Bill and Melinda Gates, Mega Donors to International Abortion Providers, Worry Trump Infrastructure Plan Will Kill Millions Worldwide

Billionaire tech power couple, Bill and Melinda Gates, have voiced their disapproval of Trump’s infrastructure plan. On Tuesday, The Guardian ran an article detailing qualms held by the Gates, the main qualm being that Trump’s plan involves substantial cuts to foreign aid. According to Jamiles Lartey, who wrote the article, Bill Gates believes cutting foreign aid could “directly lead to millions of preventable deaths around the globe…”

Well, you know what else causes millions of preventable deaths around the globe?

Abortion. It kills about 56 million people per year worldwide, according the Guttmacher Institute. That’s nearly five Holocausts every 365 days.

The Gates Foundation, the largest philanthropic organization on the planet, has been known to give big financial support to the International Planned Parenthood Federation and Marie Stopes International, both of which aim to facilitate “safe abortion” for women in developing countries.

The Gates have had close ties with Planned Parenthood for years. Bill Gates’ dad was on their board and used to talk about it with his kids at the dinner table.

While the Gates Foundation has a unfortunately strong connection to the pro-choice cause, they have an even stronger connection to the pro-contraception cause, and that’s a problem too.

Now, you might be asking, “Why is the fact that Melinda Gates loves sharing contraception methods and resources a problem?”

In general, if a charity funds contraception education and access, that’s not a problem in and of itself… as long as a human being isn’t destroyed in the process. There are many contraceptive methods that do not entail the destruction of a zygote or embryo. Condoms and natural family planning, for example, work well if used correctly– and it’s easy for people to learn how they work.

The thing is, though, many contraceptive methods can be abortifacient, meaning they can destroy a fertilized egg by keeping it from implanting in a woman’s uterus. For example, the IUD, or intrauterine device, is a common contraception method that can be abortifacient and it is presented (by conglomerates like the International Planned Parenthood Federation) to women in developing countries as an innocent way to “space out one’s pregnancies.” The same can be said for hormonal methods of birth control, like pills or the shot.

It’s a hard thing to hear, I know. Especially if you’re a pro-lifer who uses (or has used) birth control. But it’s real.

The Gates Foundation funds organizations that spread knowledge of– and access to– methods of contraception that can be abortifacient, taking such methods outside the bounds of the west and spreading them to the rest of the world.

We’ll never know how many millions of unborn children never got to see the light of day because of international family planning “charities” like the International Planned Parenthood Federation. Guttmacher might say 56 million, but the real number (due to abortifacient drugs and devices) is probably considerably higher.

But wait. Bill and Melinda are crying out on behalf of people who may become more vulnerable because of Trump’s cuts to foreign aid, right?

There’s cognitive dissonance there. Why fight to protect some vulnerable humans while disregarding others?

The Gates, like so many on the left, either 1) choose to disbelieve in the humanity of the unborn, or 2) recognize their humanity but claim that a pregnant woman’s bodily autonomy supersedes the human worth of an unborn child.

I’m tempted to believe the former. I don’t think Bill and Melinda Gates are bad people. I think they are compassionate. They’ve used their money to achieve a lot of good in the world in terms of bringing healthcare and technology to war-torn and impoverished regions.

And they do seem to love kids, as the Gates Foundation has been a very mindful and impactful champion for children’s health in developing countries:

“Despite concern about the effects of possible cuts to US aid, the Gateses’ underlying message in the letter and on stage Tuesday was one of optimism. “The world is getting better by almost every objective measure,” Bill Gates said, citing the example of child mortality, the foundation’s top priority in recent years.“When we got going, about 12 million kids were dying a year under the age of five. Now, because of vaccines and things that we’ve done with partners, that number is under 5 million.””

The Gates’ view of the unborn, however, has been poisoned by leftist ideology.

Maybe, one day, philanthropists who recognize the worth of every born child will recognize, also, the worth of unborn children.

    Sorry, but … “So what?”

I’m charitable, and I believe in helping my neighbor. But *NOT* through the gov’t! There are several reasons.

The first is kleptocracy. Quite simply, our aid seldom reaches more than a handful of folks who are actually in need.
Second, innefficiency. Gov’t *always* costs more (usually a LOT more) than private charities.
Third, corruption. Gov’t-associated aid groups (including IN agencies) seem to have problems with things like turning refugee camps into brothels.
    Fourth, there’s James Madison:

I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.

I would assume the same expenditures, on those not even residents of America, would raise the same objection.

Bill, Melinda, y’all have the money to fill in the gap. So why are you still jawing?

If the Gates’ don’t like the foreign aid cuts then they can donate their own damn money to their favorite countries. The days of the US serving as the world’s bank are over-it’s time to fix what needs fixing right here in the US.
