Democrats stack the electoral deck for 2020

Still reeling from Hillary Clinton’s loss in 2016, Democrats are doing all they can to stack the electoral deck in their favor. Several states have passed laws that will force their electoral votes to be cast for the winner of the national popular vote instead of according to how their state voted. The never-ending Mueller investigation continues to expand instead of wrapping up. But there’s more, so much more, up the liberal sleeves of the DNC and its supporters.

Bernie Sanders, the grandfatherly socialist who claims membership in the Democratic Party only when it serves his purpose (like running on a major party ticket for President) starts us off. At a campaign stop earlier this month, he warned “his supporters that they were up against not only Republicans and Wall Street and corporate interests — but ‘the establishment Democrats,’ too.”

But that isn’t all he’s done. His campaign finally confirmed the hiring of reporter David Sirota as “speechwriter” and senior advisor. It isn’t unusual for a candidate to hire a speech writer. What’s unusual is that Sirota filled these roles for months prior to being “hired”. During that time, Sirota, on social media, “blasted other Democrats vying for the White House.”

After being contacted by The Atlantic, the publication notes more than 20,000 of Sirota’s tweets were deleted. Several tweets in January and early February to his account, which has about 125,000 followers, berated Sen. Kamala Harris for “retreating for Medicare for All” and said Sen. Cory Booker had “attacked the Obama campaign & voted with the GOP” on a bill regarding the price of medicine. Both are also running for president.”

How long before others in the party start following the example set by the “elder statesman”, especially since they can not only use such tactics against one another but against President Trump as well?

And the DNC is allowing this. As a Conservative, I welcome it because this sort of in-fighting can (and hopefully will) weaken the party not only when it comes to the presidential election but to down-ticket elections as well.

But there’s more.

Elizabeth Warren, doing her best to imitate freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, proposed more than $100 trillion in governmental spending. Not only would this include the New Green Deal. It would also include “Medicare-for-All, slavery reparations, universal childcare, universal pre-K, ‘universal pre-pre-K,’ the creation of 3 million new federal housing units, increasing infrastructure spending several times, [and] forgiveness of student loan debt.” I swear, she’s been spending too much time with AOC.

When asked how she’d pay for all these wonderful programs, she proposed a single tax on the “very wealthy”. Remember, she proposed a wealth tax around the time she announced her bid for president. She opposes a gasoline tax increase because it would be “regressive against the poor.” While I object to increasing the gas tax, thinking you can tax the rich to pay for all these so-called wonderful programs and not get major pushback, starting with court challenges, goes beyond being foolish. But boy does it sound good. How many touchy-feely issues did she pack into that speech, all hoping to pull some of the support away from Bernie?

Unfortunately, it gets more insidious than that. If it was just candidates speaking out of both sides of their mouths to steal votes away from their competition, there’d be little to worry about. Democrats presidential candidates Robert Francis O’Rourke, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren and Kirsten Gillibrand have all floated the idea of expanding the Supreme Court to 15 justices. This packing of the Court is their attempt to prevent any Republican president from having the chance to put a conservative majority in place ever again.

That’s not all. Last week, Nancy Pelosi championed the cause of lowering the voting age to 16. Think about that. She’s talking about youngsters who are not legally recognized as adults. Kids who, in most jurisdictions are barely able to legally obtain their driver’s license. Kids who have yet to graduate from high school, who aren’t old enough to legally but a pack of cigarettes or buy a beer would be voting for president.

Fortunately, the majority of Americans disagree.

Add to that the House voting in favor of localities allowing illegal immigrants to vote in local elections and you can see where this is going. The Dems will do whatever it takes to expand their voting base, whether it is within the intent of the Constitution or not. Who doubts that, if there becomes much local support for illegal aliens voting, they won’t try to expand it to state and then national elections? There is a reason why they want to encourage illegals to answer the census when it comes out next.

The only way we have a hope of preserving what is left of our Republic is to turn them out of the House, stop them from gaining any more seats in the Senate and make sure they do not win back the Oval Office. We are on a slippery slope now where the DNC is embracing socialism. All you have to do is look and see how it ignores the actions of its own members in its ongoing attempts to drive Trump from office. In the process, they are trampling on our rights, tossing them out with the proverbial bathwater.

It must not continue and it is up to us to stop it.

For the moment, anyway. Amanda, you’re forgetting that there’s no idea too looney for the American public to embrace in the name of “enlightenment”. Recall that in the space of a mere ten years the concept of same-sex marriage went from such a looney idea to majority support–even before the Supreme Court ruled it was OK. Today if you criticize it you will be ostracized from polite society, you will lose your job, and your life will be destroyed. Coming soon re transgender “rights”, pronouns, bathrooms, etc.

I agree, 16 is ridiculous, but we live in a ridiculous age.

Ashley, I’m not forgetting it. I keep reminding myself that those who strive for such foolish and idiotic “enlightenment” are the minority. But they keep getting their way because too many folks think an idea is too crazy to take hold. They sit on the sidelines, shaking their heads, saying something won’t happen and then can’t believe it when it does happen. That why I am so adamant that we have to make our voices heard. We have to get out and vote and we have to hold our politicians’ feet to the proverbial fire. Otherwise, we are all going to be out of luck and sooner, rather than later.

“Fortunately, the majority of Americans disagree.” Unfortunately, what the majority of Americans want is ignored by our political elites, with rare exceptions. Absent a massive and specific barrage of letters and phone calls it is business as usual in the Halls of Power, with the peasants outside being ignored.

    • Amanda Green says:

Exactly, Bill. That is why, as I said above, we have to make our voices heard. We have to hold our pols accountable and we have to be active participants in what is happening in and to our country.

And unless we physically prevent the voter fraud, it won’t matter what Americans disagree with.

    ‘universal pre-pre-K’
Ummm…. so, she wants in-womb education? Because that would be pretty radical for a feminist/Democrat.
(Will be a big boon to the audiobook industry…….)

Sadly, unless the Republicans start actually wanting to return us to a Constitutional, limited, federal gov’t, it won’t end up mattering. Note that Trump had a Republican Congress for the first two years, and they not only failed on some signature issues, they actively opposed some of those mostly-conservative measures.

Is that even legal? Has it even been implemented or it’s something brand new since 2016? Would that even stand up to a court challenge?
