John Kerry: If You Don’t Report on Terrorist Attacks, They’ll Go Away

We’ve gone from having a compulsive liar as Secretary of State to having a rocket scientist, apparently.

John Kerry’s latest strategy to rid the world of terror? Tell journalists to stop reporting the attacks. You know, stop paying attention to them. Kerry spoke in Bangladesh Tuesday morning, urging the government to step up efforts to fight extremist violence. Secretary of State John Kerry suggested members of the media stop covering (Islamic) terrorism so people won’t “know what’s going on.”

“If you decide one day you’re going to be a terrorist and you’re willing to kill yourself, you can go out and kill some people. You can make some noise…perhaps the media would do us all a service if they didn’t cover it quite as much. People wouldn’t know what’s going on.-John Kerry

And like the knight in shining armor that he is, Josh Earnest defended Kerry’s statement:

“The president still talks about [terrorism] a lot and we talk about the significant resources that are invested in protecting the American people, both at home and around the world. I think the president wants to make clear that it’s also important for people to have some perspective.”-Josh Earnest

Perspective. As in this perspective:

This is the perspective the collective wants us to have. Have some perspective when you see news reports of Americans being beheaded by extremists. Some man just went into a night club and shot up a bunch of innocent people? Calm the heck down!! Those pesky terrorists? They’re just doing their little jihad thing-attention whores that they are, crashing Christmas parties and killing innocent people. And by all means, with an anniversary of 9/11 coming up in a matter of days, we can’t let a bunch of radicals affect our perspective and the perspective of journalists who have supposedly been educated to be unbiased and not cloud the judgement of their readers and viewers. Those caliphate-loving crazies throwing gay men off of buildings and selling young girls into the sex trade? They’re just the “JV team”!

Barack Obama believes that we need to fight this war with “brains”-with philosophical BS about ISIS and the possibility of their organization being an “existential threat” to our very existence here in the United States. He claims to understand the families of fallen military service members. He claims things are under control but yet terrorists are still knocking on our back door. How do you get rid of an “existential threat”? You acknowledge it for starters. You inform people. And then you eradicate the problem-take them out! Philosophical enough?

Now John Kerry wants journalists to downplay the impact of terrorism by telling them to simply lay off of it. This is the same man who goes to Hollywood to counter the #DaeshNarrative. The strategy of this administration? Ignore them and they’ll go away! I personally think the underlying strategy is to control the narrative to prevent the people from seeing how useless and ambivalent to the situation they truly are but that’s just my perspective.

To be fair, F—-k was invited to the party.

How do you get rid of an “existential threat”?

Well, you … get rid of it. You return the existential threat.

Arguably, Horseface is riffing off the same thing that many conservatives say: you try to not give the wackjobs the satisfaction of immortality in the press. The problem is you also can’t simply pretend it isn’t there.
I would love to see the press do less sensationalism where this crap is concerned. But it has to report it so we know what’s going on in the world.

His statement might not be so egregious if the press were actually reporting on terrorism as it connects to the failure of the administration’s foreign and security policies.
