You know, Donald Trump just can’t help himself. Its not enough that he’s in the running, 11th place last I checked, for Time magazine’s Person of the Year. Oh nooooo, he has to basically DARE the magazine to crown him king.

We have somebody from Time magazine here,” he told listeners during a rally in Birmingham, Ala., last Saturday, according to the magazine.
“You know, I was on the cover recently,” Trump said. “Now they’re here again, so I assume they’re considering me for ‘man of the year.’

“I say there’s no way they give it to me,” the outspoken billionaire added. “Because mentally they can’t. They just can’t. They can’t do it. They can’t. Even if I deserve it, they can’t do it.”

Oh but that’s not the only off-the-wall comment he made at that same rally.

Just when you think he can’t jump the shark any higher… he does. At that same rally in Birmingham, Trump spoke about watching the towers fall on 9/11,and then added this little gem to his commentary:

“And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down,” he added. “Thousands of people were cheering.”

Thousands of people cheering Donald? Really??!! I can tell you this, I was glued to the news on that day and for many days afterwards. I didn’t see any video about Muslims in NJ dancing in the streets. Did you? I have friends in NJ who, to this day, are extraordinarily grateful that they made it home considering their offices were AT the WTC complex. They don’t remember any celebrations either. Oh – video? I haven’t found one, have you? Oh wait, perhaps its THIS video?

One teeny tiny problem with the content of the video. It takes place in ANOTHER COUNTRY! Last time I checked, the West Bank and New Jersey aren’t even in the same time zone OR the same continent! As you might guess, there are many who are ticked off about Trump’s definitively false claims. Paterson, NJ Police Commissioner Jerry Speziale said:

“That is totally false. That is patently false,” Speziale said. “That never happened. There were no flags burning, no one was dancing. That is [barnyard epithet].”

And it didn’t stop there.

So far, no one can find video or media proof to Trump’s claims of ‘thousands and thousands’ in NJ were cheering as the Twin Towers fell. In fact, Trump gave several interviews right after 9/11, during which he talked about the buildings themselves, a memorial and more. Why didn’t he mention these so-called celebrations during those interviews??

Unfortunately, Ben Carson got sucked into the blowhard lunacy that is Donald Trump. When asked by an ABC News reporter if he saw any video of people cheering, he said “Yes.”

Reporters then asked Carson to clarify if he had seen the cheering on 9/11.

“I saw film of it,” he said, adding that he had seen the footage in news coverage from the time of 9/11.

Oh boy… he saw it in the newsreels?? This didn’t go over well and only served to add fuel to the Trump fire.

Donald, even though facts don’t matter to you or your low-information fan base, let me help you with a couple of things. The WaPo article you so gleefully retweeted a few hours ago doesn’t back you up. A “number” of people? How many is a “number?” 5, 10, 50, 2? Oh and that word “allegedly?” Yeah, that’s another word the media uses for reporting rumors as kind of sort of facts. Yes there are police reports in the days after 9/11 about a celebration. However, for Trump to claim that he SAW thousands celebrating in NJ is bogus and wrong.

Ben Carson quickly backtracked his story about what he saw. He and his campaign are now claiming that Carson was thinking of the heinous celebrations in the Middle East when he answered the question. At the moment, I doubt that’s going to help. Carson is now tied to one of Donald Trump’s bogus claims and he’ll quickly learn that the fallout from it is going to be YUUUGE.

Ladies and gentlemen, there you have it. A candidate for President who will triple down when challenged, even when the facts are against him. I ask, once again, if he is elected; what will happen when he is challenged by a REAL adversary…like Putin?

I have seen evidence from newspaper articles supporting the fact that yes, muslims in NJ and other states DID in fact celebrate when the Twin Towers were hit. So Trump is correct on that fact. I doubt the number but it happened and the police were called. I will have to see if I can find the articles.

As the WaPo and others have pointed out, there were articles about some celebrations by a number of people. Again the key word is allegedly.

However, the big part of the falseness of Trump’s claim is that he SAW thousands cheering in the streets. Problem is – no one can seem to find any news reports or video to help him back his claim.
