afghani women protest, say ‘no corruption’

protesting a corrupt government in the streets of kabul is not a hugely popular thing to do — even less if you are an afghani woman.

these muslim women are very brave. this incredible event could have never happened in afghanistan before president bush took the fight to the enemy there.

check this out:

“Several hundred women, many holding aloft pictures of relatives killed by drug lords or Taliban militants, held a loud but nonviolent street protest today, demanding that President Hamid Karzai purge from his government anyone connected to corruption, war crimes or the Taliban.

“These women are being very brave,” said the protest leader, her face hidden by a burka. “To be a woman in Afghanistan and an activist can mean death. We want justice for our loved ones!”

Afghan police, in riot gear, monitored the rally as it worked its way slowly through muddy streets to the United Nations building here, but they did nothing to disrupt the event.”

but wait… it gets even better:

“While the women took the lead in the protest, about 500 men followed them in support, an unusual display in Afghan culture of men allowing women to take a leadership role.”

i’m quite certain W didn’t hold meetings with a bunch of spineless talking-head leftists that he called ‘advisors’ mulling the reasons for 9/11, or wring his hands wondering why islamic extremists hate us so much, or draw up a list of apologies owed around the world.

he simply did what was right as a lover of freedom and democracy.

is it any wonder that 44% of the american people would rather have W back as president then the incompetent, feckless obama? president bush’s numbers will only go up as more and more of the pixie dust falls from the eyes of obamabots.

Clearly a false poll about Shrub. Never has this country had a worse president.

“Clearly a false poll about Shrub.”

That’s it Pennie, deny reality, it’s what you do best. Pathetic.

Those Afghani women are incredible!! What a risk they are taking! May God watch over them because that is not going to go over well with some of the more extreme thinking people of that country.

  • David says:

Ya, Pennie – Geez. All you do is DENY reality and titter about wishes and bunnies and lollipop-type fantasy. And call people names and avoid responding to points in a logical manner. Sheesh. Truly pathetic and unhelpfu behavior.

  • David says:

P.S. Though I was no 100% Bush liker, I for one would DOUBLE-like to have G. W. Bush in rather than this pandering rudderless empty suit of a President.

P.P.S. Before you rant about how “we won” and “Obama is the President”… I KNOW that. I don’t debate those facts. It’s the POLICIES and the INEPTITUDE that is lamentable and intolerable.

  • Jane says:

There is no way that George Bush gets credit for women in Afghanistan protesting their government. If anything he hurt them by his arrogant and violence. He killed their husbands and children who had nothing to do with 9/11. I am sick to death of the way you glorify the criminal Shrub.

  • lisab says:

    jane,

do some research before you post such idiocy

the taliban was one of the most repressive regimes towards women on earth.

prior to the invasion if a woman was raped the woman would be thrown in jail for having sex outside of marriage unless she could provide three witnesses … male witnesses … to back her story

  • gene says:

nobody wants shrub back u stooge. obama needs to quit trying to play both sides. he was elected because of very specific promises to end the wars and to close gitmo. so far he hasn’t done either. right now he ‘s a real f-up.

  • David says:

Gene has a good point. Like it or not, Obama was elected for at least two big reasons: 1) he was not G. W. Bush [with all the baggage at the time], and 2) because of what he SAID that he’d do as President.

The President IS trying to ‘play both sides’; he IS being a fencewalker and trying to please everybody – instead of just DOING what ought to BE DONE. Now, granted, there’s Congress & the Supreme Court, etc. also involved in this here Republic. But he was hired by the American people (at least 53% of them) to DO a job, and he seems to be mainly avoiding that and giving lots and lots of speeches on TV instead. The campaign is OVER – now get to work, Mr. President.

Now, that being said, my position of what job he ought to DO differs somewhat from what job others feel he should do. But none of us like him sitting on fences and looking like a namby-pamby.

I guess the silver lining is that while he’s spinning around in circles and losing popularity, we have a better chance of not seeing his radical ideas implemented over the top of this 1789-based Constitutionally Representative Republic. : )

  • Scarlett says:

Good for these women but you can hardly credit George “warmonger” Bush for their courage to advocate for themselves. Women have always been the backbone of any society. George Bush should be in prison along with Cheney, Rice, and Rumsfeld.

  • David says:

lisab said, “the taliban was one of the most repressive regimes towards women on earth.”

That is a very clear and accurate point!! Jane should be ashamed.

  • PenniePan says:

This was probably a fake protest anyway, put together by Karzai’s opponents. Women in Afghanistan don’t do this especially the ones who wear burkas.

  • David says:

Could be. Kinda like the whole man-made global warming issue is a fake thang.

  • Ken says:

You Bush deniers are quite amusing. Your ignorant and blind hatred won’t even let you see the things, like the Afghani women protesting, and realize that its because of Bush. Had a democrat been in office on 9/11, thank God there wasn’t, they would have fired some cruise missiles and declared victory, leaving the Taliban intact.

The likes of Pennie, Scarlett, and Jane are the saddest of the lot. The cannot let go of their hatred enough to acknowledge the good that Bush did do.

Before the invasion of Afghanistan these women would have been beaten publicly if not executed. To deny the freedoms that we are trying to bring to Afghanistan, is to deny reality. However, we are quite used to that from our local liberal trolls.
