Barack Obama overwhelmingly won the youth vote in 2008, and again in his 2012 re-election. But Hillary Clinton is not Barack Obama, at least in the “hip and cool” department. Today, in the first stop of her so-called “listening tour,” Hillary’s Scooby Van travels to a college in Iowa, but the reception—many classes have been cancelled to accommodate Clinton and her entourage, to the chagrin of some of the students—may not be as warm as she hopes. Here’s a short list of comments and concerns from students at Kirkwood Community College, a satellite campus in Monticello, some of which they hope to lob at Queen Hillary when she arrives there today:

Corey Jones: “It’s – well, immigration reform,” he told Daily Mail Online. “You know, Obama’s plan was to make the illegal immigrants legal. She’s part of all that. And some people think – well, I think maybe – it’s just a tactic to have more Democratic votes.”

Hallie Corum: “She’s going to push some emotional thing on us. What else is she supposed to do?”

Unidentified Student: “Can you imagine if she stepped off a private jet in Des Moines or Iowa City and walked down a set of steps in really expensive shoes and a thousand-dollar outfit? That would be, um, a really bad idea. I like the van better. Is it a minivan? God, I hope it’s not a minivan.”

Unidentified Student: “She’s going to be, like, talking ‘s**t.’”

Unidentified Student: “You know, it’s that ‘If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all’ deal.”

Bri Parks: “If I heard her opinions and liked her ideas, I would support her. But I hope people don’t vote for her just because she’s a woman. I don’t think we should be putting people in extremely high political positions because of race, sex, or whatever.

Ross Vander Peut (self-described Libertarian): “[Clinton] seems like, kinda like a control freak. I like government to leave me alone, and gay marriage is ‘a deal-breaker.’ Equal rights, homosexual rights, it’s one thing I will not sway on. If you are against gay marriage, you’ve lost my vote. There’s nothing you can do to change it.”

Meanwhile, a group of young men reportedly strolled down a hallway lampooning Bill Clinton’s infamous line, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman,” laughing hysterically.

Ruh-roh, Raggy. Not exactly ringing endorsements. To quote Marco Rubio from his announcement Monday afternoon, taking a not-so-veiled jab at Hillary, and possibly even his Floridian rival, Jeb Bush:

Love him or hate him, Rubio couldn’t be more correct. Granted, only a handful of Kirkwood’s students were willing to speak critically of Hillary Clinton, while others refused to comment. But if this turns out to be a microcosm of the youth vote at large, Hillary Clinton and her Mystery Machine have themselves a problem.

UPDATE [11:00 am Pacific] If you can stomach it, you can watch the community college event live here beginning at 11:15 Pacific. Bring Scooby Snacks.

UPDATE [1:00 pm Pacific] Not one student mentioned above was able to ask Clinton a question. Only the six sitting at the table with her were able to engage with Hillary. And not one difficult question. How convenient.

  • Hillary is a walking joke and a traitor, but so is Rubio. He was elected as a conservative and then immediately got to work pushing amnesty. If you can’t trust the guy as a senator, why would you trust him with more power still? Plus, Rubio is not even eligible to be president.

    • Kate says:

Marco Rubio was born in Miami, Florida. He’s most certainly eligible to run for POTUS.

      • Jodi says:

As Kate said, he is indeed eligible.

You somehow garnered a Rubio endorsement from me from what was simply a quote from his speech, which was spot on. He nailed Clinton to the wall “yesterday” (pun intended), and it was brilliant. That’s all. 😉
