Army Captain saves lives

This is what a hero looks like.  Army Captain Steve Voglezon was off duty when he saw two cars collide head on. Three people were trapped in their burning cars and the neighbors ran to help. Captain Voglezon pulled two trapped victims out of the car. On Good Morning America Captain Voglezon said:

“I grabbed one of the fire extinguishers and we smashed out on the back window and the driver’s side window. ….There wasn’t a real plan, I just had tunnel vision,” Voglezon said afterwards.

Voglezon credited his training with helping him stay calm.

“If I had not been a soldier, I would not have known what to do. The Army has helped a lot,” he said.

Voglezon, fittingly, was wearing a Captain America T-shirt at the time of the rescue.

This is what a hero does. Here is someone for kids to admire and emulate. And for us adults to want to be like as well.

Despite some injuries, the people involved in the crash survived. Even so, Voglezon downplayed his actions.

“I was just at the right place at the right time,” he said. “People do this every day at the fire department. I wasn’t alone out there, there were at least 10 of us in the community working together.”

Captain Voglezon you are a hero and so are your neighbors who put your lives on the line to rescue total strangers in harms way. Dear hippies, this is what the military does. This is what a sheepdog does to protect us civilians. And thank you Captain Voglezon.

    Good on you, Captain!

Why the focus on the Army guy, though. instead of the other 9 neighbors? (And he didn’t do this because he was appointed our sheepdog, but because he was a neighbor.) Is it the shirt? Was he the only one they could pin down? Was there some progressive vision he matched that the other neighbors didn’t? (Sad to say the MSM will do that sort of thing.)

Hooah, Captain! And to all your neighbors, as well! Any land for sale in your neighborhood?

true. Of course that says a lot about the media and where they live. I am hoping it was the shirt.

  • OC says:

    Well done, Capt. well done.
And thanks for the assist, good neighbors.

Must take you to task, slightly, Gail – this is what Americans do !!
