply for his left wing base since they are peeved. the bush folks didn’t ‘lose their way’ on the war on terror. they didn’t ‘create a mess’ that The One must clean up. they worked tirelessly under the greatest of pressures, in unprecedented times, to keep us safe. suck it up obama and just lead for gosh sakes!

obama’s new speak: long pretty speeches where you show how defensive you are; speeches that lack substance, real plans, or real hope and change. and when all else fails? tell your personal life story just one more time — because the left really, really loves it.

more on this later…
_____

well of course vice president cheney gave an incredible speech on national security following The One’s apology to the terrorists. it has been well covered by many others on the web who are far more eloquent then i am so i will save you a rant :).

however, here is cheney’s transcript of his speech for you to read and savor the timely and utterly fearless way he addresses whats become the audacity of obama. my favorite line from it is where he described The One’s national security policy decisions as ‘recklessness clothed in righteousness.’ can it be said any better?

but for you lefties… just remember his language is targeted to you.

he wants you to THINK he is with you, like you, in partnership with you. but the reality is he has changed very little of the bush national security policies. case in point: warrentless wiretaps, rendition, military tribunals, keeping enemy combatents forevah, and he said today that he is even holding back the use of EIT’s at his direction!

so in theory, the next ksm could be waterboarded at The One’s direction. :cough:

  • Ken says:

Pure distraction techniques, that’s all his “speech” was.

“I may not have a plan to deal with this, but Bush was such a horrible president!!!”

How pathetic. Perhaps he will demand another prime time hour from the networks, or go on David Letterman again, that worked last time!!

It’s like watching a child govern a nation.

  • Micky says:

Well, I think we can all rest assured that Gitmo will not be closing anytime soon.
Obama made this perfectly clear by letting us know that this will be one of the hardest things hes ever had to do.
Translation; “Dont come down on me too hard when Gitmo is still open next year, or the next”

  • mac says:

bush is a criminal that’s the difference butthead.

  • George says:

Gee Mac how old are you? 12?
Please enlighten us on what laws that President Bush broke that makes him a criminal.

Did you listen to any of Obama’s ramblings today? He say nothing. He always says nothing. He has no idea what he is doing. But one thing he will do, is deal with Gitmo the same as the Bush Adminisrtation did because there is nothing else to do.

Mac, OMG. Obama said “In dealing with this situation, we do not have the luxury of starting from scratch. We are cleaning up something that is – quite simply – a mess; a misguided experiment that has left in its wake a flood of legal challenges that my Administration is forced to deal with on a constant basis,” Obama said. “The problem exists because of the decision to open Guantanamo in the first place.”

Yeah we should not have given them an air conditioned, prision with 3 meals a day of food they will eat, Korans, prayer rugs and time to pray. Boy that is a mess. Maybe we should move them all to William Ayers house.

Do you liberals not know when you are being lied to? He can’t close it because he has no where to put them. You all think we are keeping them in a rundown shabby prison, like Saddam Hussien (no relation to BHO) ran prisions.

Then he said, “Unfortunately, faced with an uncertain threat, our government made a series of hasty decisions,” Obama said. “I believe that many of those decisions were motivated by a sincere desire to protect the American people. But I believe that – too often – our government made decisions based upon fear rather than foresight, and all too often our government trimmed facts and evidence to fit ideological predispositions.”

Told you he would apologize. I guess he thinks that by doing so, that our enemy will like us, really like us. Is that not the goal of liberal is to be liked. Really, really liked.

Then he blamed you and me.
While Obama laid considerable blame on the Bush administration, he said most Americans shared responsibility for the excesses by not speaking out more vocally in the wake of the 9/11 attack.
“During this season of fear, too many of us – Democrats and Republicans; politicians, journalists and citizens – fell silent. In other words, we went off course,” he said.

Yeah it was silly of us to want to protect our country, our way of life and our sense of right and wrong.

Mac do you need some more Obama-Kool-Aid?

  • George says:

I have to go on. The last part of my previous post, Obama said, ‘most Americans shared responsibility for the excesses by not speaking out more vocally in the wake of the 9/11 attack.”

You know I remember 9/11 very well and at no time do I remember hearing BHO speak up about it. He is a liar and is followed by people that just believe anything he says. To heck with the truth. I am steaming after reading and hearing his remarks. All he can do is blame and apologize.

How dare you Mr. President blame me for Gitmo. I am proud of my country and have been most of my life. And very proud of the troops that are at Gitmo doing a job that they would rather not have to do. It is a shame they have to serve under someone like you. Why can’t you and the other liberals put the blame on the terrorist and not on the American people? You find it acceptable to insult Americans.

This is a sad time in our country. I hope and pray you are put out of office in 2012.

  • Jane says:

So Kate what is your point? Barack has pointed out the atrocities of the Bush administration. Facts we know. Why shouldn’t he? He has also given us great great confidence that he will turn things around for all of us. You obviously can’t accept it no matter what he says. You have a anger management issue if you are so angry with our president. Also, he has had a plan. You say he didn’t of course he did! Please don’t lie on this blog.

George you sound like an insane person. Barack doesn’t read THIS blog I am sure.

  • Jared says:

What a little instigator you are Katey.

  • Jared says:

What I find facinating (other then the kind of dope Lisa B. obviously smokes) is the re-emergence of Darth Vader. Damn the man can’t shut up! He was finally let out of the bunker and the guy is now stir crazy. I hear some are suggesting he campaign for 2010 candidates. I say he should. HAAAAAHAAAAA. Talk about and easy run of the board!

George so do you often have breakdowns on blogs? Barack Obama gave a terrific speech and hit every point with perfection. Something must be done with Gitmo. It is the second stain on our country. Now about that breakdown, I mean they make therapists for that and drugs. Think about it.

  • Micky says:

“So Kate what is your point? Barack has pointed out the atrocities of the Bush administration. ”

Which still to this day is only a matter of opinion.

    “Facts we know” ?

    Please, enlighten us.

  • George says:

I am not having a breakdown. It is okay for the President to blame Gitmo on you and me. He is bag of wind. He talks but there is no action behind any of his words. It is people like you Jared and Jane that hear what you want from him. His plan for Gitmo is the Bush Plan.

Jane I would never have known the Barry in Charge does not read this blog. Thank you so much for telling me.

Funny how you okay with Algore running his scam on globle warming but you are not okay with Cheney definding the last 8 years.

I can see that you are very tolerant of free speech if it fits your idea of free speech. I bet you one million dollars that when Obama was brief on national security he crapped his pants. There are things that neither you nor I know about this war. And I know there were things he didn’t know and now he is back tracking.

What stain is on our country?

  • PenniePan says:

I, for one, and quite thrilled with Cheney and all his very public chatter as well but I imagine it’s for very different reasons.

Ken the cop — don’t the Feds like to let you string yourself along, talking and blabbing like Darth is doing, for a while before they actually arrest you? That way they can charge you with, like 6,382 counts of….something….

I say, let Darth Vader keep talking!! Let the documents keep coming out. And let him keep coming out to defend more and more information. Because really we are all ears. HAHAHAHHAHAHA!

  • Ferg says:

After Dick the dick Cheney speech today, I had an idea that we should rename the national Republican Party the Legion of Doom? Can I get a witness?

  • Micky says:

“Obama gave a terrific speech and hit every point with perfection. Something must be done with Gitmo.”

If I’m correct, Pennie and other moonbats said yesterday that Obama would have a solution as to what to do with Gitmo and its residents.
He hit on everything but that this morning.
He hit every point with perfection only because hes been rehearsing those points for over two years now. Bla bla bla more of the same crap.
If anyone said the same crap as much as he does they’d better have it down perfect.

Nothing needs to be done with Gitmo. ITo close it would serve nothing but ornamental purpose for those on the left who somehow equate Gitmo with Abu Graib where what happened was only the result od a few twisted individuals and not representative of what the majority of our intelligence officers do.
Its state of the art, the inmates get better treatment than they would at any supermax in the states, they are actually safer there than anywhere else.

Please, tell me, what are the benefits to closing Gitmo beside getting a notch in your BDS stock ? How will it change the type of trials or justice that needs to be served ? How will it make us safer ?

  • Ferg says:

Oh wait! I’m brilliant! RushNewtCheney = RNC AAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAH

    Asswipe Losers.

  • Pat says:

Other then you Kate, America has moved past Cheney. I don’t care how many speeches he gives or how many TV appearances he makes. People just don’t like him, they’re tired of him and they wish he’d just go away. Just like his former subordinate, W, has.

Micky you don’t get much do you? It isn’t that Gitmo wasn’t able to keep the detainees locked up, it is what it represents (the torture, the languishing) and the negative blight on the country it has had to the world…that is the reason to close the place.

  • George says:

    Micky,
Now you know that to be a liberal you only have to say you care and talk and talk. You don’t have to actually anything. But if you do something, make sure you spend trillions to get it done.

The Legion of Doom would be the DNC. They have taken over banks, car companies and lord only knows what else before we get them out of office.
There is never a speech given by Dems that is not doom and gloom about how our country sucks and how we must fix everything so that no one is without.

If you guys think that we are not at risk for an attack, then I guess you believe in Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. There are bad people in this world that want to kill us. They don’t ask which party you are in. They hate America and Americans.

  • George says:

Pat, there was never any torture at Gitmo. If you would have you head pulled out of Obama butt, you would know that. It is a modern prison with air-conditioning, 3 meals, prayer time, koran, games, and just about anything else they needed. You can believe that we are savage but it is not true. You are insulting every brave man and women in the military. But like all liberals, you hate them and you hate truth and freedom.

  • Micky says:

” it is what it represents (the torture, the languishing) and the negative blight on the country it has had to the world…that is the reason to close the place”

No Pat, its you who gets nothing, nothing.

if Obama has put a stop to these so called atrocities then what purpose does it serve to close Gitmo ?
Besides that, whatever was done there at the time was legal and has not been proven otherwise.
So, reflecting on what Cheney said this morning I’ll say that your disgust is all BS over nothing. Its just a fricken building, no matter what you think happened there.

Thats right, the counry is a broke as its ever been but lets trash a 200 million dollar facilty and spend 80 million to do it just so liberals can feel better about themselves ?

Please, I’m not the one whos “not getting much”. Dont flatter yourself, you’re not that hard to “get”

  • Micky says:

Anyway, aside from all the other crap the moonbats would love to spew.

WHAT WAS THE PLAN TO CLOSE GITMO ?

  • George says:

Oh yeah. What is the plan? Please tell us! We missed that part of the speech. I have read and re-read and can’t find that in the speech.

What’s that?………his plan is to do the same thing Bush did.
Wow, did he come up with that all by his self or did someone help?

  • Pat says:

The plan is to move those they can into federal prisons, others to other countries if they can find someone to take them, and the most dangerous to do tribunals. Wake up.

  • Ken says:

“bush is a criminal that’s the difference butthead.”

There you have it folks!! When Bush does it, its criminal, when Obama does it, its ok. Thanks again for proving the left’s complete inability to have any kind of rational or intelligent argument.

“Barack has pointed out the atrocities of the Bush administration.”

Gosh, I must have missed that part, can you repeat the ATROCITIES that were committed by Bush, with documentation, please? Thanks.

    “Facts we know.”

Well if we already know them, why does he need to point them out? It’s because he cannot string two sentences together about his policies without trying to distract people by drudging up Bush.

“You obviously can’t accept it no matter what he says.”

Finally, something we agree on it. Perhaps it would help if the man would tell us the truth instead of yammering away like a used car salesman, I mean could that speech contain any more cliches?

“You have a anger management issue if you are so angry with our president.”

It’s called disagreeing. Only on the “tolerant” left is disagreement synonymous with anger. Grow up.

“Also, he has had a plan. You say he didn’t of course he did! Please don’t lie on this blog.”

No, Jane, he hasn’t. That is the reason why the DEMOCRATS yanked th funding to close Gitmo, they said so therselves. Please get the facts, people, this topic is much too important for you to rely on Jon Stewart or Bill Maher. Dear God.

“Damn the man can’t shut up!”

Yes, its called freedom of speech, you know, the Constitution? Perhaps you’ve heard of it. It guarantees everyone the right to speak their mind. I absolutely love what Cheney is doing. Moron Obama is so rattled by him that he referred to Defense Secretary “William” Gates. Love it!!

If Obama would focus more on his job, and less on trying to distract the American people from his disastrous policies Cheney wouldn’t have to come out swinging.

“Barack Obama gave a terrific speech and hit every point with perfection.”

Wow, what color is the sky in your world? Cheney’s speech contained facts, Obama’s contained rhetoric and cliches.

“Ken the cop — don’t the Feds like to let you string yourself along, talking and blabbing like Darth is doing, for a while before they actually arrest you?”

Keep living in your fantasy world, Pennie, if it helps you. They will not arrest Cheney, nor Bush. The only thing investigations would conclude is how many democrats knew about waterboarding long ago, which is why you won’t see them.

“After Dick the dick Cheney speech today”

Gosh, all you people seem to have an obsession with dick……and Cheney too.

“Other then you Kate, America has moved past Cheney.”

If that were really true, then all the media and Obama wouldn’t be trying to tear him down every chance they get. Nice try, though.

“It isn’t that Gitmo wasn’t able to keep the detainees locked up, it is what it represents (the torture, the languishing) and the negative blight on the country it has had to the world…that is the reason to close the place.”

Wrong. For years we heard the left screaming about “keeping people detained without a trial!!”. Now that it’s Obama at the helm, even he admits that there are people they won’t be able to try and they won’t be able to let go, yet somehow NOW, it’s ok. Find a verified account of torture at Gitmo please, I’d love to read it. “Negative blight”? So we should move terroirsts to our own home soil instead of keeping them in Cuba for a reputation. You people really have absolutely no sense of reality at all. You live in a world, as Ted says, of “unicorns and lollipops” and are completely oblivious to how things work in the real world.

  • Micky says:

“The plan is to move those they can into federal prisons, others to other countries if they can find someone to take them, and the most dangerous to do tribunals. Wake up.”

Ha ! And you tell me I dont get much and say to wake up ?
Where the hell have you been ?
No other country wants them and Americans dont want them on our soil, this has been the problem all along for both administrations.
Convciting them via tribunals does not help to close the facility and even after being convicted in tribunals we still have no place to house them

    Try again.

  • Ken says:

Again, you make it too easy:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090520/ap_on_go_co/us_congress_guantanamo

“Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, chairman of the Appropriations Committee, favors closing Guantanamo, and the legislation his panel originally sent to the floor provided money for that purpose once the administration submitted a plan for the shutdown.

In changing course and seeking to delete the funds, he said, “The fact that the administration has not offered a workable plan at this point made that decision rather easy.”

Get that guys? He DIDN’T have a plan. Today he came out with his plan, if you can call it that, but the dems wouldn’t give him the money because he didn’t have a plan. Unless of course, the democrat quoted is really part of the vast right wing conspiracy?!?!?!?!?! That must be it!!!!!

  • Ken says:

Wrong Pat. Perhaps you missed this sentence of Obama’s speech:

“Finally, there remains the question of detainees at Guantanamo who cannot be prosecuted yet who pose a clear danger to the American people.”

So he just said they can’t be prosecuted and they pose a clear danger to the Americna people. He never said he what he was going to do with these people.

So, Pat, tell us. What is Obama going to do with that last group?

  • lisab says:

“So, Pat, tell us. What is Obama going to do with that last group?”

    ahhhh ken,

you obviously never studied the theory of quantum democrats

which is similar to quantum physics, where a particle can hold multiple positions at the same time …

  • Ken says:

“which is similar to quantum physics, where a particle can hold multiple positions at the same time …”

    LOL! I like that!

  • Ken says:

    The support begins to crumble………..

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/05/21/democratic-rep-hastings-proposes-creating-gitmo/

“Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) said Thursday that he is open to keeping a more transparent Guantanamo facility, complete with more aggressive third party monitors, open beyond the White House January 2010 closure deadline to hold the most dangerous inmates.”

Apparently this democras doesn’t see Gitmo as the “negative blight” that so many of our resident self-proclaimed experts do.

  • Ted says:

More blovating from Dear Leader. His whole existance is one giant campaign. At some point in his life, he needs to quit blaming others and become an adult. His cult followers never will grow up, but he can’t be afforded that luxury.

Good for Cheney for speaking the truth. I’ve noted on the lib pol sites today their members want to kill him. Two threads on DU and one on DKos of which I’m aware have been removed for death threats directed at the former VP. But that’s liberals for you. The idea that someone is actaully disagreeing with Dear Leader is something they believe should be illegal.

The Senate voted yesterday 90-6 to keep the prison at Gitmo open for the foreseeable future and forbid the transfer of any detainees to facilities in the United States. Darn those Republican obstructionist!! They tricked those Democrats again!! Just like they did in 2003 with the Iraq War when they gulled them into thinking that “to authorize the use of United States armed forces against Iraq” meant, “We’ll resolve this with Saddam over tea, and if that doesn’t work, we’ll resolve it over more tea.”

But let’s not lose sight of who the real victims are: innocent terrorists who have never done anything worse than participate in mass murder.

  • lisab says:

    Ken,

there is also the paradox of Schrödinger’s democrat.

imagine a democrat is in a sealed box on November 7th, 2000. the democrat does not know who is the winner of the 2000 Presidential election.

the democrat will simultaneously support the statements,

“If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.” President Clinton

    and

“Even though I approved of Afghanistan and opposed Iraq from the beginning,” said Clinton, “I still resent that I was not asked or given the opportunity to support those soldiers.” President Clinton

until the box is opened and the winner is declared.

this paradox is the reason why kerry supported the war before he was againt it … it is the paradox of Schrödinger’s democrat.

  • Charlotte says:

Well now. F*ck You, F*ck little dick Cheney and his daughter Liz, too. I’m sick of hearing him whispering in America’s ear. He is evil, and I don’t toss that word around in seriousness very often.

He knows that he’s not long for this world so he doesn’t care what mess he leaves behind him. He’s like my late 18yr old dog who peed on everything, only she was innocent and meant no harm. He’s peeing on the Country and likes it.

And if I hear about how we have had no attacks since 9/11 because of the work of Cheney and Chimpy one more time, I’ll puke. So all y’all just STFU k?

  • kate says:

well all you moonbats can say what you want about vice president cheney but apparently he’s doing some things right! this is from cnn. so stick this in your bong and smoke it.

“The same day Dick Cheney delivered a major speech on the battle against terrorism, a new national poll suggests that favorable opinions of the former vice president are on the rise.

But the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey, released Wednesday morning, indicates that a majority of Americans still have an unfavorable opinion of Cheney.

Fifty-five percent of people questioned in the poll say they have an unfavorable opinion of the former vice president. Thirty-seven percent say they have a favorable opinion of Cheney, up eight points from January when he left office. “
    http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/05/21/cnn-poll-favorable-opinion-of-dick-cheney-on-the-rise/

  • Paul says:

WHY IS DICK CHENEY GETTING A PLATFORM AT ALL?

Besides this bogus poll that Kate and others are clinging to like a life raft, does it strike anyone else as odd that CNN would show Cheney’s speech IN ITS ENTIRETY… giving it the same weight as the one delivered by the sitting President?

Why is HE your counterpoint to Barack Obama? You have NO ONE ELSE.

He’s the ex-VICE President! The fact that Dubya is keeping his head down and this guy is all over the place speaks volumes about who was REALLY the President for the last 8 years. Clearly, he feels it’s his legacy and NOT Dubya’s that’s in jeopardy.

  • Micky says:

Well gosh Charlotte, f*ck you too ! 🙂

“Why is HE your counterpoint to Barack Obama? You have NO ONE ELSE.”

Who needs anyone else ? You’re all destroying your own party from the inside out
We dont need anyone else as long as he keeps deciding to use Bushs policies and the congress keeps telling him to get screwed. And by the way. he is not the counter to Obama, he booked this speech weeks before Obamas knee jerk decision yesterday to give a repeat performance of the last 100 speechs.
The point is that none of you including the king moonbat can tell us what your going to do about Gitmo.
So really, all you’re left with is all these half a$$ personal attacks and posts that are completely void of any substance or relativity.
You’re all falling apart like the Borg when they shut down because the only voice in the collective offers no direction or solution.
Like the Stepford wives when the mainframe shuts down.

  • Micky says:

“He’s the ex-VICE President! The fact that Dubya is keeping his head down and this guy is all over the place speaks volumes about who was REALLY the President for the last 8 years. Clearly, he feels it’s his legacy and NOT Dubya’s that’s in jeopardy.”

He doesnt have to worry about his “legacy”. Please, wtf was that all about ?
Cheney has been in politics since Obama was 8 years old, head of national security in one administration already and vice president for 8 years during Americas worst attack ever. That my friend is legacy that Obama will never be able to touch
As he said in his speech, hes not up for re-election nor does he need to worry about his approval ratings. Anyone who knows anything about Cheney knows that kinda crap is the last think he worries about.

  • Micky says:

    Charlotte:

“And if I hear about how we have had no attacks since 9/11 because of the work of Cheney and Chimpy one more time, I’ll puke.”

    (getcher barf bag out)

SINCE 911 BECAUSE OF BUSH AND CHENEY WE HAVENT SUFFERED ONE ATTACK ON AMERICAN SOIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ken says:

“Well now. F*ck You, F*ck little dick Cheney and his daughter Liz, too.”

Exactly the kind of well thought out, mature arguments that we expect from the left. How typical.

“And if I hear about how we have had no attacks since 9/11 because of the work of Cheney and Chimpy one more time, I’ll puke.”

Hey, Charlotte, did you know that we haven’t had any attacks since 9/11 because of the work of Cheney and Bush? Enjoy your vomiting, which would probably be the most intelligent thing that ever came out of your mouth.

“So all y’all just STFU k?”

    Not gonna happen.

“Clearly, he feels it’s his legacy and NOT Dubya’s that’s in jeopardy.”

Has nothing to do with that. It has to do with Obama using his excuse of “It’s Bush’s fault!!” for everything he screws up, and plans to screw up. HE went after Bush, not vice versa. Again, if Obama would stick to his job, instead of trashing the previous administration, Cheney wouldn’t feel the need to come out and say such things.

Obama really needs to grow up.
