CNN: The Most [dis]Trustful Name in News

Nothing tickles the tiny, black heart of Progressives quite like some hostile-to-America potentate attempting to slam Republican leaders. CNN today leads the pack in slobbering glee over bloody Kim Jong Un’s Li’l Kimmer as she was tossing daggers at Vice President Pence’s back.

Marta covers that paroxysm of Leftwing ejaculation here.

From CNN:

If “diplomatic dance” were an event at the Winter Olympics, Kim Jong Un’s younger sister would be favored to win gold.
With a smile, a handshake and a warm message in South Korea’s presidential guest book, Kim Yo Jong has struck a chord with the public just one day into the PyeongChang Games. […]

Experts say her visit for the Winter Games is calculated to answer the expected presence of Ivanka Trump at the closing ceremonies.

“Kim Yo Jong is the perfect counterpart to this,” Hwang said. “And it also is a signal that North Korea is not this crazy, weird former Cold War state — but it too has young women that are capable and are the future leadership.”

“Experts say” is too cute by half.

The fact that this female is serving the man who murdered his older brother and that North Korea is still a crazy, weird, and thoroughly evil state doesn’t register on the Progressive radar.

However, we’ve been here before. The most infamous case being that of Walter Duranty, a corrupt apologist for Stalin, who used his position as a reporter for The New York Times to not just coverup the mass genocide Stalin was committing, but to argue against any reports of it that leaked through.

During the rise of fascism in the early 1930’s, American progressives saw what they deemed the ‘failure’ of capitalism. There was an embrace, if not of Hitler (except by those in thrall to eugenics) then of Mussolini. FDR was particularly impressed with El Duce, once writing “I don’t mind telling you in confidence that I am keeping in fairly close touch with that admirable Italian gentleman.” The thread of ideology that tied all three together was hatred of free markets and a fervent belief that the state should run everything.

From FDR’s point of view, Mussolini had gotten an earlier start in expanding state power in a way that FDR himself intended; Italy under the Duce seemed to have moved further down the progressive road than America. So FDR urged leading members of his brain trust to visit Italy and study Mussolini’s fascist policies to see which of them could be integrated into the New Deal.

Rexford Tugwell, one of FDR’s closest advisers, returned from Italy with the observation that “Mussolini certainly has the same people opposed to him as FDR has.” Even so, “he seems to have made enormous progress.” Tugwell was especially impressed by how the Italian fascists were able to override political and press opposition and get things done.

Tugwell quoted favorably from the 1927 charter of Italian fascism, the Carta del Lavoro, which seems to have impressed him far more than the American Constitution. Fascism, he concluded, “is the cleanest, neatest, most efficiently operating piece of social machinery I’ve ever seen. It makes me envious.”

Not that this burning desire to control Other People’s Lives is limited to the 20th Century:

“There’s a level of admiration I actually have for China because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime”
~~Justin Trudeau

The election of Donald Trump was a fat thumb in the Progressive eye. The future was theirs and how dare the deplorable hoi polloi reject them and vote “against their self-interest”?

So when Fat Boy’s sister throws shade at the current American administration the death camps, the starvation, even the incidents of fratricide and parricide by Un, mean nothing.

Nothing at all.

“Media bias in editorials and columns is one thing. Media fraud in reporting ‘facts’ in news stories is something else. …The issue is not what various journalists or news organizations’ editorial views are. The issue is the transformation of news reporting into ideological spin, along with self-serving taboos and outright fraud.”
~~Thomas Sowell
