Chuck Schumer Enlists Amy Schumer In Push for Gun Control

On my list of people to take Gun Control advice from, the woman who brags about taking Plan B before going to her yoga class doesn’t make the cut.

“Schumer & Schumer,” the sign read, before relaying the pair’s message about gun violence: “Enough is enough.”

The Schumers were Chuck and Amy: the powerful Democrat who has long pressed for stricter gun laws, and the comedian whose sexually frank stand-up act, television series and film debut have fueled a rapid rise.

Amy Schumer hasn’t been one to hide her opinions on many topics, one of which being gun control. In May,  Comedy Central released a video that showed Amy asking various people if birth control was right for her, “Ask your doctor if birth control is right for you… then ask your boss if birth control is right for you,” a clear attack on the Supreme Court case that argued for employers rights concerning contraception coverage. The struggle is real! Those sex slaves held captive by ISIS have no idea what pains they’re avoiding by living outside of the contraceptive hostage holding U.S. of A. I digress. At the end of the video, a child runs up looking for a gun and, of course, the pharmacist throws one across the counter without question… because that’s how it works, right? Clearly demonstrating how difficult it is to obtain birth control, and how easy it is to obtain a gun. You know, “harmless” entertained aimed at demonizing those who support the First and Second Amendments.

Chuck and Amy are cousins, so who better to call than your edgy comedian kin to push gun control for you, right? I mean, who is more qualified to speak on the subject of ending gun violence and mass shootings than a proficient such as Amy Schumer? I can’t think of a single person. Okay, maybe one. Two at the most. Well, only a few thousand off the top of my head. Okay… millions, but let’s not get carried away.

The new push for gun control in Congress also comes after the FBI reported that a breakdown in the system made it possible for Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof to purchase a gun.

“These shootings have got to stop. I don’t know how else to say it,” Amy Schumer said at the press conference Monday, who refused to say the name of the gunman during her remarks.

“These shooting have got to stop.”

You don’t say.

After the shooting in Lafayette, gun-control advocate Sarah Clements called on the actress to take a stand on the issue in an open letter, writing, “We need your voice in this movement.”

“Your movie  …  will now forever have this shooting attached to it. You’ve been caught in the middle of our country’s terrifying, unending war with itself, our sick and twisted relationship with the gun lobby, which tells us we need guns for anyone, anywhere, anytime. … Join our movement.”

Maybe we should look at the most obvious common denominator in all of these mass killings: Gun free zones. Well, we should, but we won’t, because their beloved signs can’t possibly be the issue at hand, it has to be the inanimate objects at fault. This isn’t Chuck Schumer’s first go-round with gun control, he has been a long time supporter of restricting the Second Amendment.

Schumer said that in order to substantially reduce gun violence, though, Congress needs do three things: “ban assault weapons, to try and reinstate the assault weapons ban, the second is to limit the size of clips, to maybe no more than 10 bullets per clip, and the third would be make it harder for mentally unstable people to get guns.”

Now he’s just getting creative by adding in Amy Schumer, who I’m sure has dedicated years months minutes to in-depth studies concerning the data and research behind gun control. Hey, while we’re on the subject of dangerous weapons, maybe they could talk about a few dangerous weapons that end thousands of innocent lives everyday….

How does Amy feel about the organization best known for using such weapons to end lives?

And what about cousin Chuck? Well, yesterday he voted against defunding Planned Parenthood, even in light of recent videos showing the horrific practices taking place in their facilities daily. Then when asked if he had even watched the videos that led to the vote, well, let’s just say he was beyond professional in his kind and well thought out answer.

As New York senator Chuck Schumer stepped into a senators-only elevator, I asked him the same yes-or-no question. “Shut the door,” Schumer told an aide.

I guess they’re not against all weapons involved in mass killings, just those that also save countless lives, prevent countless rapes, and have ended and prevented countless shooting rampages. However, I’m sure that Amy and Chuck know all about the psychopath mindset, and how criminals are all incredibly concerned about following laws.
