Nancy Pelosi got up to pontificate on DACA coming to an end. Then she made a completely inaccurate and insulting comparison.

SAY WHAT???

Oh, my word. How do you pack that much stupid into a two-minute speech?

First things first. DREAM (which is separate from DACA, though the two things get conflated frequently) stands for “Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors.” As in, NOT AMERICAN CITIZENS. The majority of the Japanese who were interned during World War II WERE American citizens.

Nancy, you’re stupid.

Second – this is the president who signed Executive Order 9066, which allowed the internment of thousands of people, of which a majority were American citizens.

Yes, a Democrat. The same party which Nancy Pelosi belongs to. That’s the thing about Executive Orders – they are solely the responsibility of the president who signs them. In this case, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Democrat. And let’s remember that DACA is completely the responsibility of President Barack Obama, Democrat, because the DREAM Act (actual legislation that could be passed by Congress) wasn’t getting passed.

Nancy, you’re stupid.

Finally, Pelosi makes reference to the Japanese-Americans who served with great honor and distinction during World War II in the 100th Infantry Battalion and the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, and then compares the “Dreamers'” “patriotism” to ACTUAL SOLDIERS serving during World War II.

As some of my extended family actually served in the 442nd, I find this comparison beyond insulting. If a “Dreamer” wishes to enlist in the United States military and qualifies for service, I welcome that. But just being raised in the United States is not the same kind of gut-busting bravery and nerves of steel that those who volunteered to serve from “behind barbed wire” had.

Nancy, you’re stupid.

You want to actually help these “Dreamers,” Nancy Pelosi? Then maybe work on getting some legislation passed instead of just standing around complaining about it.
