Is anyone going to really try and tell Clint Eastwood that he isn’t allowed to film in Georgia?

If they do, can we get tickets to watch that? I would bring the popcorn.

There’s been so much wailing and gnashing of teeth from the Hollywood Left about Georgia’s “heartbeat law,” and yet here is Clint Eastwood, quietly ignoring them all. The legendary actor/director is making a movie about Richard Jewell, and since the real-life events happened in Atlanta, that’s where Eastwood will be filming the movie.

According to WJCL, Eastwood is moving forward with production on his latest movie in Georgia, clearly ignoring the calls for a boycott. It wouldn’t make much sense to film anywhere else as the often right-leaning director and actor will helm a story that’s very specific to the city of Atlanta.”

“The Ballad of Richard Jewell” is based on a real-life incident that took place during the 1996 Olympics there.”

Security guard Richard Jewell discovered a pipe bomb in a knapsack at a park near the Olympic grounds. Although he reportedly helped clear bystanders out of harm’s way, he was later named as the primary suspect in the case. Jewell endured countless media outlets naming him a lone bomber and terrorist, only to be cleared of all charges three months later.”

Eric Robert Rudolph pleaded guilty to the bombing in 2005. Jewell eventually sued media outlets for dragging his name through the mud and won. Variety reports Kathy Bates, Olivia Wilde, Jon Hamm, and Sam Rockwell have all signed on for roles in the upcoming movie, which is expected to begin filming in Georgia soon.”

While Eastwood and his handful of stars are not observing the Georgia boycott, many big studios that film there such as Netflix, Disney and AMC have publicly spoken about the possibility of moving their work out of the state due to its passing of the “heartbeat” bill.”

This won’t be the first time that Clint Eastwood has dared stand against the tide of the Hollywood Left.

My bet is that the Hollywood Left will ignore the fact that Clint Eastwood is bucking their “boycott” because they’re all too cowardly to call him out to his face. Someone rabid like Alyssa Milano might whine on Twitter, but you can’t tell me that if Eastwood offered her a role in a movie, she wouldn’t come running. After all, it’s not like he’s Roman Polanski or anything. Hollywood has no standards, only loyalty to the almighty paycheck. If someone like Eastwood goes his own way, there might be grumbling behind the scenes, but there won’t be a direct protest against him.

But if there is, I’ll bring the popcorn.

Leave it to Clint Eastwood to show Hollywood for the cowards and hypocrites they are.

Good for him. Now let’s see what happens with the Covington school boy case. Clearly the media didn’t learn anything about fair reporting and the principle ‘innocent until proven guilty’ from Jewell’s case in the 1990s.
