The GOP leadership can do some things right, that has to be said in all fairness. Last night and this morning, the Democrats sat on the rug in the House of Representatives and indulged in a tantrum about not getting their way.  Ironically these fine liberal legislators are trying to be a Liberal NoGunner McCarthy, like the vilified Wisconsin senator who also had a little list. Speaker Ryan redirected attention away from the tantrum throwing overaged toddlers and back to the business of the country. The Hill describes Ryan’s response here:

The House adjourned for the Independence Day recess shortly after Republicans voted to pass an emergency funding package to combat the Zika virus after 3 a.m. Thursday. The House will have a pro forma session at 9 a.m. Friday but won’t return for legislative votes until Tuesday, July 5 and will then adjourn again 10 days later until after Labor Day.

But but gun laws are important say the sitters in. They are ignoring logic and actual facts.  Like these: Chicago located in Cook county with some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country has absolutely failed to stop the violence. Committed with unregistered weapons by felons carrying firearms no less. The Chicago Sun Times published this chilling statistic.

Jan. 1, 2015 – Dec. 31, 2015 2,988 shooting victims

And no amount of well intentioned gun laws will stop that.  Because the shooters are not using legal registered weapons.   

And there is there is this appalling part to said laws.  My congressman said it best:

Democrats are staging a sit-in on the House floor. They refuse to leave until our Constitution replaces due process with secret lists.

These secret lists are not accessible nor  are they accurate.

And Speaker Ryan is doing his job well. His spokeswoman AshLee Strong said this:

“Democrats can continue to talk, but the reality is that they have no end-game strategy,” Strong said. “The House is focused on eliminating terrorists, not constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens. And no stunts on the floor will change that.’

Thank you to Speaker Ryan and the GOP for being the adults. Leave the tantruming ones to their catered sit in protected by armed Capitol police.   All I can say to the whiney sitters down is grow up.
