#CNNDebate: Scott Walker Attacks Media Narrative

I’m a happy resident in the state of Wisconsin. I campaigned, supported, and voted three times for Scott Walker. Unfortunately, the union busting shark I know and love is looking a little out of place right now, many eluding to the idea that his presidential campaign has a foot toe in the grave. That said, he’s not happy about how the CNN debate went down on Wednesday, and he’s making it very clear. On Thursday, Walker spoke with Glenn Beck:

“I think going in, we knew the narrative no matter what was gonna happen was they were gonna say that Carly had a big night, no matter what, and obviously, they said that,” Walker told radio host Glenn Beck on Thursday. “I think the other impression — the feedback I got from folks, not just in the press but from across the country we talked to was a frustration that there wasn’t more talk.”

Yikes! Media narrative or not, Carly had a big night because she executed her rebuttals incredibly well. She was thorough, concise, and not only was she on the offense, she defended her own record with ease. She challenged her possible Democrat opponents, and right now leftists are attacking her non-stop because she gave them a reason to be scared. I can agree that Scott received the short straw, per se, but I don’t agree that Carly won simply because the narrative was in place.

Donald Trump “trumped” his opponents in terms of candidate talk time, however, he failed miserably in content. Scott Walker came in last with a sad 8 minutes of talk time, which I’ll agree was less than fair.

The truth is that while the speaking time was clearly unbalanced, to put it mildly, Scott Walker has struggled to find his place in a crowded primary race. While others have solidified their strong points, Walker has drifted between Canadian border walls, birthright citizenship, and union thuggery. In my humble opinion, he should have run with his record of taking down unions and stuck with it, making it the core of his campaign. Walker is a winner, but in an already cramped race with similar minded candidates, only those who stand out on a certain issue will be successful.

Due to his debate performance, Walker is rumored to be in the process of reassuring his donors.

The bundlers were assured they still had “a great product” in Walker and that the campaign is still expecting popular outsiders Donald Trump, Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson to “start to fade as people recognize they don’t have the credibility to run the government,” said a Walker bundler who attended the event.

Despite the feelings of urgency surrounding his campaign, donors still feel that Walker has a chance. Optimistic, yet cautious.

One of Walker’s donors, Minnesota billionaire Stanley Hubbard, said he intended to have a conversation with Walker soon, adding he would advise him on getting his campaign back on track.

“I’ve been in the TV business for a long time,” Hubbard said. “You might have four or five potential anchors … and you give them the same script to read. And for some reason, people think, ‘Oh that guy’s terrific’. And Walker says the right things, he’s proven what he can do, but I come to work, I hear my wife, and they’re not excited about what he did last night.”

“He said all the right things, but it’s like the anchor person,” Hubbard added, calling Walker a “very decent guy and maybe he just needs some coaching. From the right people. Not the wrong people.”

So what will we see from Walker in the future? Will he be coached into a successful campaign, or will the Governor of Wisconsin fizzle before years end? If he remains in the race, hones in on a particular strength, and gets more air time as other candidates drop out, he may have a shot. If he drops the ball again, he won’t get it back. That’s my opinion, but what’s yours?
