Obama Administration to Put Government Personnel in Media Newsrooms

Thomas Jefferson once said that our liberty depends on freedom of the press.  Perhaps the Obama administration agrees, and that’s why the federal government is assigning government monitors to media newsrooms.

Last May the FCC proposed an initiative to thrust the federal government into newsrooms across the country. With its “Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs,” or CIN, the agency plans to send researchers to grill reporters, editors and station owners about how they decide which stories to run. A field test in Columbia, S.C., is scheduled to begin this spring.

The purpose of the CIN, according to the FCC, is to ferret out information from television and radio broadcasters about “the process by which stories are selected” and how often stations cover “critical information needs,” along with “perceived station bias” and “perceived responsiveness to underserved populations.”

The government has no place in the newsroom of a media outlet.  In fact, that is so incredibly important that I’m going to say it again. The government has no place in the newsroom of a media outlet.  In fact, the words “government” and “monitoring program” should never, ever be even spoken within proximity to the word “press” unless there is also the presence of a phrase like “over our collective dead bodies.”  But, as always, it gets worse.

In fact, the FCC is now expanding the bounds of regulatory powers to include newspapers, which it has absolutely no authority over, in its new government monitoring program.

The FCC has apparently already selected eight categories of “critical information” “that it believes local newscasters should cover.”

Allow me to break this down for you.  The federal government has deemed that certain categories of information are “critical” and that the news media should cover them.  As in, vee vill tell you vat to print, Comrade.  What could possibly go wrong?  “Excuse me, Fox News, we’re going to need you to stop covering Benghazi.  Instead, here’s a list of topics we believe you should be covering, including the latest golf round by King Obama and some fabricated success stories about Obamacare.  Also, please cover this story we made up heard about how citizens are giving up their evil guns by the thousands and people should join in.”

Now is when I’d make a statement about how ‘someone’ should really explain to His Wannabe American Highness that this is not how things work on this side of the pond, but here’s the thing.  He knows.  They all know.  It’s not like the Constitution is some hidden document that no one has ever heard of.  The Bill of Rights is not exactly written in hieroglyphics on a cave wall that no one’s discovered.  The Obama administration, whether you choose to accept it or not, is systematically destroying anything resembling freedom in this country.  Total surveillance, total control of the media, total control period.

So the real question is…what are we going to do about it?  Now, more than ever, the patriots will rely on independent journalists; blogs written by people on the ground in the trenches, people who refuse to be silenced.  I guarantee you that VG will be among them.  In the meantime, what are we doing to stop this?  Probably reading TMZ, or paying attention to celebrities, athletes and liberal mouthpieces—the least relevant, least useful, most ridiculous wastes of our time.

As long as we’re still sharing those memes on Facebook, though, we’re doing something.  Right?

Does anyone find it suspicious that for all these stories of government monitoring of phones, metadata collection, Google et. al. subpoenas (or not) and tracking….

…there has been not. one. peep. about monitoring the internet, and more specifically, right wing blogs? Do people realize how trivially easy is to monitor a site and alert the authorities when an “extremist” phrase is used? Do they understand that their Netflix data may be able to bridge the gap between an anonymous identity and a real world name and address?

I suspect the silence tells us more than words ever would.

You might be investigated by the Feds for burning something that gives off such “toxic” fumes! (grin)

I read that this had been beaten back. For now.

I can guarantee you that stories about Obama’s golfing, on water hogging courses in the middle of a drought when farmers cannot get water for crops, or private dinners with kings, or the FLOTUS’s public relations sojourns which involved closing major airports for her to stop off to do skiing or stays at 5-star hotels (and the entourage occupying a couple of floors), will not be on the list of approved news stories to cover.

I wonder how much of the liberal/left media will object to this. My sense is that if it is what Obama and the Democrats want they will be fine with it. Hell they have already sold America down the river by not holding Obama accountable in the way they did his predecessor.

By the time we have been hugged and stroked by Hollywood and lectured at by Kerry there will be a big slice of America that will just get in line and go along to get along. Don’t give up your guns boys this is going to be a rocky ride.

I would invite my alleged government masters to stop by and “monitor” what I write.

I promise, it will not go as they have planned it.

“The ability quickly to verify information spread on the Internet and track its provenance would enable governments, emergency services, health agencies, and the private sector to respond more effectively”

Sounds like a way to suppress free speech to me.

Weren’t there at least two (2) secret meetings with the media at the White House? Was there ever any indication what these were about? Also, I wonder who was on the invite list? Who was ecluded? Any connection with thwats now unfolding?

I’m so sick of Obama policies of control. He is in my opinion just like Hitler in many ways. Feel free to look at may page on facebook.com I’ve done a lot of work trying to detail how Obama is more everyday like Hitler was in creating laws to limit our very freedoms. Wake up America your losing your freedoms. We need to fight back in a big way to stop Obama before we lose all our rights to life liberty. I wish not to be a slave give me liberty or give me death ! It’s time to act up !
