like a thief in the night, the senate votes on healthcare

like a thief in the night – under the cover of darkness – the senate voted for cloture, sending their feckless HCR bill to conference. the vote as you can imagine was 60-40.

The 60-40 tally, taken shortly after 1 a.m., followed 12 hours of acrimonious debate and required senators to trek to the Capitol in the aftermath of a snowstorm. The vote was the first of three procedural hurdles that Democrats must cross before a final vote on passage of the measure, now scheduled for Christmas Eve.

why do this at 1 am? to avoid the outcries, the media, the shame of cramming this down the american peoples’ throat? this bill is bad from every point of view. front loaded with taxes beginning next year, and back loaded with goodies to help protect the re-election of democrats.

ben nelson, only the latest prostitute exposed on capital hill should be ashamed. so remember this date: november, 2010. if we don’t make a statement then, we never will.

    Yes, the entire program reeks of IN-equality and $$ IR-responsibility.

    We pay for 4-6 years BEFORE it kicks in – that’s so they can CLAIM that it’s “paid for”. Sure, if I pay 10 years for something and only get 4-6 years of service you might be able to claim that it’s “paid for”. For example: Why don’t I just go out and spend $3000 a year for a car – start NOW for 5 years and THEN pick up the car in 2014?? …and then CONTINUE to pay for the car for ANOTHER four years, in addition? Why would I not do that? BECAUSE IT’S INSANE!

    These members of Congress are almost completely ignorant of the Constitution (which they SWORE AN OATH to uphold AND PROTECT!); are arrogant; are DEAF to the will of the people; and sneak and slink to get what THEY WANT – not what WE want. They are voting because of BRIBES being paid – WITH OUR MONEY!!! Hear me, Senator Nelson (D-Nebraska)?! Hear me, Senator Landreaiu (D-Louisiana)?!

    I could go on and on – I’m simply beside myself.

    What in the world kind of guy is Harry Reid that he would hold a vote at 1 a.m.?
    In, literally, the dead of night? He doesn’t care at all how this looks to America?

    It’s almost akin to transporting all of Congress to a deserted island and then having them vote.

    HE’s really throwing it in our faces, fellow countrymen. Where are the Republican leaders shoouting about how bad this is? Come on boys! Call them out! Loud and proud!

  • Rope says:

    Wouldn’t it be cool if we could take them all to a deserted island and vote them off one by one. Survivor with a twist. They could all bring one luxury item. The one could bring his teleprompter. Pelosi (ick what a dirty word) could bring her botox and so on.

    Kathy, they have to vote in the middle of the night because all day long they are behind closed doors making deals for votes. It’s a sad day, the damage being done to our economy, our dollar becoming weaker, and our country being put further and further in debt. 2010 can’t come quick enough for me.

  • I loved this part the best:

    …required senators to trek to the Capitol in the aftermath of a snowstorm.

    Where I live that’s called working and living up to your responsibilities.

  • David says:

    That’s right, Kris!

  • David says:

    By the way, I believe that one of the few “legitimate reasons” the vote is being held at 1 AM in the morning is because the LEFT (Dems) want to shove this s**t down our throats by Christmas Day.

    Since there’s a 30-hour or so minimum time frame after each vote before another vote can take place, they are compacting as much tyranny as they can into this short week – therefore the middle of the night 1 AM vote. …the deaf, blind and conniving bast*rds!

    ” because the LEFT (Dems) want to shove this s**t down our throats by Christmas Day.”

    Who wants to wager how many times were going to be told “its a Christmas present to the American people”?

    I think Pelosis already got one or two statements under her belt already.

    it is not like the taxes collected now will go into

    “the health care lock box”

    it will not be paid — they will spend the money now

    ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas on Capitol Hill

    A Christmas Wish

    ‘Twas the night before Christmas, when up on The Hill
    The Senate was meeting, to sneak through The Bill;

    Because most Americans, oppose this healthcare
    Pelosi’s early vote, had the House in despair;

    Harry Reid, however, was still holding court
    Spending our money to buy his support;

    Congress believes, (though we make a fuss),
    In controlling the deficit, by taxes on us;

    Or, they can handle it …another way
    Rack up the debt and our children will pay;

    Real healthcare reform? …No, a big tool
    To control our lives and let bureaucrats rule;

    Popular opinion? …A mere media poll
    Congress ignores us, lobbyists control;

    A Historic Moment? …Just a big fake
    The Will of the People? …Let them eat cake;

    Most voters were nestled all snug in their beds,
    While visions of pork barrels danced in their heads;

    With news on the radio, and I on my PC,
    I ‘d just settled in, to write this to thee;

    When all of a sudden there arose such a clatter,
    I paid close attention to see what’s the matter;

    Away to the doorway, I flew like a flash
    And off to the Capitol, I went with a dash;

    The moon on the length of the National Mall
    Shone brightly on protesters …to the Senate’s appall;

    Then what to my wondering eyes should appear,
    But a colorful bus, resounding with cheer;

    With thousands of people, probably much more,
    I knew that it must be …a Tea Party tour.

    Jingling with bells, these protesters they came,
    As they whistled and shouted and called out by name:

    Now Reid, now Dodd, now Baucus, and Durbin
    On Schumer, on Boxer, on Feinstein, and Franken!

    “You work for us!” and we have the clout
    Hear us tonight, or we’ll vote you all out;

    As dry leaves before the wild hurricane tumble,
    When they meet with an obstacle, simply then crumble;

    So into their limos, the senators, they fled
    Killing the bill …bad reform was now dead;

    And then in a twinkling, I heard from the crowd
    The roar of a cheer …’twas really quite loud;

    With more ringing of bells, songs, and much fun,
    It soon became clear that their work was now done;

    But I heard them exclaim, as they drove out of sight,
    “Merry Christmas to All and To All a Good Night!”

    “Who wants to wager how many times were going to be told “its a Christmas present to the American people”?”

    Absolutely, Micky. The dems must get the focus off of Jesus Christ and onto themselves.

    What a wretched pile of lying, ignorant trash the dems are.

  • Mark Bugyi says:

    In reality, this Healthcare package goes far beyond a quaint Christmas present to the American people. This bill will give the Socialcrats the ability to play God. Take out the abortion and the death panels and you may have some semblance to healthcare albeit a system of rationed healthcare. Leave in the abortion and death panels and the politicians will lord over us as this bill goes beyond the concept of cradle to grave healthcare. Many would be Americans will never see the cradle.
    Mothers such as Sarah Palin will not have a choice regarding a special needs baby.
    This bill is simply nothing more than control over all of us

  • micky says:

    Merry Christmas everyone.
    And I wish you all health and happines in the next year, or even a few more after that. 🙂

  • Amazed says:

    Since Sarah’s a Christian, why’s she tweeting about celebrating the pagan holiday of the Winter Solstice? “AKs Winter Solstice=today begins season of lighter/brightr days.”
