Old and Busted: FAA Halts All U.S. Flights To Israel—New and Hot: Hamas Hails Decision As A “Great Victory”

UPDATE  II:  Senator Ted Cruz responds

UPDATE:  Ban extended another 24 hours.

So yesterday, the State Department issues a warning to not travel to Israel because of the rocket strike that nearly hit Ben Gurion Airport.  Seems that the White House now has a whole mess of “Who.. Me?” going on regarding their coordination on this with the FAA and the State Department.

The State Department denied today that yesterday’s travel warning coupled with today’s FAA decision to keep planes away from Israel is an administration strategy to put economic pressure on the Jewish state.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a notice at lunchtime today “informing U.S. airlines that they are prohibited from flying to or from Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport for a period of up to 24 hours.

“The notice was issued in response to a rocket strike which landed approximately one mile from Ben Gurion International Airport on the morning of July 22, 2014,” the FAA said in a statement. “The [Notice to Airmen] NOTAM applies only to U.S. operators, and has no authority over foreign airlines operating to or from the airport.”

“The FAA immediately notified U.S. carriers when the agency learned of the rocket strike and informed them that the agency was finalizing a NOTAM. The FAA will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation.  Updated instructions will be provided to U.S. airlines as soon as conditions permit, but no later than  24 hours from the time the NOTAM went into force.”

The notice was issued soon after Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in the region to attempt to broker a ceasefire agreement. He announced a $47 million humanitarian aid package to the Palestinians soon after touching down in Cairo on Monday.

Nice touch.  Like having the paratroopers in the air while negotiating whether or not they land at the airport or seize it by force after staging a combat jump.  Secretary Kerry–Foreign Affairs tip:  You know you are f’ing it up when Hamas says “Thanks you did a great job.”

Hamas said Wednesday that the suspension of international flights to and from Israel over security concerns about Gaza rocket fire was a “great victory.”

“The success of Hamas in closing Israeli airspace is a great victory for the resistance, and is the crown of Israel’s failure,” Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in a statement.

But, taken for what it is, I think the idea that listening to Hamas talk about “great victory” makes me think they aren’t competent to judge that assessment of their situation; given that they are comparing Jews to Nazis.

Note to Hamas; if the Israelis wanted you and every human drawing breath in the Gaza Strip to be a bad memory of a time since passed, you would be.  Tonight….

I can tell from watching all of this that Mr. Secretary John Kerry has evidently only dealt with bad people for about 4 months before this, probably in Vietnam.  I think he may have mentioned it before.  And how come no one wanted to broker a cease fire when Hamas

The idea of not “taking sides” means that you shouldn’t be doing anything to help either side of a conflict. When you coordinate this with the FAA, which despite your denials, we know is what happened (damn, do you guys suck at lying or what?–ed).  Using this tactic to put pressure on Israel, who the thinking people of the world know is the aggrieved party in this conflict, shows your hand.  It shows how back-asswards we have become as a country and exactly what the results of emotion driven thinking.  It shows Israel exactly what they can count on from the US Government and the pussies in the puzzle palace navel gazing and fundraising while the rest of the world burns (literally).

Nero fiddled.  These guys fund raise.  Feeling good, isn’t nearly the same as acting good.

And about that 47 million dollar humanitarian aid package?  Anyone want to bet on the fact that about 68 cents of it will end up helping the Arabs living in Palestine?  How many of you think it will end up being moved right over to Iran (Hezbollah) to buy more rockets.  Rockets by the way, that Hamas can’t aim and just lets them fall wherever, including on their own people.

I have no doubt in my mind that Prime Minister Netanyahu will at some point receive a sainthood or a special seat in Heaven for not bulldozing and tearing asunder the entirety of the West Bank.  To put up with this Anti-Semitism combined with the holier than thou attitude has got to be giving him fits.

Here is to hoping the American Electorate comes to their senses (especially the Jewish portion that compulsively votes Democrat) and helps move the country in the right direction starting in November.  Be a nice change.

How’s that for Hope and Change?…
