CNN Fires Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan, the British guy who thinks he should be able to dictate which parts of our Constitution are acceptable and which are not, has finally been fired by CNN. His ratings had been dismal for a while, but when Fox moved Megyn Kelly to prime time, it was the last nail in his coffin.

“CNN confirms that “Piers Morgan Live” is ending,” the network said in a statement. “The date of the final program is still to be determined.” …

“It’s been a painful period and lately we have taken a bath in the ratings,” Morgan told the New York Times on Sunday.

In his interview with the Times, Morgan said he thought the audience may have grown weary of his focus on gun control — a major topic of conversation on the show in the wake of several mass shootings in the United States.

“Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues, including guns, which has been very polarizing,” he said. “There is no doubt that there are many in the audience who are tired of me banging on about it.”

Gee, you think? Someone can only insult the United States, its citizens, and the Constitution so much before they start getting a backlash. And Morgan’s backlash has been steadily growing over time. It’s more than a little insulting to have a British guy bloviating about how Americans shouldn’t be allowed to own guns, and it’s a topic he really should have thought twice about, considering how it turned out the last time Great Britain tried that one. No one wants to watch an egomaniacal narcissist sneer at them every night. The only real question here is why it took CNN so long to throw him out. It says a lot about just how biased the media is, actually. Morgan’s ratings were in the toilet for a long time. But he had the right ideology. He was a solid liberal who advocated for gun control and championed liberal pet causes. It took them much longer than it should have to fire him, and one has to wonder if he would have had nearly as many chances had he been a gun-toting conservative.

In his own words, “‘banging on about it’.” Not informed, civil discussion and discourse. Rather, the continual liberal “litany of the wussified over firearms” made it hear to abide.
Moreover as you indicated: “No one wants to watch an egomaniacal narcissist sneer at them every night.” It’s bad enought we have one as president. (grin)

  • CNN could take a page out of Fox’s playbook and put some non-leftist opinions on the air. They could do away with the the dreary Marxism that dominates so much of Western journalism in favor of a more fact-based approach.

But of course they won’t. Euripides (484 BC – 406 BC) is credited credited with the following saying: Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.

Let’s drop him off in Detroit at midnight with a loaded pistol and see if he has the courage of his convictions.
