Feminists Furious About Roofie Detecting Nail Polish

Most people have been celebrating a new nail polish invented by Undercover Colors, which changes color if it comes into contact with a date rape drug. A woman would need only to apply the nail polish before going out, and dip a finger into her drink to test it. The polish was invented by four male undergraduate students at North Carolina State University, because despite what feminazis consistently claim, all men don’t actually love rape. The polish will interact with date rape drugs such as Rohypnol, Xanax, and GHB. For most people with half a brain, this is a good thing.

And then there are the so-called feminists.

For most normal people, a nail polish that can detect if a drink has been spiked is something to celebrate — but then, feminazis can’t think about anything unless they’re making sure it’s been agenda-tested first. Does this make us angry? Yes. Does it make us come across as bitter hags? Yes. Does it give us a reason to blame men and further perpetuate our image as misandrists? Yes. It’s a winner!

Feministing made sure to tell women to stop getting so excited, because this is like, totes not a big deal at all. Stupid men.

Thanks to four male college students from North Carolina State University, you may soon be able to buy some nail polish that detects date rape drugs to go with your anti-rape underwear. Throw in your rape whistle and pepper spray camera, and you might be able to delude yourself into believing you’re 100% safe from sexual violence.

… Actually, date rape drugs, like Rohypnol, Xanax, and GHB, are not used to facilitate sexual assault all that often. While exact estimates vary, it’s safe to say that plain old alcohol is the substance most commonly used in drug-facilitated rape. Are you at all worried that by overstating the prevalence of date rape drugs, your product might give its users, who are no less likely to become victims of other kinds of sexual assault, a false sense of security? And given that your product only addresses a relatively tiny subsection of the sexual violence in this country, do you have any plans to donate your profits to help protect the remainder of the 18 percent?

… Do you know the definition of “empowering“? It involves giving someone the power to do something. “Giving” is not synonymous with “selling.” More importantly, do you know the definition of “prevent”? It is not synonymous with “avoid.” Personally avoiding sexual assault — or one particular, rather uncommon type of sexual assault — is not the same as preventing sexual assault. I’m not against the former, but I personally prefer to donate to folks working to do the latter. And I’m not so into a company that raises money by conflating the two.

And even though it’s, like, obviously not going to work, they want it to be free anyway. Because, you know, feminism.

Think Progress was pretty angry over this too, because somehow, giving women a tool to protect themselves from rape is rape culture, or something.

“I think that anything that can help reduce sexual violence from happening is, in some ways, a really good thing,” Tracey Vitchers, the board chair for Students Active For Ending Rape (SAFER), told ThinkProgress. “But I think we need to think critically about why we keep placing the responsibility for preventing sexual assault on young women.”

Women are already expected to work hard to prevent themselves from becoming the victims of sexual assault. They’re told to avoid wearing revealing clothing, travel in groups, make sure they don’t get too drunk, and always keep a close eye on their drink. Now, remembering to put on anti-rape nail polish and discretely slip a finger into each drink might be added to that ever-growing checklist — something that actually reinforces a pervasive rape culture in our society.

“One of the ways that rape is used as a tool to control people is by limiting their behavior,” Rebecca Nagle, one of the co-directors of an activist group called FORCE: Upsetting Rape Culture that challenges the societal norms around sexual assault, explained. “As a woman, I’m told not to go out alone at night, to watch my drink, to do all of these things. That way, rape isn’t just controlling me while I’m actually being assaulted — it controls me 24/7 because it limits my behavior. Solutions like these actually just recreate that. I don’t want to fucking test my drink when I’m at the bar. That’s not the world I want to live in.”

Guess what, Ms. Nagle? It’s not the world anyone wants to live in. Shocking, I know. But most people (who aren’t complete morons) understand that we have to actually live in the world that exists, and not the fantasy world that we wish existed. People rape other people. They also steal from them, beat them up, and kill them. Humanity is not perfect, and it never will be. Rape is also not going to go away, no matter how much brainwashing “educating” we do. It’s somewhat shocking that an adult woman, director of an organization that aims to prevent rape, would actually be pitching a hissy fit that she has to put up with living in a reality that doesn’t fit into her idealized fantasy dream world. What are we now? 12?

Not all of them hated this nail polish, of course. But even the femisogynists that applauded the polish still had to get their little rape culture barbs in — Bustle, for example, called the nail polish awesome, but had to make sure to continue the lie that men can be taught not to rape. Salon kinda-sorta approved of the nail polish, but their response was lukewarm at best, and they made sure to promote the educate-the-rape-out-of-men lie, saying, there’s room for skepticism about a rape prevention method that aims to deter assaults through more fear and stigma — albeit stigma attached to committing sexual assault, not to surviving it — instead of through education.

For people that claim to want to empower women, the so-called feminists sure do seem to have a problem with women being knowledgeable and capable of defending themselves. Remember what happened when Miss Nevada, Nia Sanchez, advocated for self-defense during the Miss USA pageant? The femisogynists had a complete and total meltdown, because heaven forbid women should be able to defend themselves if a rapist tried to attack them! Women shouldn’t have to defend themselves from rape, they whined. Well, sure. Again, in a perfect fantasy world, that would be true. Unfortunately though, we live in the real world, and as such, we should prepare accordingly. It would be fantastic if no one had to worry about being mugged or robbed or assaulted or raped or murdered. Those things happen though, they will continue to happen, and they will never stop happening. It’s a tragic reality, but it is reality.

Think about what femisogynists are really arguing for here, too: for women to remain helpless victims at the mercy of men who must decide whether or not they feel like exerting self-control and not raping them. How does that make any sense?! We should “educate” men to not rape — because every man has a rapist hiding inside him, right? — and then if that doesn’t work, women should just cower in fear and hope a police officer comes along to save them. Feminism!

Most men find rape abhorrent and horrific. It’s extremely offensive to tar all men with the rapist brush, because most men despise rape and will never, ever rape someone. But there will always be monsters that exist, both male and female, that steal and rape and kill. You can’t educate or hashtag the evil out of a monster. And RAINN (the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network), the foremost organization dedicated to the prevention of rape and sexual assault, agreed. They put out a press release recently which slamming the idea of rape culture and that we need to educate the rapist out of men, saying, it is important to not lose sight of a simple fact: Rape is caused not by cultural factors but by the conscious decisions, of a small percentage of the community, to commit a violent crime.

It’s a truth that feminazis would do well to remember, and then they might actually be able to help women for once. These so-called feminists have a choice. They can either drop the agenda and actually work to help empower women to not be victims of rape and sexual assault, or they can continue furthering their own message at the expense of women. If they are truly feminists, then the decision should be an easy one.

And meanwhile Beyonce does a raunchy strip tease show at the MTV awards while promoting feminism — you know, don’t you dare look at me like a sex object, you rapist, but watch my videos and buy my music that glorifies me as a sex object.

    The Stupid. It really hurts.

  • I agree – too many feminists seek to cash in on rape and use sexual violence to gain political power. They want women helpless and dependent upon Big Daddy government.

That said, I would be a bit leery about women putting too much trust into a nail polish that can detect date rape drugs. I am not a chemist, but I know enough science to know that a detecting agent can be contaminated – and rendered useless – by everyday handling. Also, those evil men inclined to use date rape drugs could find possibly find ways to counteract these chemical tests, or use new drugs that can escape detection. In any event, it seems to me that any woman would be well advised to (1) be careful of putting herself into potentially dangerous situations, (2) if possible have a friend or group of friends with you when drinking with a man you don’t know very well, and (3) learn self defense/carry a gun.

I hope that any chemists reading this blog will comment on this. To me this seems that it might possibly be too good to be true and have some significant limitations.

    • Rebecca says:

      Chemist here.

I think the news stories are giving the impression that the product is pretty far along. From what I can find out there, it’s more at the early proof-of-concept stage. The problem they are taking on is a hard one: there are many date-rape drugs out there, with different chemical structures and modes of interaction. You need to mate each of these up to a color-changing molecular recognition platform (doable) and then incorporate this chemical system into a lacquer formulation that retains its function. That part seems the hardest to me. It’s a very clever idea, and I think it’s years out from being a marketable product.

      • Thank you for the information! My background is in engineering and mathematics, not chemistry, so I don’t have the knowledge to know what is really going on with something like this. You help fill some gaps!

      • Merle says:

Maybe a different nail polish for each drug, to be worn on different fingers…

OK, ladies, just dip your whole hand into the drink & see how that works out…

Disgusting statement…looks like you haven’t recovered. Absolutely disgusting.

      • What is disgusting about it? What I said is true. The fact that you cannot see it saddens me and says a lot about you.

      • Mike says:

Jessica, consider what Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson do for a living. They foment real or imagined racial problems for political and personal gain. Recovering Lutheran is right – this is no different. Your disgust should be aimed at the agitators, not the one calling them out.

You had me until the feminazis. A difference of opinion, or speaking your opinion, on a subject, doesn’t make you a nazi. Can we please end the name calling? If you want to criticize or object to someone’s opinion, do so. But cut the name calling.

Apparently you don’t understand the mentality of some women.
And just what would you call the followers of Adolph?
You sound a little too politically correct & not understanding of the motives and attitudes of some groups.

    • GWB says:

OK on the name-calling. But the folks being highlighted are “NAZIs” in that they are fascists who desire to control others. They are full of hate for “the Other” and they have a mythology that supports their worldview.

    • Xavier says:

Feminazis is a satirical term that’s been around for at least 20 years. I remember hearing Rush use it on his early shows. Lighten up, Francis.

  • Merle says:

I wonder how their campaign to “educate” people not to drive drunk is going? Or any other crime, for that matter.

    Merle

  • GWB says:

These women are simply unhinged. Their mythology is more shaky than anything the Spaghetti Monster folks ever dreamed of. I think the Raillians (sp?) have a sounder basis for their beliefs than these folks do.

As to this product – more power to ’em! If y’all can make it reliable, then women can have one more tool in their bag to protect themselves.

Oh, as to the “feminists” – funny that their drive to turn women into the same sort of uncontrolled hedonists that men were always accused of being now puts them right back in the position they complained of in the beginning: being preyed upon. They can’t grasp that you simply can not have it both ways.

    • GWB says:

And, if they want to make this idea really take off, then promote a culture of “bring your own swizzle stick”, and turn this polish into a device. Make them to detect all sorts of things (like when they use the cheap gin!). Then it will simply be another party accessory for everyone.
      😉

      • Rebecca says:

Now that’s a concept that might be implemented more easily than the nail polish. A dipstick test built into a swizzle stick. Not quite as discreet, but really, if you don’t know your date well enough to trust that he’s not slipping you a roofie, why are you concerned about offending him?

        • It seems like a small device that serves as a general chemical analysis system should be doable. Plug it into your smart phone – or via Bluetooth or some such – and have an app that tests for a range of potential contaminants. We’re a good long way away from a tricorder that can tell you *everything* about a substance, but a device the size of a flash drive that looks for specific substances? Should be feasible.

Such a thing would be handy in a *lot* of situations, not just bars. Something you can use to test river/lake/tap water for heavy metals and other toxins would, I think, be quite popular.

          • GWB says:

And that’s why it could be a bigger market than just looking for “roofies”.

“Why, no, I’m not testing for roofies. I trust you, but I asked for Beefeater, and I don’t want them substituting the cheap stuff.” 😉

  • wfjag says:

“That’s not the world I want to live in.”

Guess what, fool — I don’t want to live in a world where it’s sometimes necessary to carry a firearm for protection of myself and family — but, my spouse and I both have CCW permits. And, we don’t want to have to live in a world where working at jobs that sometimes are boring, or stressful, or don’t let us sleep late, is necessary to maintain the standard of living we want for ourselves and our family. However, since we don’t want to be on Welfare, and we want to live at a much better standard of living, we work. And, I don’t want to live in a world where investing for retirement is necessary. However, Social Security (along with a long list of other entitlement programs) is going broke because of all of the added beneficiaries who haven’t paid into the system, and the fact that there is no “trust” — and the money received is put in the General Revenues of the Treasury, to somewhat hold down the deficits each year (while the unfunded liability is ignored). So, we invest for retirement.

Got the idea, yet? To be an adult, you have to live in the world as it is. Trying to change it is OK, but denial of reality is pathological. You are the person who is most responsible for yourself. If you don’t understand that, you aren’t a competent adult. If you don’t want to take care of and protect yourself, that’s your choice. Don’t expect me to do it for you.

  • Suz says:

Isn’t this kinda like saying bullet proof vest just welcome people to shoot at you? Seriously, anything that lowers my chances of being a victim I’m going to utilize.

  • Catie says:

I think it is a terrible idea to use words like “feminazi.” Feminism is not a bad thing.

To the commenters: It’s hypocritical to blame women for being seen as sex objects, and even leave the ball entirely in their court in order to prevent rape. It seems that is what you are saying in this article. What if I said that the sexy pin up girl on the top of your blog is “asking for it?” I mean, come on. That is disrespecting a female without taking any time to get to know them. Respect is earned– but it is given to people for what they dress… that isn’t earning respect is it? Of course not– it’s sexism, and probably other kinds of knee-jerk judgement.

Blaming women is the theme of this article. The feminists have a point, even though I, as a feminist, approve of the nail polish. Rape happens without the use of date rape drugs. When will people stop blaming women for being raped? Does she have to say, “I was drugged, or had a roofie slipped in my drink,” before her family, friends etc. believe that it wasn’t her fault? That should not be the only acceptable excuse. “He threatened to beat me up if I didn’t,” is sometimes the story of what happened. It’s rather easy to verbally threaten someone and have the victim comply.

Guess what? Men can be educated not to rape. Men who treat women well are educated enough to know the proper way to treat women. What you’re saying is true– some men will be criminals no matter what, but education does work. It has done men– like, for example, the men who developed this nail polish– a lot of good. Even men know that education works. =) In India, there is a huge problem with rape. Talking to an Indian man on a date, he said that there was a desperate need for the men of his community to learn more about how to respect a woman– he said it was CRUCIAL, and something that some boys are never told and never learn. He was sure that that is the problem with the trends of domestic violence and women committing suicide in large numbers in India.

So, in the U.S. or other countries, if we refrain from teaching our boys and young men about rape, we could experience a relapse. People, especially teenagers, do what their friends consider is the norm. I have talked to so many men who struggle with anger after not getting the sex they felt they rightfully earned, by treating the girl to dinner or whatever. I recently had a guy tell me that he thinks a girl he dated will probably get raped by another guy.

So if you didn’t know or hadn’t thought about these things, I would urge you to join a discussion with feminists, and read more about women’s rights news. We do live in a world where we have to protect ourselves, but I think we should have men and women both come half way– women have to protect themselves but actually do get reprimanded for being distrustful. So let’s consider both sides of the story and meet half way on this issue.

    • GWB says:

Blaming women is the theme of this article.

My word, you are exactly the sort of deranged idiot they are discussing.

So, in the U.S. or other countries, if we refrain from teaching our boys and young men about rape, we could experience a relapse.

Where in the world are we not “teaching” them this? Though, haranguing is usually a more appropriate term. Remember, it was feminists who insisted on doing away with chivalry – the part of civilization that teaches men to treat women properly.

    • Paul says:

Education is a problem, in this case your reading comprehension is pitiful.
      Where are the women blamed?

    • feministhater says:

Feminism is a bad thing. It tries to turn ordinary men into monsters and claims everything wrong in the world is due to men when men have practically protected women from the beginning of the species.

I hate feminists. That obviously includes you.

    • Vic says:

Catie, I couldnt have said it better myself. Thank you for taking your time and writing!

A lot of you people who are talking about feminists dont really seem to have an idea what you are talking about, yet you are so angry at us. Maybe reading into the subject a bit more would help you understand the arguments.

Have you people ever seen a rape trial? Have you ever seen how much they blame the victim, even when its proven she was raped? If she wore the wrong thing, then hey, she has only herself to blame.

The point feminists are trying to make here is that we should shift the focus for once on how guys can prevent rape and stop thinking so much about what the girls can do to avoid it. It is after all the rapist that has a problem, not the rapevictim.

      • Kit Lange says:

Yes. Some of us have. We’ve written about our experiences on this very blog, in fact.

And preventing rape is simple regardless of your gender. I would caution men to do the exact same thing I expect from women. Don’t get so stupid drunk that you can’t make clear, informed decisions. Don’t assume you’re in a safe place. Don’t sleep with strangers of either gender. Don’t put yourself in situations you will regret later. Don’t be a moron. I’m all about equality, you know.

      • GWB says:

The point feminists are trying to make here is that we should shift the focus for once on how guys can prevent rape and stop thinking so much about what the girls can do to avoid it.

It’s a friggin’ crime!!! How much more of a focus do you want it to receive?!?

Remember, you are the ones who killed chivalry. (Chivalry is civilized society’s way of protecting women from the baser side of men and from nature itself.) Yet, you still want the benefits. That’s the definition of crazy.

  • Kajal D says:

We REALLY need to make rape unthinkable for a rapist, instead of keeping on creating new ways for “women to keep themselves safer”
I wouldn’t say having a tool is a bad thing, because everybody lives in a different kind of a life situation and neighborhood. To Valerie’s point, it is a tool. But I agree that there is an issue of perpetuating rape culture when all “solutions” are about how women should not “let rape happen” to them. What I would like to see are solutions that teach a rapist a lesson for a change, eg- a pair of cutters you can carry in your purse that will chop off a rapist’s penis. Now THAT would be a great solution for rape that doesn’t play into the thinking that it’s a woman’s job to prevent rape. It’s a man’s job to NOT RAPE, and every rapist should be punished in a way that’s blood curdling and deters others. I’m, personally, really annoyed that none of the solutions targets controlling men, and preventing them from raping.

    • GWB says:

I’m, personally, really annoyed that none of the solutions targets controlling men

Thank you for finally admitting what the “Oh noes, this isn’t a solution” hand-wringing is all about. It’s about controlling men, not about actually making women safer.

BTW, I think actual rape should carry the death penalty – but it will require the dropping of the “Oh, I wouldn’t have slept with him if I had been sober, so it’s rape” line. And a LOT of evidence it was actually rape.

      • Kajal D says:

Great job taking half a sentence out of context and basing your personal rant on that.
Solutions shouldn’t involve controlling women and forcing women to be responsible for preventing men from raping. Solutions should focus on controlling men who are rapists, was the comment, just to make sure I don’t let you hijack my statements to false conclusions.
Note that actual punishment for rape requires proof. Law does not punish a rapist without enough proof.

        • GWB says:

I don’t think it was out of context at all. The above sorts of solutions (things like a handy way for a woman to detect someone trying to sedate her) aren’t about controlling women at all. They are about liberating them to make their own choices and take care of themselves.

We *do* control men who are rapists – at least for a number of years – in this place called prison. If you want to control them before they commit a crime, then you really aren’t talking about punishing a crime, but about thought police. That’s a much closer fit to the ideas of the radical feminists than simply punishing men who actually have raped a woman.

As to requiring proof… there’s very little proof required to accuse a man and ruin his life, regardless of actual convictions. Thank goodness our actual court system (unlike our colleges) still requires proof to convict the man of the crime.

  • John says:

Feminism is all about being a victim. Being an armed woman is all about not being a victim.

  • Kit Lange says:

What so many so-called feminists miss is that empowerment means giving people power, right? They love phrases like “take your power back.” Okay, well, I carry a .45. Considering anyone who screws with me will get their head blown off, I’d say that’s pretty powerful. Being a feminist means I take responsibility for my own safety and my own well-being. I don’t expect society to carry that weight, and I don’t assume that every guy around me is some creeper trying to rape me. I do, however, have a plan for those who are.

By the way…if every guy IS a rapist waiting to happen, shouldn’t you probably be protecting yourself from that?

    • Vic says:

hey kit lange, how do you expect to prove that this guy was trying to rape you when you blew his head off? if u dont think ur gonna get life in prison for murder when you have absolutely no proof, then you are just naive

      • GWB says:

How did you get into law school? It obviously wasn’t due to your high reasoning skills and knowledge of the law.

You might want to do some research (real research, not delving the *ahem* depths of HuffPo) on self-defense as an affirmative defense, and what’s required to convict someone of murder.

Oh, yes, and the fact that the defendant doesn’t have to prove anything in the United States – that’s the prosecutor’s job.

        • lee says:

if HE is just reaching for a pack of smokes then yeah she is raped, er that should have read fucked, rape comes later in the showers during the life sentence she is serving. I would love to be there to ask, “how did that whole gun carrying thing work out for you”

  • Vic says:

Newsflash, you do not require “very little proof” to sentence rape. You require a hell lot of proof and also a good lawyer, and yeah also for your rapist to be black, a bum, a poor person, or hideous. And you yourself have to be a child, a white girl, and also, most importantly, a virgin.

Otherwise, people dont get judged. If you see how many dark coloured girls who have reported white men to have raped them, and then see how many get sentenced, now theres a statistic thats scary.

Also only this year there are three examples of proven rape only in sweden where the rapist havent been prosecuted:

    1. six guys raped a girl. she was trying to get away but the door was locked. There were witnesses in the apartment. no one was sentenced.

    2. a guy raped a girl. she screamed no so many times the throat swelled up. she tried to fight her way free. in court he said he heard her say no but “thought she wanted rape-sex.” no discussion of having rape sex had ever occured. He was freed.

    3. a guy rapes a woman at a concert, he gets interrupted and because the rape was “just a couple of minutes long before interrupted” he wasnt sentenced.

now if you think it is easy to get sentenced for rape, think again. it is really hard to prove that someone raped you if u dont have a sperm sample, and even if you do, its word against word.

Also, statistically, a man is more likely to be raped himself, than to be falsely accused of rape by a woman. fact. a lot of feminist haters are trying to spread rumors about women falsely accusing etc etc. but sorry hun, im studying law and especially sexual assaults so i got the facts down on my lap.

Sorry to say it GWK but you dont really know what youre talking about in the rape department.

  • GWB says:

Newsflash, you do not require “very little proof” to sentence rape. You require a hell lot of proof and also a good lawyer, and yeah also for your rapist to be black, a bum, a poor person, or hideous. And you yourself have to be a child, a white girl, and also, most importantly, a virgin.

Oh for crying out loud. *eyeroll*

Also only this year there are three examples of proven rape only in sweden where the rapist havent been prosecuted:

Egad, that sentence alone is full of problems.

First, if they haven’t been prosecuted, then the rape wasn’t proven, was it? Or, by “proven” do you mean “I am positive I know exactly what happened, regardless of evidentiary rules and ideas like ‘innocent until proven guilty'”?

Second, how is it they “haven’t been prosecuted” when you say in the second instance “in court”? At a minimum, the accused faced a grand jury. In the first example you say no one was “sentenced” – they only get sentenced if they are convicted of a crime, which entails prosecution.

Third, this is in Sweden. Are you arguing that Swedish society is the problem? Or would you like to give examples from America? (This is an American blog, though they welcome folks from all over.)

it is really hard to prove that someone raped you if u dont have a sperm sample, and even if you do, its word against word.

It should be really hard to prove someone raped you. It’s a pretty heinous crime, so the required level of proof should be pretty high. (Unless, of course, you just think all men are rapists and should be locked away on a whim.) If you don’t want the case to be “word against word”, then you should do those things that put you in a position of having witnesses at a minimum. If you want to convict people of rape simply based on someone’s word, then you really don’t want justice at all.

Also, statistically, a man is more likely to be raped himself, than to be falsely accused of rape by a woman.

Bullshit. Pure and simple bullshit. If you’re using the “normal” set of “facts” that feminists pull out, then you’re being lied to. And if you’re studying law, and you maintain your attitude about what it should take to convict someone, I really hope you never pas the bar.

  • Andrew says:

I really think the issue of “educating” men about rape will yield little or no result, there is nobody who doesn’t know rape is a bad and shameful thing, there are killer STD’S out there and it still hasn’t stopped some monsters from committing that horrible crime, so I say to all women to protect themselves with as many things as possible because no matter how many protests against rape continue, it may not solve anything.

  • Derek says:

Earlier today on Twitter I asked the question to some people commenting that this nail polish promotes rape culture – why in the world would you not promote something that could possibly help prevent such a horrendous act? And within a half hour I had at least 30-40 replies and personal messages flat out calling me an ignorant man, a piece of s#@t, a uneducated pig, and even a couple women flat out called me a rapist. After messaging one woman assuring her I had never raped anyone she told me “congratulations on doing the bare minimum of living.” …. not even sure what that means?

As a husband who supports his wife who was also raped as a child by her father, I don’t really much care for this whole feminist outlook on ‘rape culture’. I think they need a good long look at the overall devaluing of human life in general. Not just women. But also men and children.

Essentially what I am hearing is the only way we can remove the rape culture is to put all men behind bars because every single one is a rapist. Yeah … makes me want to vomit.

Bottom line, feminism is wanting equality. Honestly, fuck the talk about hating men and wanting power. We just want to be equal to everyone else because we are human. If you think it’s anything different, you have a distorted idea on what feminism really is.

    • Jonathan says:

A lot of us do have a distorted idea of what feminism actually is. That fault lies with the loud minority within the feminist community that come off as super crazy man-hating harpies. We can’t make blanket statements about feminism anymore than feminists should make blanket statements about men. Its a two-way street.

    • Robert says:

No. Bottom line is feminism is an ideology. And like any ideology, it has its own mythology, its admirers, its followers, its fanatics and its chosen scapegoat for Everything Wrong With The World. And like any ideology, it narrows and distorts the worldview of its followers and fanatics until they are no longer entirely living in the REAL world. For all those who find themselves labelled the Villain of this fantasy story, it certainly doesn’t feel like the ideology is demanding *their* equality.

  • Jeourl says:

Some female students invented a date rape detection straw. If there is no oitrage of the same degree and reason then we know what’s up.
