Do you know the liberals in your circle? A Response to the Baltimore Sun Article

Yesterday morning a woman by the name of Tricia Bishop, Contact Reporter for the Baltimore Sun, wrote a stunning article. The article itself (read here) is packed to the brim with a vilifying narrative and white baltimore sunprivilege, but it was the featured image (right) that caught my eye right from the start. Yes, that is a freshly manicured index finger resting on the boom switch. Those of us who are law abiding gun owners know that you don’t put your finger on the trigger – ever – until you’re prepared to fire your weapon. I guess they didn’t teach that lesson in Tricia’s lily-white Stepford Wives neighborhood, where she has “the luxury of being white and middle class in a largely segregated city that reserves most of its shootings for poor, black neighborhoods overtaken by “the game.”

The game? Clearly somebody watched Boyz n the Hood when Ward and June Cleaver were spending the evening out at the Rotary Club.

The article goes on to propose the idea of a public registry for gun owners, and she notes that it would be “something like those for sex offenders.” Which of course makes anyone with an IQ higher than that of Lennie Small wonder just how many individuals would be raped and murdered after criminals used the registry and broke into the homes of those not listed. Think about it, though… Why not put millions of men, women, and children in danger when the other option of simply asking “Do you have guns in your home?” would require that Tricia put down her Soy No Foam Half-Fat Latte and dial her phone.

She then went on to spout the typical statics propagated by the anti-gun fear mongering cartels.

U.S. toddlers were accidentally shooting people — including themselves — at the rate of one per week last year. More than 21,000 Americans committed suicide with a firearm in 2014 (nearly twice the number of gun homicides), while 586 people were accidentally killed with guns (10 percent of them age 15 and younger). And most of the guns used in the last 15 unpredictable mass shootings — including San Bernardino; Umpqua, Ore.; and Marysville, Wash., where a 15-year-old used his father’s Beretta to kill four fellow high school students — were purchased legally. The mother of the Umpqua shooter, who killed nine people at a local community college, had even bragged online a decade ago about her son’s “knowledge in this field” of firearms. So much for safety training.

I find it interesting that she didn’t mention anything about bathtubs. I mean, between the years of 2006 and 2010, 346 children under the age of 5 years-old drowned in bathtubs or infant wash apparatuses, while 94 children under 5 years-old died from accidental gun shots during the same amount of time. Oh, facts, they sure can be pesky.

She continues:

Guns in the home are far more likely to be used accidentally, in suicides or family disputes than in self defense, according to studies based on anecdotal evidence. (Perhaps Mr. Obama’s improved research will show for sure.) And I’m pretty certain that if I’d had a gun the one time I was the victim of a violent crime (in upstate New York), the outcome would have been a lot worse than it was, with the firearm turned against me in short order. Instead, I was able to scream and break away from a mugger with a dull knife trying to force me into a vacant lot between rowhouses.

In light of her proposal, I would like to make a counter proposal: A public registry for liberals. This idea came to me after I thought of the 10 hour drive home I make to St. Louis a couple times each year, and of the story my uncle told me about his neighbor, a flaming liberal, who fully supports abortion, the anti-gun rhetoric, and he’s frequently worn narrative driven t-shirts around kids as they played nearby.

See, I’m less afraid of the criminals that would wish to harm my family, than I am those who wish to pass such dangerous and irresponsible beliefs onto future generations. Little girls growing up, being taught to fear guns, making safe work environments for rapists. Young women being taught that butchering their child should not only be legal but celebrated, as long as it’s done in a clean environment by men and women who dodge legally being labeled a “murderer” by mere inches. Children, with minds like sponges, being taught to segregate themselves from other classes and races by the ivory tower elitists of the left. The dangers, quite frankly, are paramount.

What if little Jane listens to the stats above and starts to believe that guns are rarely used for self-defense, a claim that Tricia herself admits is anecdotal; not because of lack of testing, but because measuring the number of guns fired in self-defense is only a minor piece of the puzzle? What if Jane is mesmerized by their selective stats and fails to properly research, leading her to miss the fact that back in 1994 they surveyed 1,874 felons, funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, and found that 81% agreed that a “smart criminal” will find out if their victim is armed, that 74% agreed that burglars avoid occupied homes out of fear of an armed home owner? What if she doesn’t learn that said study found that 40% of those criminals questioned did not commit a specific crime because they thought the potential victim might be armed?

The stats go on, and on, and on, because criminals prefer their victims unarmed.

What if Sally and Billy are exposed to the unmitigated stupidity of liberals for too long and are told that more rapes and murders happen in the U.S., despite gun ownership? What if they don’t learn to vet such rubbish and never become privy to the fact that the legal definitions vary by country? For example, rape in the UK is defined in very strict terms, while the definition of rape in the U.S. can range between a violent attack and savvy pickup lines given to an inebriated woman. In addition, our homicide rates are based on initial data, while in the UK the rate is based on final disposition. Since 1967, the UK calculations exclude any cases that do not result in conviction, nor any cases prosecuted under the grounds of self-defense.

Perspective: in 2012 we had 14,827 homicides, only 7,133 arrests were made for those homicides. The number of convictions are even less, which would cut our homicide rate by more than half.

What if little Bobby hangs around that leftist neighbor who has his talking points memorized, and he starts to believe that guns encourage suicide? They’ll never tell him that Japan, Russia, Poland, Finland, Iceland, France, and 43 other countries have higher suicide rates than us. Little Bobby could grow up believing that people who want to kill themselves won’t be able to do so without their weapon of choice, that the gun-free utopian paradise proposed by the masses would have saved the 21,000 people who wanted to die in 2014.

The point, friends, is that exposure to these toxic and privileged pests teach children to fear self-defense, it teaches women to be terrified of the right to even the fight and protect ourselves. A properly trained female with a firearm is a confident and self-reliant female. No longer scared to walk alone, no longer needing the protection of others. It’s a beautiful marriage between safety and independence.

In her article, Tricia speaks of a time when she was attacked and able to escape. She praises the fact that a firearm wasn’t necessary, while spending her article vilifying those who advocate for women like Brianna Denison who weren’t so lucky. Brianna was brutally raped and murdered over a year after her attacker was able to rape Amanda Collins, a concealed carry license holder, when she was denied her right to carry on campus. Tricia advocates for a system that would merely help rapists and murderers, yet we’re the villains who deserve to have our names listed on a public registry?

Protect the kids, and our sanity. It’s time for a public registry for liberals. If you’re going to embrace weapons grade stupidity in your home, the rest of us should have a right to know it’s there before we – or our children – enter.

The Baltimore Sun–I’m always surprised that it’s still in print. We got the paper for at least 20 years. We unsubscribed the year there was no mention of the Libertarian running for the city council and when they penned the editorial that said Michael Steel contributed nothing to the contest for Governor/Lt Governor but his race. I studied journalism in college (not my major). The Baltimore Sun is a disgrace. I wonder how they delude themselves into thinking that what they’re doing is journalism.

Please do not call these people “liberals” – they are LEFTISTS. They are not “progressives” either; they are STATISTS.

Do not surrender our clear language to these cowardly tyrants. There is nothing liberal or progressive about their ideas or their tactics. their ideas are OLD and FAILED ideas.

Thes people are old-fashioned leftists, socialists, communists. Don’t pretty them up by giving them the nicer-appearing name of liberals.

Thomas Jefferson was a liberal. He believed in LIBERTY. Tricia Bishop is nothing like Thomas Jefferson.

I have no idea why the swipe at Rotary Clubs. Do you have any idea what they are? It’s not a country club. It’s a service club – they do all kinds of good things.

So, my advice would be to remove that phrase – it is meaningless, and there are Rotary Clubs all over the world with people from all walks of life and all colors and races and creeds.

    Great piece.

It’s Ward and June Cleaver. Theodore was the Beaver.

according to studies based on anecdotal evidence

Ummmm…. those wouldn’t be “studies”, then. They would be “stories”. Here’s some “real data”, as I like to call it:

    2) Even criminals take the presence of a firearm seriously. More specifically, everyday 550 rapes, 1,100 murders, and 5,200 other violent crimes are prevented simply by the presence of a firearm. In less that 0.9% of these instances is the gun ever fired. (National Crime Victimization Survey, 2000, Bureau of Justice Statistics, BATF estimates on handgun supply)

And I’m pretty certain that if I’d had a gun the one time I was the victim of a violent crime (in upstate New York), the outcome would have been a lot worse than it was

Then you’re a feckless idiot. Check out this statistic:

When a woman was armed with a gun or a knife during an attempted rape, only 3% of the rapes actually were completed. (U.S. Department of Justice, Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, Rape Victimization in 26 American Cities, 1979)

But, hey! Look at it this way: you’re a 3%er!

To link in the Philly cop story:
If only cops didn’t have guns, they couldn’t have them stolen and used against other cops!

I’d like to propose a database of morons. We all need to know who is not to be trusted with sharp objects, and who should probably be prohibited from spreading their idiot genes to their crotchfruit.

In the absence of said list, my reply to this dimbulb.

All gun control elitests have armed guards. Give up your guns first — obomba, rosie, bloomberg and other leftists.

    Very well stated, Nicki….thank you!
