NSA Scooped Up Every Single Phone Call in a Foreign Country

WaPo is reporting that the NSA apparently has the technology to collect literally every single phone call in a foreign country, incoming or outgoing—and that they’ve done it.  Naturally, they won’t say which foreign country, but since it’s foreign they want you to just Keep Calm and Look the Other Way.  Because of course they would never use this against the American people, right?

Here’s the thing: Do you really believe that the NSA, who we already know bypassed the Constitution years ago, who is literally in every computer and tracking every move you make, is not using this technology on our own soil against American citizens?  Believe me when I tell you that they are.  In fact, if you really think they aren’t or are somehow not furiously angry, then you might as well just move to China because you’re obviously okay with the government having a steel grip on you and your life.

Obama promised to “fundamentally transform” our nation, and he has.  I hope you’re ready for what’s coming.

Of course the NSA records every minute detail of our lives they can. The only reason we haven’t heard about their online activities is that they’re impossible to detect. Does anyone realize how trivially easy it is for *anyone* to download any blog and all comments – and then update it incrementally several times daily? Pair that with the NSA/DHS relationship with ISPs and ‘Xavier’ becomes a full name and street address. A bot could (“could”, hell who am I kidding), identify itself as Google, crawl over any website, look for trigger words, take a screen shot, and notify a human operator to take a closer look at the site. If this isn’t happening, I’ll eat my new Boonie hat.

Of course they’re doing it. There’s no way for them to get caught, and there’s no one to stop them anyway.

Good news for email users – StartMail, a new email service from the Startpage search engine, started their beta tests today. You’re probably aware we lost several encrypted email services in the wake of the NSA revelations, and Startpage isn’t beholden to U.S. laws, legal or illegal, so this could be a good solution for those who need email security. A questionnaire they sent out had pricing suggestions and my guess – though only a guess – is that it’ll be around $10/month. I’ll let you know how the beta tests go once my account is set up.

NSA/Snowden/Bull Run. I’m not a Snowden sympathizer and the Cheney bashing confirms him as a rabid progressive, but he has some valid points. Normally I avoid hidden URLs but this one was too long to post.
