#NYCStrong: NYC Stands Strong and Defiant
Saipov
Sayfullo Saipov, 29, has been identified by police as the suspected driver of the rented pickup truck who killed at least eight people in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday. (St. Charles County Department of Corrections)

Yesterday, NYC once again became the focus of the world when 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov used his rental truck to mow down a number of cyclists. He left in his wake eight dead and at least 11 injured. New York City’s finest, members of the NYPD, arrested him only after he crashed into a school bus and exited his vehicle. Was he trying to commit suicide-by-cop when he got out of the truck holding a fake gun in each hand? If so, he failed. After a short foot pursuit, he was shot and is currently under arrest at an NYC hospital. Once again, NYC is getting up to a new day, proving that it is not only resilient but defiant as raises its collective middle finger to every terrorist, every extremist and every person foolish enough to think it will roll over and give up. #NYCStrong.

Already, the left is spinning what happened and trying to turn the focus to islamophobia instead of looking at why Saipov decided to use his truck to kill as many as he could. As the article says, liberals often fail to comprehend the meaning of words, in this case, terrorism, “the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.” That means we need to look at Saipov and what he wanted to accomplish.

When he exited his vehicle, Saipov allegedly yelled, “Allahu akbar”. While that, in and of itself, isn’t enough to condemn him as a terrorist, let’s see what else we might find to confirm or disprove the allegation. He exited the vehicle holding what appeared to be two guns, making no attempt to hide them as he moved down the street. Okay, that’s enough to show he was, at the very least, trying to commit suicide-by-cop which is, most definitely, better than using a suicide vest in the middle of NYC.

But there’s more. It has been reported that law enforcement found two notes “handwritten in Arabic, pledging loyalty to ISIS in and near the truck, Fox News has confirmed.” The NY Post reported that “some type of symbol or picture of the terrorist organization’s flag was discovered.” If true, both should go a long way to making a connection with terrorism that even the liberals in Hollywood can’t deny. In the meantime, circumstantial evidence clearly points to it being a case of terrorism.

Gov. Cuomo stated, “There’s no evidence to suggest a wider plot or a wider scheme. . . These are the actions of one individual meant to cause pain and harm and probably death.” He may actually believe it. The rest of us look at what happened and have to wonder. We are seeing too many of these sorts of attacks, not just here in the U. S. but overseas as well. We hear ISIS and organizations like them crying for the deaths of the U.S. and its allies. Whether Saipov officially belongs to such a group or was influenced by them remains to be seen. However, the evidence so far does appear to point to one conclusion: he’d been radicalized and acted on it.

NY terror

But let’s not forget his victims in all this. Five of the dead had come to NYC from Argentina to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their graduation from high school. At least one other of the dead came from Belgium. This tragedy has impacted more than just NYC and the United States. But it is on us that this happened if, as President Trump has tweeted, Saipov came in under the Diversity Visa Program. Is it not time to tighten up our entry requirements? How many more have to be injured or killed before the politicians quit worrying about being politically correct and start looking at what they need to do to protect those they represent?

In the meantime, #NYCStrong. Stand strong. Stand firm. Do not bow down. They haven’t and will not win.

Diversity Via Program??? We are the most diverse nation in the world with NYC our diversity capital. Stop the suicidal madness.

I have to agree. Those in DC need to remember their first duty is to the citizens of this country, not to our enemies.

      • GWB says:

Good luck with that. They are all in love with a philosophy that mandates cultural suicide. There are two ways to fix that cultic obsession, and the first one (the civilized approach – votes, laws, a constitution) isn’t working. The second is to … hmmmm, how to phrase… “go barbarian” on the so-called ‘elites’ who think to rule us.

        • Amanda Green says:

Unfortunately, you’re right. My fear is that this is going to get a great deal worse before certain members of Congress get the boot and common sense legislators (if such a creature exists) replace them.

after he crashed into a school bus

There were reports the school bus crashed into him, in order to stop him. Any word on whether this is true, or was just wishful thinking yesterday?

“There’s no evidence to suggest a wider plot or a wider scheme. . . These are the actions of one individual meant to cause pain and harm and probably death.”

You know, this one is starting to piss me off. First, OF COURSE they’re the actions of one individual! No kidding! That is entirely irrelevant to whether they are terrorism or not!
Second, YES they are part of a “wider plot”, you d***less* weasel. It’s called the “global caliphate”. Or “fundamentalist islam”. Or “islamism”. It’s got a few names, but it’s all one big “plot” – a plot to get every single person, everywhere, to bow down to Allah or to die. Mostly, they want us to die. Hence that whole “cause pain and harm and probably death” bit.

    (* “Is this true?”
“Yes, it’s true. [pause] This man has no d***.”)

As to NYC “standing strong”? I’m going to be diplomatic here and simply say that “standing strong” in NYC entails something different than “standing strong” out here in flyover country. NYC’s version is why the rest of the country elected Trump.

    • GWB says:

I will actually concede the “not terrorism” thing, if you progs will make this concession: admit that adherents of a strict version of a certain religion are at war with us, based on the actual tenets of said religion.
Then, perhaps, I’ll let you get away with “this wasn’t terrorism”.

      • Amanda Green says:

You are nicer than I am. I won’t let them get away with it because it is still terrorism in the name of a “religion”. Yes, those taking such extreme actions are, well, extremists. That is what makes them, in my mind at least, terrorists.

    • Amanda Green says:

I haven’t seen any reports saying the bus crashed into him to stop him. That doesn’t mean much, though, as you know. It is going to take time before we learn solid facts about how the attack went down and its motivation, if we ever do. Considering how certain NY pols (not to mention DC ones) are already trying to spin it, I don’t hold out much hope.

I agree totally with your comments about it being the action of a single individual. Of course, I also remember how, not long after 9/11, the intelligence community was warning that we would start seeing more attacks against soft targets and more attacks by only one or two terrorists. This would certainly seem to fit that bill.

      • GWB says:

The only one I saw was yesterday (somewhat close to the time of the incident) where an eyewitness claimed that. I have no idea how credible that first report was, but I’m sure that any actual heroism will not get downplayed in this.

  • Stephen Ippolito says:

Imagine, just for argument’s sake, that this barbarian had exited his vehicle screaming “Deus Vult”.

These same public preeners who so reflexively mouth off that these actions and this man, like the long and ceaseless line of all those before him so far, have nothing at all to do with Islam and warning the lowly plebs not to tar all members of the religion of peace with the same brush would not be extending the same courtesy to Christians or Christianity.

Had a westerner emerged from that truck yelling deus vult society’s leaders would right now be proclaiming it time for a national conversation on the toxicity of christianity because: Pope Urban II and the crusades.

    • Wfjag says:

Perhaps the question should be: Is there a right to shout “ Allahu Akbar” in a crowded theatre?

      • GWB says:

In a shall-issue state, and as long as the theater isn’t a “gun-free” zone, he’s free to shout it all he wants. Well, as long as it doesn’t interrupt the movie.

  • EndOfPatience says:

“Already, the pro-terror left is spinning what happened …”

FIFY. Time to start calling them out in this.
